  1. I was able to do mine as the hole assembly. I have an older set of triple beams that I put a railroad spike on and that let me do the cups and rods, caps. Without that added railroad spike it maxed out the triple beams. To get weight off I ground on the outer sides of the rods. Got them all to weigh the same amount of grams. Seems like it was in the 700s maybe? That's almost 2 lbs each. 448 grams per pound.
  2. I think of a survivor as one that's not been wrecked that has original paint, glass and interior. Rebuilt original motor passes too. That's just maintenance like tires and oil changes. My opinion only.
  3. I apologize if I'm repeating myself but these are a great upgrade. They'll take any looseness out of the original setup and by doing that you have less chance of breaking the choke handle. https://zcardepot.com/products/choke-lever-mounting-plate-reinforcement-240z
  4. That's like the difference between fitting and proper.
  5. The surprised one in back. Some cute girl walked by taking pictures and those two shot her the bird screaming obscenities really loud. Embarrassed me. The one on the right is dead, OD'd, the other one is a falling down stumbling drunkard now. Liver's shot.
  6. It's hot out and I'm bored. Scary situation. Did you ever see if it's the front 3 cylinders or the rears that are rough? The front carb runs 1-3, rear 4-6. You may be running on 3 cylinders? The front carb has that vacuum advance nipple that needs to be hooked up or capped off. 3 day weekend boredom. Goodluck with it, I'm sure it's something simple.
  7. Hooked the trickle charger up anticipating a early morning drive. 62 degrees this morning so hoping for the same tomorrow. I think I'll take the dog?
  8. Nathan's hot dog contest dream finish for me... "it's only a wafer-thin mint"
  9. Your passion for good work has paid off! Damn fine car. Can't wait for the zcon I get to see it in person.
  10. Well to break the rule like most others I guess, mine were tuned and corrected until they are as good as possible. I want to remove all the brand new efi components I put on my '77 and put a spare set of SUs on there. I am a minimalist, less is best, and would drive the 240 anywhere. The efi 280, not so confident. Too many sensors trying to correct problems that are barely there. I have a friend with an efi John Deere mower that's popping through the air filter. Can not get him to understand it's most likely a sensor gone bad that I can not just "unplug". People are stupid when they get tunnel vision.
  11. Two of my best friends but they are rrreeednecks! The "redneck say cheese". Edit: WERE 2 of my best friends.
  12. Two different things around here. Rednecks are hateful and only out for themselves. Good old boys are respectful and help anybody that needs help.
  13. Don't forget wasp/yellow jackets and mosquitos. Snakes hide when they feel vibrations, wasp and yellow jackets attack. Mosquitos are Gods little joke on us, they have no purpose but to be pest.
  14. "SMARTER EVERYDAY" That's what my Dad taught me too, learn something new everyday.
  15. I wondered why I had a cast iron pipe fitting in my Z parts drawer! You told me about how that reducer would work, and it did. Thanks again.
  16. Ms. Racer #1 might hit you up on "faceplant"? I get a lot of holiday booty off faceplant.
  17. When I need to stretch out a spring instead of pliers/vise grips, I use a wire like drop ceiling hanging wire. Sort of like a clothes hanger. Put the wire through the spring end and double it over for a pull handle and pull it out to the the set hole. Works great.

You may as well drop the motor to change the plugs plus 13 quarts of high dollar Kendall oil in an '81 SC. It's a road you have to drive before you realize the bumps it has. Kind of like boats. There fun but like they say you can just stand in the shower and rip up hundred dollar bills.

I just realized I actually used some Leather Honey I had for my couch on my 240 seats. I put it on heavy and the next day it had soaked in the vinyl and the seats looked normal. Then I used some soft rags to buff them out then they had a shine. Like Murphy's oil soap it remoisturize the seats and makes the vinyl soft again. Natural stuff instead of chemicals. Worked good for me. Original seats with no cracks but you have to moisturize them.
  20. I have one of these.
  21. You pointed it out, I found it then. Now I understand. Thanks.
  22. Fish come from the grocery store! Teach a man to fish? So I have to grow my own ketchup?
  23. Is that the smaller diameter of the return or is there an actual part that could go bad and need replacing? Thanks!
  24. I always forget about the 260s and my lack of knowledge about them. I don't think I've ever even seen one in the "wild". Just at ZCON and on the internet.
