Upgrading to Eurethane Bushings
When I did mine a small bottle jack helped keep things in place while your trying to start the nuts. Use the Energy Suspension Hyper Flex kit, it's around $150, Energy Suspension HYPER-FLEX Master Bushing Kit 70-73 Nissan / Datsun 240Z - Part Number: 7.18101 - Sparktec Motorsports - Passenger Car Applications. I got the black set instead of red.

Suddenly missing
I agree with hr369, clean the connections then coat them with dielectric grease. Cheap and easy to do.

What to do?
That looks fabbedulous. What stock did you use? That's what I want!

Engine Kits!! Where can you be???
The one from rpmrons.com for $625 is pretty much what I bought from rockauto.com, picking and choosing myself, for $600. Everything was standard size too. Also a new set of Standard fuel injectors. I typed too soon. rpmrons $423 kit looks more like it, no pistons or wrist pins either, my originals were in good shape. Also bought the high volume oil pump from Advanced, Melling M52 If I remember right. Got an email from zcarsource http://www.zcarsource.com/specials.html looks like a good deal.

are these OEM wheels?
That's the 3 dealer add on's mine has. A/C, Slotted Mags, and my favorite, a thick undercoating.

Dead Injectors?
Don't go smacking on a new AFM, knowing that I doubt it too.

heat shield for rcb280z
I know you got it but I just can't wait to share my experience. I had to remove that arm off the throttle body that holds the spring, it's a #6 allen bolt that holds the throttle body to the intake manifold - bottom right, so I could reach that bolt closet to thermostat housing. I had to put the horizontal shield on first then the vertical one. Sorry I didn't get this to you earlier.

Dead Injectors?
Check that vane under the black square cover on the side of AFM, they get stuck sometimes. It has a counter weight on it and should move freely when you touch the weight.

Finally getting some windshield time
Was having problems with Farmers Insurance trying to add small fees on my Homeowners policy and considered switching but finally came to a consensus with them. So the 240Z has been insured and tagged and the miles are rolling on. Only a couple of small differences against my 280Z, kinda joking there, I LOVE THIS CAR. It is so much lighter feeling and way more responsive through the steering wheel but I feel all the bumps in the roads. It's my Go-Cart from childhood with a radio. If I hadn't started reading this Forum I would have never considered buying one. Thank you all!

Runs Rough After Sitting 10-15 mins...
A mechanic clamped my return line with needle nosed Vise Grips and Popsicle stick looking pieces of wood, without damaging the hose.

Runs Rough After Sitting 10-15 mins...
I'll say try and put a fuel pressure gauge in the fuel line after the fuel filter because it sounds like the 36psi is dropping after 15 minutes, especially if it smooths out after the rough idle which gives it time to reestablish the pressure. Could be the fuel pressure regulator or the check valve in the pump, lots of possibilities. Good luck.

Full dash cover installation help
Welding clamps and sanding blocks, your a certified problem solver. Thanks a bunch because I'd never have thought of that. That looks great, I hope mine turns out 50% that good.

Original 1980 Datsun 280ZX, 22,700 miles on Craigslist
My local Nissan Dealer took an '83 non-turbo with 56,000 original miles. White with red velour interior and all options except the turbo, they're asking $10,000. I thought that was crazy until seeing this.

73 in Museum Auction feb 14
Mine has those mags too. The guy I bought it from said they were a dealer add on as was the A/C. He called them 'Slotted Wheels, or Slots'.

240z Rear Bumper Guard Rubber Strip
Thanks for those machinist suggestion, I've read tons about Rebello heads, I actually just need a cam, size info and installed on an E31. I went and looked and luckily my 07/'72 has four bolts. Best of luck with your dilemma dltalfa, I hate the idea of drilling "new" holes on something so old. Thanks again guys.

240z Rear Bumper Guard Rubber Strip
Could you drill a 4th hole? I will run into this too, my fronts look good but the rears are torn in a couple of places. This is off your subject but do you know of a good shop in Birmingham for cylinder head work? Thanks, Cliff

Tilton 50-026 aluminum flywheel question
Could someone that's owned one suggest a street-able clutch for an aluminum flywheel for my mostly stock '77 280Z? It came with a 240 I recently bought and I would like to try it out on the less revy 2.8 motor. I am using a standard Exedy clutch with the original steel flywheel but could put it in my Hardbody pick-up later on. Any replies would be helpful. Thanks, Cliff.

280z - Hidden/secret/weed compartment?
The only reason I could see for the elevated floor in the deck area is for the compressed air bottle for the un-inflated spare they put in in early '77s. It's about 4" tall, laying down. Under the ashtray, is a good spot unless you have weight, or so I've been told.
