  1. Could be the throw out bearing? My 280 does it when in neutral with no clutch engagement. I pressed it on the collar myself. Next time I had my machinest press the bearing on my 240. It's as quite as a church mouse.
  2. That could've been the T boner?
  3. You are the Duke of hazards.
  4. It's a ZX 2+2 transmission with the original R-180 chunk.
  5. Come on down to Alabam! Weather is nice here compared to other's. It's only 99F here. I'm having trouble between gas price and temperature signs.
  6. I think this plug made my work so simple. I got it off a junkyard ZX here, local. Really clean and simple, hidden inside wire moulding. And it is a PS 20 coil. Here's the speedos in my cars. 280 first... 240...
  7. Yes sir. I found the crane fireball p20, I believe, has the right ohms. This mostly...
  8. My '72 does way better with the wide B 5 speed. 75mph to 80mph with 15" wheels turns about 2,200rpms in 5th. I had to get the right trans speedo cog to be right but it's right according to a GPS I borrowed from a friend.
  9. I can say that I have an OE '72 240Z tach that works as it should with an E12-80 ZX distributor. "I" did it myself from "Blues tech tips" without any problems. I'm stressing that I did it, you're way deeper than I ever could be and without walking downstairs I'm almost positive my 240 has more of a block style numbering than my 280. You can do it. 🙂
  10. Klassic Fab... https://kfvintagejdm.com/shop/datsun-280z/complete-rear-frame-rail-right-side-datsun-280z/
  11. I saw this about a loose locking screw? It's on ZedHead's first atlanticz link, about halfway down.
  12. here's a good read. another one...
  13. Post 8 maybe?
  14. I don't know if more fuel in the chambers would make one run any different? Too low, most definitely but mine are set higher and it runs good. He can check that doing the ol runs dirty test Blue talks about. Unhook 1-3 then four through six and listen for any difference. It should run on each carb although crappy but just one carb.
  15. 69F this morning so I uncovered the 240Z. Two hours driving around here, ran perfect. It had 72,xxx when I bought it in 2015 now it has 78,855.
  16. I think I could pass with a stand-in copy? We could put a couple close together and do the "shake and bake"?
  17. I'm going to work until 12pm Saturday the 30th. I could ride down and do the award's dinner but not 100% on that. My most loved dog has to have a benign (hopefully) tumor cut off on the 25th. It's going to be $500-ish or less, he's a big dog so things cost more. If I see you, lucky for me. I've got a shed full of parts that someone may need. In that case I could make a run down but would need to come back home for work.
  18. 6 speed quick shift? We don't need no clutches.
  19. If it ran so so with full choke on new carbs then I think I would check float chamber levels and fuel delivery. Close off the return and see how it runs. That should build more fuel.

I used a silver Sharpie on my radio face plate and it turned out great.
  21. Good read here... And some more... .
  22. You can kind of guess by looking at original heads ID stamp. The uncut ones will have about a 1/16" space between the lettering and the head's bottom deck. If it's been cut the lettering is right at the bottom.
  23. What does this go to? And I would unhook the throttle cables while trying to figure it out.
