Pulling My Engine, Need Second Opinion
I had take my front tires off because of the height needed to get the combo out. I guess garage ceilings are 8ft. But I can't remember what I used? 99% sure, jack stands as low as possible. The legs on the lift I had were too wide to go in between the front whatever but it went to the sides close enough that there wasn't any problems. I put the rear tires on ramps too. That helped. High in the rear and low for the front. The first time I did mine by myself I was super nervous but it's real easy. Don't forget the speedo cable, be careful with the hood rod holder. Most everyone tapes a WD-40 cap over them. I have a motorcycle jack that's pretty much a transmission jack. I put it under the transmission so it rolled foward as I lifted the motor. Made it a little easier. Good luck.

12V for fuel Pump
Yeah I'd leave it too. That York compressor bracket is a huge pain to deal with just to get the pump off. Maybe cap the open IN and OUT holes with something though. Your electric pump probably had those rubber caps on it. Like these red ones.

Another Z to see the roads again...
- 280z Bumper Conversion: Who Kept 280z Lower Valence?
Great wordplay! This is very funny, thank you.- Not a Z, not even a car. Unidentified fuel tank inner coating
My 1st bike was a CT 70. My Dad bought that before he bought me a bycycle. He lived way out in the county. No kids my age to get to by a bycycle so he got me a mini bike. Great Dad decision.- Restoration profit
I've heard valets using Tile trackers they put in high end cars when they park them then copy the key and find it with the Tile tracker. That was years ago at Atlanta's airport. Also put Tiles in luggage packed with cocaine and the unloaders pulled those suitcases before they went inside to the carousel. Baggage handlers that were millionaires.- Missed a deal today.
I've got a '77 that is full on patina. I call it Patina. Sat out so long in the sun the top body panels are silver, sides are 305 blue. It even has orange carpet! And the dash has cracks so wide I could hide a pistol in one.- 1978 280z: Tail Lights, Dash Lights, and Side Markers not coming on/not working
I did my '77 too. Made it like new I suppose. Flipping those plates is the money shot. I followed this... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwinvMeuz-H0AhX0SDABHZA6DqsQFnoECA4QAQ&usg=AOvVaw1MgWNgBd3yM5WQ0jnGnjgR- Missed a deal today.
But all that patina is priceless.- Heat shield above MSA coated header
Mine runs "warm" even in the heat of our summer here, high 90s farenheit. My carbs domes are cool to the touch after driving. Good flowing fuel and the ceramic header I guess. Also no coolant flowing through them. Try a digital thermometer in the radiator while it's parked, no air flow other than the fan. That is like traffic jams I would think. Mine runs at 175 farenheit with the thermostat open and coolant flowing.- Missed a deal today.
Are you prepared? Here's your chance.- Missed a deal today.
Here it is. He didn't respond and now I've had time to quiten the voices in my head. I wouldn't buy it today if he did call. Some guy bought a house and land with an old 240. Facebook marketplace said it was a '69. Message the guy to get the vin # and he said he was flogged with inquiries. It wasn't to far away, complete car for $1,500. I figured out my loose change and when I texted him back it was SOLD. Turns out it was a '72 but still a decent deal I thought. Day late and a dollar short... Eh, maybe next time? It would've been fun for this winter to play with though. 😥- Hungary for Orange

Hopefully you'll never finish your car, you will probably live longer. My Dad always had a project that needed finishing (like me ) that he claimed gave him a reason to get out of the bed with my step monster. We need stuff to do!- Heat shield above MSA coated header
What does your TEMP gauge show. My needle stays on the right "leg" of the M and my other 240 was the same exact way. If I'm not mistaken Nissan has a 165F thermostat and a 180F. Are you using a thermostat, is it a Nissan because the cheap ones are no good. Do think the motor is actually hot or are you thinking it's the fuel in the carbs percolating? The "pop pop pop" means it's not tuned properly. It could in the timing or ignition or the carbs, any number of things. The last I remember you had found an L motor experienced mechanic. What happened with that? I think an infared temp gun would be money well spent. They're pretty cheap now. Point the red dot and see where it's hot. https://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Thermometers/b?ie=UTF8&node=9931459011 Good luck with your problem. PS Back the timing up and remove the air filter, then see what it does. PSS Read this thread if you have time.- I'm a Boy Scout covered with patches, again.

I'm a bad typer. You're a perv! That gives whole new meaning to 'sleeps with wolves".- The Early 77 rear hatch differences
Keep the sloped in my opinion. Money and time wasted when you could be driving. There's a hook that goes around the hatch shock that holds the sloped deck up. Black plastic with elastic cord on the driver's side. - 280z Bumper Conversion: Who Kept 280z Lower Valence?
