L28 full rebuild assembly
This is off a '79. Very different it looks like? This one didn't have injector fan over the valve cover.

Don't use California Datsun! Start a new thread asking about complete restoration in or around Sacramento.

I've been looking for a project
There's 4 or 5 guys that restore them on here. I guess finding one close by would be best. @motorman7 seems to be the main one presently. Where are you located, left coast or right?

That's great! Running at 1,000 is a good spot. Now you can troubleshoot easier. Change the oil if you haven't already and run some clean water through the coolant system. If you loosen the radiator drain and put slow running water hose up top it'll flush out eventually.

You look at motorsports.com, MSA. I'm just starting to get ready to pull of my door card. I've got the small pry thing for the plastic push ins. Do have any tips that might help me since it's fresh on your mind? I would appreciate it. BTW I'm fixing my door opening rod and installing a new mirror. Thanks!

Smog questions for header replacement
I got rid of mine and contemplated putting a rubber cap over the hole in the air filter. After reading the consensus of our members here I/we decided it best to leave it open. More air flow and an outlet for any varmints or their food storage. That was a big problem for me, squirrels storing acorns. First I called the game wardens and ask about seasons to shoot, license and what not then after their "go for it" answers I bought a 1200 flb air rifle. Problem solved. There is a simple metal piece that fits between the middle runners of the header if you want to keep the heat riser.

Mint '71 240Z - More Fun Coming to BaT
Mine has around 75,000 by now and has the original paint and interior. I have those same 240Z Amco floor mats as you have. Check out how different the paint looks in different lighting, it looks like a different car but it's the same one!

You can get all your spare tire tools in one bin and get yourself a fire extinguisher to put in the other one. Mine is behind the passenger's seat.

Speaking of valves. You should check yours to see if they're in spec. cold. And try leaving the cold start valve unplugged, they get stuck open and dump fuel in the intake. I guess plugging the fuel hose would be best if it's stuck open. Did you replace the fpr? Seems like you said it was dripping fuel. Good luck.

Seems like MSA sales weather stripping piece by piece? there's also an alternative donor car that works. Can't remember which though, Yugo maybe but it's a junkyard thing you go pull off. It's a Kia car! brain fart with Yugo. Google "kia weather stripping classiczcars.com" there's tons of info on it.

I use a big Oring under my oil cap. I think there's a flimsy gasket under the cold start valve. You could make one from an old cereal box or buy some gasket paper at the parts store. Progress!

78 280Z fuel pump and plumbing questions
I bought one of the last OE Bosch pumps online in 2012, maybe? It was $250 back then. I've seen those Beck Arnleys online for around $350 recently. A friend has a 280 like mine and he bought one. Looks just like my Bosch. The OE ones had some kind of pink Bondo looking goop on the electrical. I used liquid electric tape on mine and it's still in good shape. I changed out my "out of tank filter" a few weeks ago and saw it then. Read this if you haven't yet. Just about everyone on here has one of these. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/g3filter/index.htm

That's a big hole! Too many car shows? Mine has that too, no threads. I'm going with @87mj idea of manufacturing process on the 240's. Thanks for playing.

Mysterious hole.
Could someone tell me what went in this threaded hole? I don't remember anything up top but it could have been the York's evaporator that was in front of the radiator. Thanks for any replies. Cliff
