  1. You mean this isn't yours? Or your daughter, my future wife?

No kidding! I have a few baby teeth at my Mom's house she might let me offer.

My something learned today, thanks to @240260280. I can go to bed now. Penultimate... pe·nul·ti·mate /pəˈnəltəmət/ adjective last but one in a series of things; second last. "the penultimate chapter of the book"

I tried my Nissan parts guy for some new floats, p/n 16061-E4310, big ole "nada" as in nada available anymore. I'd read this before and he also said the same. The floats are made of some lightweight fuel resistant foam and are solid so they can't absorb fuel. He suggested sanding them and carefully bending things back into shape. I wanted new floats to go with my new Grose valves.
  5. I just had mine cut down and waxed. It looks different to me every other day. I know this doesn't help you but it does me.
  6. Check msa's ceramic coated header and the 2.5 premium exhaust. Seems like it was around $500 on Black Friday. Take those savings and buy some nice wheels and tires.

    That's awesome! Beautiful day too.
  8. You should do the Cadillac upgrade that @wal280z came up with. I can't find on this phone but will with my lapdance.
  9. I use an OEM spec Exedy clutch with a real light aluminum flywheel in my 240. It was $100 from amazon.com, part number was 066009. Fun to drive as a weekend car. The tach needle bounces like a ping-pong ball but it is a pita just getting up and out of my driveway when I first get in it. After a few restarts I get used to it pretty quick. Humble opinion #2

No, don't fall for that. If it just needs jumping off, jump it off. I got a guy way down on mine. He kept saying it was something simple so I left him my number and said call when you get it running. I never even got inside my car to leave when he said "hey wait a minute". $8,000 sounds about right if it's decent and runs out good. Take a lot of pictures when you see it and post them up here. You should get a very detailed assessment from the gang.

I'd be glad to if he is interested. I hope mine has glass balls to! AlabamaDan, don't bust my balls.
  12. Do the clutch slave cylinder adjustment and the correct distance from floor to pedal. You can google "240z slave cylinder adjustment classiczcars.com" and find the info. Good luck, don't want to drop the transmission if you don't have to.

Could be in the timing? Glad your making progress! Just rembered my ordeal. Once the float levels are right you must start over with carb balance and tuning airflow. But once you do it all over and get them right, say goodnight to Mr Carburetors. They will be solid for years.

From your photo. If your tangs are at this severe angle you'll have problems. That bent upwards tang will keep the float pushed up and no fuel will enter

Have you read about stacking washers on the valves. If I remember right I had two on 1 when I the different length float "ears".

"For motorcycles he used glass for the larger ball to keep the mass down and deal with the vibration better." Don't these look like glass?

From the www One day I decided to drive up to Stoneham, near Boston, and pick up a Grose Jet. This was in the days before Mapquest or GPS so I looked up the address in the ad and found a map of the town. It was called D & G Valve Mfg. Co., Inc. on 8 Mt. Vernon Street, and I really did not know what to expect. Would it be a large brick factory with chain link fence and guard house? It turned out to be a house in an old Stoneham neighborhood. I went to the door and knocked. A large man with a machinist apron on greeted me and invited me in to the manufacturing shop set up in the basement of his house. He wanted to know what model of carburetor I needed a gross jet for. Since I was there I picked up one for the Quadrajet on my mother’s Pontiac as well as the Holley on my VW. He took the time to show me how his jigs were set up to manufacture the different Grose Jets. For motorcycles he used glass for the larger ball to keep the mass down and deal with the vibration better. He pulled two Grose Jets out of the drawers of his cabinets and sold me what I was looking for. I drove home enlightened to see what a Yankee inventor could produce out of the basement of his house and become famous for in an underground sort of way. Look up D & G Valve on the Internet, you can still find it. Amazing.

I agree 100%. I would love to have Grose valves. I bet someone could get the patent and start remaking them. Seems like they were in Massachusetts maybe? Anyway... @Captain Obvious I'd buy four.

I'm stumped on all of the sudden overflowing but here is what Mark is referring to I believe. When it's assembled and overflowing I would suggest sticking a red straw from a can of WD-40 down the overflow bung to make sure the float isn't stuck somehow once the lids are on.
  25. That chick on Deadpool.
