  1. I learned the "quick and dirty" adjustment way. It was right up my shady tree mechanical way of thinking. Once I read it a few times then did a couple, all that carb talk made sense. And to @Jeff G 78 height difference in the '72 carbs I robbed float lid off a spare set I had and made both lids rear carb float level. The rears have shorter ears to compensate for acceleration. Going up a steep mountain one time I the front carb ran low and I was only running on the back carb, cylinders 4, 5 and 6. I had a 3 cylinder 240Z for a minute.
  2. Was there a difference in the way the motor ran that you noticed going to HF and Home Depot?
  3. I've always had the best search results by typing simple keywords and ending with classiczcars.com. If it's something I remember reading from a member I put their name next to last then classiczcars.com. Most of the time I hit IMAGES and go from what I've seen in threads. Our forum is fantastic but searching within the database is lacking for sure. I'm about to start using duckduckgo.com. Google has gone to the dark side where the money is, assholes. Maybe I'll use Ask Jeeves on AOL. Sorry for the detour.
  4. You can pinch the fuel hose between the filter and the fuel rail. Should be hard if it's got proper pressure. I think you have fuel problems too. Sounds very familiar to what I had. A filthy fuel tank. Do you have a clear filter coming out of the tank? You need one to see if there's trash in the tank. Fram G3 works best on the 280.

Fastwoman, Sarah, was the best. She was unbelievably helpful with me and my '77. We all miss her. She was a Volvo lover too then went head first into the efi 280 like you. Once we got them right the fun went away. I can't remember what she bought but I bought two 240s. I kept the best one now I'm bored again.
  6. I just noticed on a clutch master I replaced a few weeks ago that clevis thing came on the new one. I can give you some measurements later today if you might can use it. I was going to throw this away anyway.

The potentiometer I have is almost a toy now that it's corrected my below 2,500 rough running. When I'm on the interstate I can dial it around and run cooler temps at higher speeds and also better MPGs. It's a better than futzing with the radio knobs like the old days. I have a love/hate for my smartphone. Cost me $5 at Radio Shack years ago. Good read here...
  8. https://www.thezstore.com/product/2203/factory-clutch-brake-pedal-clevis-pin-74-78-260z- The Z Store, might measure one they have in their parts bin? Give them a call, nice guys.
  9. I remember removing the brackets that hold the compressor to swap out a bad fuel pump. One on the bottom and then the fan had to come off to get the top one. It was an ordeal for sure. York system lives in storage now.
  10. This probably has nothing to do with your current issue but I read the bcdd removal and wanted to ask if you plugged that little hole in the front of the throttle blade?
  11. http://ace240z.com/window rollers.html Might be helpful?
  12. Is the smaller black wire to solenoid where the spade connector clicks on the copper blade looking terminal in good solid shape. I honestly don't know if that could hurt the solenoid but I can't see the connection so I do not know. 😁
  13. If the starter or solenoid gets hot you may have a bad ground connection. Shine up the contact surface on the cable and the block. Might help.
  14. I want to day 5/16 OD?
  15. Here's one that looks more like the 2023 Z. I really like these and have had good luck with Toyotas. Jeff you are my hero, well you and Guy...many more too.
  16. Dog's in good health just older and tired BUT the ride to the other side of my small town in the Z was so neat and funny. He sits so low in the seat all that people see is his head which is 2 eyeballs a nose and ears. He has huge ears and they were flying around like a hairless duck. 😄 It was great. I did loose a front centercap though. Crossed a few train tracks at a good rate of speed so no big deal. Can hardly wait to get him out more now the sun has set away from here. What a miserable summer we all had.
  17. You could clamp off the return line coming out the bottom of the FPR to raise fuel pressure. That's how I found out mine was lean and then added the potentiometer to add fuel through the coolant sensor.
  18. Gave the Beefeaters the day off and eased out one of my crown jewels. Cranked up and ran good but all that sitting ruined another break cylinder. My dog has a doctor's appointment Thursday morning and he likes riding in this rather than my truck so I half assed cleaned it up for him.
  19. The heat shield needs some trimming too, on mine anyway. Post #21
  20. I had to trim some aluminum off the bell housing that my msa 6 to 1 header was barely rubbing on the 280 5 speed transmission. Did not on the 240 with another 5 speed just like it.
  21. I hope you won't have to add a resonator like I did. Luckily it's not too expensive if you get one in their stock. I think mine is 18" and they charged like $50 maybe? The resonator was $20 i remember that. Odd that my 2.4 did not have any odd noises, drones. They both sound great and are quite if you step lightly.
  22. Have you tried flipping that Z shaped pipe at the rear? My outlet right before the muffler is all the way up. Your's looks lower. Good luck, you'll get it I'm positive.

A working horn isn't going to stop the yelling. Not for me anyway.
