That looks great! A real barn find too. Knowing it was your Dads is even better. My Dad passed on in January and I'm trying to get an old El Camino running he left me. The nice newer one he left to my brother in law! WTF? I guess he knew the best mechanic when he made that decision. Anxious to see yours out and cleaned up. The interior looks good.
  2. Could be the tps or afm are stuck from spider webs or something. The sweeper vane under the black square on the afm should move freely. Throttle position switch should go from right contact to free in the middle then to wide open left side. I've read that after washing the engine bay down the tps will stay wet and cause problems. Just guessing.

If it's been sitting for 15 years don't try and crank it if you haven't already. That's a lot easier said than done. This is good to read over. It's a little heavy handed for me but still great information. Added edit: change the oil, charge the battery and bypass the dirty fuel tank by running the inlet hose to the fuel filter into a clean 2 gallon gas can with fresh gas. Before that though pull off the valve cover and pour oil over the valve train. Make sure oil is flowing through the oil bar that runs parallel with the cam. You can pull the coil wire to do this so it won't try to start while you spin the engine, oil pump.

Yes, welcome to this forum. We look forward to seeing the car as well as helping you with anything we can. Deep well of knowledgeable members here.
  5. that's what i did. Nobody will see it but you. 5/8" low psi fuel hose from O'reillys and two 3/4" pex 90s. This isn't my car but you see what I'm talking about.

can't find a side by side image of the old vs new sender. I did find something I read about a set screw adjustment you might can do before installation. AZ-240z replied to a topic, click that

It's in the tank and I'm not taking it out, sorry. But I remember now a little more of my research in 2012. Nissan used that sending unit in different cars and forklifts. I'll look for some images real quick and post one if I can find something.

I bent my brand new one to match the OE one from 1972. My reading around suggested it was straighter out of the box. Gauge works like my 280's does. It takes forever to get to half a tank from FULL then drops like a rock on that other half, but all my cars seem to do this.

Now that Supra....?! There's one for sale right next to my work and it looks like a modern 240Z, in my opinion, better than anything so far.
  11. Yes it does to me. Those flat tops are good when they're right, which I've only heard 2 members on here that have that "don't quit" attitude when it comes to the later carbs. Like Zed Head precluded to above there is a reason the Nissan Corporation put out the fuel improvement for '73 and '74s.
  12. When it's really wet down here my girlfriend/ex-wife/nextdoor neighbor has to weed eat the whole yard. I won't stand for ruts in my yard!
  13. There's two differences in these pics. Can you pick them out? Hocus Focus.
  14. Your Zs getting water damage? That flooding looks bad. Hope you're okay!
  15. Gone! That looks/looked like a good buy.
  16. You would be surprised at what they still have. I know I was. Carburetor parts for my '72, fuel tank sending unit, driver's door mirror, scuff plates for the door sills and on and on. You have to have the part number though. Their computers only go back to '95. I use this a lot, http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/engine-240z-260z Also courtesyparts.com but just for part numbers, never bought from them just my local dealership. Usually next day with no shipping charges.

Are you a mechanic or a person that pays mechanics? That's the main thing I've learned here. You can research and do anything to these cars or pay someone to do it. Glad to see new Z owners! Welcome aboard.
  18. Timely @zKars.

You found a good group of people here, plenty of replies when you need something. That Georgia Z club is awesome from all I've heard on here and Facebook. Road Atlanta brought the Zs to Georgia. There's tons of like minded owners from GA. Welcome to the affliction.
  20. All those other ding a lings say USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION instead of bp6es. Not here and that's what makes CZCC the best.
  21. My front door will be the color of those suds, in an empty mug.
  22. S30 changes 70-78 Model changes Hocus focus
  23. I'm repainting my house and getting some color help from this girl next door. I showed her Safari Gold and asked about painting the front door that color. She says "oh my, that would look so good". Thank you Guy for this thread Wall Art! I'll post a picture when I get it done.
  24. Mine is the cheaper, less CCA "value". Not the "maxx". I guess that's why it's smaller?
