That's the egr tunnel and you won't get those plugs loose, I tried. You need an N42 intake. ? And another front cover.

That looks familiar. When you get a minute plug up the barbs for the injectors and hook a fuel pump up, check for leaks before you install it. I had to find a better thread sealer as mine leaked a little. Looks damn good!

I put new timing components on mine one time and forgot the oil slinger. Oh $^!#! I thought but the "how to modify" says leave them off. Everything seems to be fine after all these years so thankfully I didn't have to do a heart transplant after putting the new stents in.

I ruined an f54 trying to get that rear plug out. Drilled a small hole in it to thread a screw in to pull on with some vise grips. How far will your emergency brake lever come up? If it stands up to 12 o'clock your shoes are usually worn out. New shoes will go to about 10 o'clock in my experience with these cars. For what that's worth!

You're right about no info online. I got my "how to rebuild" book out this morning and here's what I went by... I rembered them having a metal wire like strip embedded in the rubber I assume for some rigidity to push them down? I had to nip that off to get the cap to sit down flush.

I don't remember my Nissan's having the "nails" but Felpro definitely had them. There's about 3 ridges on one side of the Nissan side seal. Google to be sure but I think those go towards the crank. The flat side faces outward. Please double check though, it's been a few years.
