l28build questions
Malibud, could you please give out John Williams info, phone # or website? I'm closer to the Big A myself and have only heard of Eddie Radatz in Kennesaw. Thanks for any info. Cliff

DIY shelves, cheap too.
I saw one of these at a yard sale Saturday and had to make one. Knock a couple of slats off the pallet for the bottoms then cut off all the rest. With a sawz-all and a nail gun it took 20 minutes to figure it out and make. More room for Z parts now.

Engine and tranny mating
I put an Exedy in mine when I rebuilt the motor. The throw out bearing made a little noise when disengaged but the sound went away after a month or so, very happy with the clutch. I did not replace the rear transmission seal, $3, and it dripped so I had to remove the drive shaft to replace it. I got in a hurry. Tom Monroe says to make the Pilot Bearing "sweat" by holding it with your thumb and 1st finger and filing with oil then squeeze until you see it sweat the oil out, kinda neat how it does it. Have fun!

Buying parts off amazon
I've gotten many parts and tools from amazon.com for my engine rebuild. I too prefer them over ebay, never paid a shipping charge, it's always been priced more than their $25 minimum or I guess I've always made it priced more than $25. Easy to do! No hassle or charge if you have to return something.

Add on air on a 240Z
I bought a '72 with Dealer installed air. I never use it but everyone that sees it always comment on the fact it has the complete system, so I'm assuming it's a pretty good addition. I guess I'll know for sure if I ever sale it. I'd keep it.

To stripe or not to stripe????
I like the original stripes on mine but the ones they sale now I do not like, the ones that have the open block style "240Z". So when I can afford to repaint it'll be stripe-less. No more Starsky & Hutch. :disappoin

I need to whine some
I've had a couple of 4 ankle fusions over the years and get laid up for 9 months at least after the surgeries. After the 2nd one I found out that you read your prescriptions backwards, Dyslexic style, TAKE 4 EVERY 1 HOURS, wash em down with that whine.

Electrical Connectors
On my '77 they are the same. You get a good deal off ebay with connectors and heat shrink to cover the solder. He has kits of 6 and 10, don't forget the cold start valve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/injector-connector-kit-6pc-datsun-280z-280zx-300zx/290452375892?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=019&category=33553&cmd=ViewItem

l28build questions
That's a good thread madkaw, I've read until my eyes bled but hadn't found that one. I have the F54 block with dished pistons and an E31 head minus the cam. Now I'm feeling a little better about the pistons that came with it.

Pneumatic tool oil in SUs
I've read that air tool oil is the same as sewing machine oil and that sewing machine oil works well in the SU carbs. Going to try and adjust mine this weekend and am gathering up all the stuff I'll need. Has anybody tried using that stuff or should I just buy fork oil from a bike shop, I've got about 2 qts. of tool oil already and we only have 1 motorcycle shop in town and they are higher than a giraffes butt. Dog riding in hatch, not good!
I've got another dog story for all the animal lovers out there. About a month ago this little red nosed bull dog shows up at my Mom's house, she lives in a dog dumping neighborhood- lots of houses with white picket fences and kids playing everywhere. I brought him home with me while she ran an add in the local paper, no response. I put him on a couple of Bully Rescue sites and made him a facebook page. After 3 weeks I got someone interested in him. Drove an hour and a half to meet them and noticed a BAMAZON tag on the husbands truck. They fell in love with the puppy so I started loading his crate and some toys he played with into his truck when I asked him if he knew the guys on the show BAMAZON, he says "I am one of the guys"! So that little puppy now lives with a TV star on 50 acres of land on Lake Martin in south Alabama with a little boy too. If you've ever seen the show it is Darrel's dog now. Good ending for everybody.

Kinda Cool
That's how to take care of something right there. My covers are covered with grease and other smudgy looking stuff, I'm out of room in my garage so I pile stuff on top of the cars. Yes that is cool, I'm jealous.

Dog riding in hatch, not good!
The 240 came with a complete rubber seal kit from MSA. That's my springtime project for sure, the hatch seal is barely there and around the doors it's coming apart too. My Dad and step monster are on their 3rd Pug, names Milo, he's a black one instead of fawn. Faints like those goats do only he does it when he gets hot instead of startled like the goats. It doesn't sound too funny but the Vet says it's common so we laugh like hell when he does it then carry him inside to a cold tub of water, then he's back snorting! Love those dogs.
