  1. I agree with Zed Head with sporadic running on an older car. I can share my experience with a cruddy fuel tank on a 240 I bought that had been sitting for a long time. When mine died out I could pull the suction side hose off the fuel filter and blow back through it until I heard bubbling noises in the tank. Reconnect the hose and go like hell trying to get back home. It wasn't rust as it didn't stick to a magnet, just cruddy fuel. I had to drop the tank and clean it then I coated it with Red-Kote tank liner. has been fine for 4 years now? Try that, maybe it'll help you get closer to figuring it out. After acid cleaning... After Red-Kote...

Would that be considered a heat riser maybe? Someone may have made it to clip on a header runner?

Here's the guy that found it.
  5. Clearing a path is a major step for me in my garage. Congrats!

What about when trashes the car and he says "$500? Seems a little steep to me" I love that movie too!
  8. If he doesn't leave the nozzles dropped, chokes on. I learned that the hard not to smell fuel in my upstairs apartment way. I moved my 240s around and left the chokes pulled back. Bad, bad choice. My garage apartment was a gas fumed bomb.
  9. I've had good luck with baking soda blasting. There's quite a few videos on youtube.com that show how to make one. That stuff is cheap too, messy as hell but it works. Good luck.
  10. Try googling "cylinder head rebuild service" in your country. They are very common in the States. They would make it like new for cheaper than buying another one. Actually if you find one close by they could fix yours without removing it, possibly? I would think there's a way they could test your questions on bad seals or guides etc. maybe just by pulling the valve cover off and visually looking around. If you have a damaged seal someone with experience could tell by viewing it.
  11. Never understood why they didn't have one over the fusible links and battery side, the electrical side. Always blow that side off with air after I wash mine.
  12. Now that's how you burn some buds!
  13. I ran Kendall GT-1 in an old 911 I had. My mechanic swore by that stuff for air cooled motors. He said prop planes used it too. I think it was synthetic or a synthetic blend. I know it was $10 a quart in the '90s and for a 13 quart oil change that was one more reason I went back to Datsun Zs. I've always heard you can go from dino oil to synthetic but once you use synthetic you can't go back to dinosaur fossils???

  15. The E31 closeness to the bottom edge makes me think the 31k head has been cut too. Mine doesn't look as close as that one and it definitely had a cut. Could be the angle of the photo though so it's just a guess. Like Zed said "Dog pile on". Everyone is piling on so I thought I would join in too.
  16. Is that covid-19 green splatter all over the walls? Disco lights?
  17. Yeah I get that spec sheet, seen it a lot but who put the the Schneider 274 cam and componets in?

In twenty years I'll post about how the 280s were used like a sex swing in my teens. Open hatch with legs hanging out.
  19. You say no one in Panama can work on the L motor. How/who put that Schneider cam in? As I recall it came from Ebay crook California Datsun with a "Far 311" cam. Please correct me if I'm confused. Very often occurence with me.

It's deep down inside the housing. You'll need a pick type something to get it out and I'm pretty sure I used a 10mm deep socket to get the new one down inside.
  21. I'm know E31 aficionado but mine has spent some time at a machine shop. Bigger valves were put in and the bottom was skimmed for true flatness. Mine... The "31k" cars...
  22. Do you think the piton is making contact @Mark Maras with the plug? The hotter plugs are longer right?
  23. A little-known American automaker has just snatched the title of world's fastest production car. SSC North America announced Monday that its Tuatara hypercar reached an average speed of 316.11 miles per hour during two record-breaking dashes outside Las Vegas. The vehicle, which was tested on a seven-mile stretch of a Nevada highway on Saturday, also reached the highest speed ever achieved on a public road, at 331.15 miles per hour, according to the company. The official top speed of 316 miles per hour is the result of two runs in opposite directions, to account for wind and road variations. SSC said that two independent witnesses were on site to verify the world records. The Tuatara, which has butterfly doors and produces 1,750 horsepower from a turbocharged V-8 engine, is the second vehicle built by SSC to earn the title of world's fastest production car, according to the company. It says the model's aerodynamic design was inspired by fighter jets, taking more than a decade of research and development.
  24. My 240's battery is dead. I drove the 280 to work a couple of times this month. Like Lamont told Fred, you are porcelian, I am China.
  25. A third party with no intetest is always better. What Z enthusiasts doesn't know anout classiczcars.com? Apparently they're out there.
