Seems like I needed to remove the front torsion bar, or at least one side, and get it out of the way to drop or install with the motor in. Here again I did this. There may be a way I didn't see? I agree with RacerX. It would be much easier to put the cover on without the pump. The way you have to time the spindle with the crank gear also. There's a trick Tom Monroe's book has that works for me. I'll post that in a little while when I can find it. Edit: sway bar

Yes, the top of the rectangle is 23mm down from the underside of the lid. This is a picture I've always used for reference. I can't remember who to credit for it but Jarvo or Zkars always pop up in my head. I use the clear tubing too just like the photo.

I can't tell from the photo if you have it bolted down yet but I have always heard to start in the middle and tighten them down. Working your way to the ends as you go. Maybe the others could correct me but that's what I've always done.

The roll up headlights were very expensive on my 944. They were problematic for mine but other than that regular maintenance was normal, timing belt replacement should have a sticker on the top radiator support showing when the work was was done. 928 and 944s are raising in value finally. They were a blip in Porsche history and made for few years only. Porsche and Audi were together during those years and did some swapping around. I had a 944 with an Audi motor. One of the best cars I've ever owned as far as driving but we all know the front engine was a resale killer. I'm glad to see the value coming back as they were great cars to drive.

I would be a negative too. Description says new floats. They were $200 5 years ago if you could find them. I'm glad you went with ztherapy. Maybe you could sales yours to the ebay girl? There's a set for sale on here now for $250 and they look to be ready to go. That's cheap to me, the rebuild kits are $230. If it were me I would pay the $200 and keep them.

Can you look at the butterflys in the carbs? They should be closed. I think it's something in the linkage too if you've been working on that area. Here's something that I had out of order that caused high revs. This is a picture of the right way by the way. Oh yeah. Now my turn to play Captain Obvious. If you put a new ignition switch in maybe you got a wire in the wrong spot?

That's what mine looked like too. Turned out the floats were keeping the fuel level low and starving the carbs. It was very clear once I drove up a steep mountain. The front carb went dry and I was running on the back 3 cylinders.

Cat 5 data wire is what I use for stringing stuff. No where near what you guys are doing but it's cheap and works for me. 5 pairs=10 copper wires. 500ft for $50.

Try removing the air filter and see how it runs with the cold air coming directly in. Won't cost anything...
