I'll share a story about my Dad, RIP. He never used a torque wrench or impact, just a 24" x 1/2" breaker bar and his brute gorilla arms. My younger sister and my step monster had flats over the years but could not break Pop's strength loose. Had to call roadside assistance everytime. He taught them how to put on the spare but couldn't make them as strong as he was. Me on the other hand was a touch smarter than those girls and used the scissor jack and the opposite weight of the car to break them loose. Needless to say I was his #1 son. To add context, my Dad worked for 40 years at the local Goodyear plant. He rotated all of our tires once a month just for the fun of it.

You can remove that piece above the wiper motor and blow that drain out with air. A bunch of crap will come out. Then stick a hose pipe on it to make sure it's no backup, restrictions in there.

I am probably the one that told you to pull it off. My car does good without all that stuff. I might need some blue garden hose though.

Boy oh boy did I have a time with my engine block! It looked good to me but the photos I posted looked way off. If you like it that's all that matters.

I could dig out and reinstall the original parts and get somewhere around $39K for mine I think. Hagerty guy from Birmingham appraised it at $40K a few years ago after looking at it.

Sorry I'm late to the party but if you ever have to do it again. I've always gotten lucky and pulled a rope with a wood "handle" up through the hole in the tunnel as the transmission goes further back. Then tie it off when it's level and let the wood hold it in place until I can get the transmission mount mounted.

I use Red-Kote with no issues so far, about 10 years on my 280 and 5 on the 240. After all the research, reading I did it was apparent how long I let it cure makes the successfulness of the process what it is or is not. @Bonzi Lon thank you for the advice. I ran those glass fuel filters for the first month looking for pinkish colored fuel. After getting scolded by many folks I took them off fearing a leak and engine fire. Thanks @madkaw for scaring the bejesus out of me but they never leaked and served their purpose, no pink gas right before the fuel rail. The low pressure on the carbed 240 was a no brainer but the 32'ish psi on the 280 was worrisome and I wound up with quality fuel extinguishers in both cars. Long road but it circled back around complete and everything is fine. And I have the plastic filters right out of the tank on both cars. G2 on the 240, G3 on the 280.
