You can also find a lot of good info in the fsm it's hard to find but search for it and download it get the 72 240z fsm and the 74 260z fsm as those carbs are most likely 72

Your going to need to set your floats and clean your needle and seat the problem is that it isn't shutting off the incoming fuel grab a 1/2 inch drill bit as your measurement between the float and lid and bend the float until it touches the drill bit And that line gets a hose on it and goes to your air cleaner
  7. The black pearl lives again!!!!! I sold her to buy a new car that was safer for my son and it took 2 years to get her back but.... I did Turns out the oil pump shaft had been rotated carbs had been screwed with and radiator now leaks but hey I sold her So today I remedied all of those besides carbs cause that's a bi*** and took her for a spin first time since I got her back and first time for her in almost two years Couple backfires loss of power and hesitation on acceleration but dammit I did it
  8. This looks like a fantastic start if you wanted a 2+2 77 280z 2+2
  9. I rented the vacuum tester thing from autozone and the regulator held vacuum. So that steered me away initially, but heres the real cause for confusion.. my fuel pump is on a switch in the center console.
  10. fuel pressure regulator is out or giant vacuum leak but i did the starting fluid test for leaks (the one where you spray all around the intake while turning it over) and there are none, i also re- checked and re-tightened all of my bolts to my intake and we should be good
  11. so it runs intermittently sometimes it just fires enough to turn the motor faster than the starter. and sometimes it runs when running it will not rev or it will die it also idles at around 2500 there is no tach so its hard to pinpoint exactly. but it runs.... kinda. the bcdd system has a wire that has no mate on my harness. it is the factory bcdd system, and factory harness. im tempted to just save 700 and get su's from ztherapy. unless there's something that makes sense thanks for the help.
  12. i used a test light so +12 volts, and i pulled the plastic side cover off the a.f.m. for the test. I am running a w48 intake off of a maxima with the 280z wiring harness i have already swapped the throttle body because of the electronically controlled idle control on the maxima it will run for a minute very occaisionally but when it does it just dies my initial thought is vacuum leak but the starting fluid test did othing so all vaccum ports are capped and there are no leaks.
  13. I have tested all injectors the a.f.m,. the fuel pump, the connectors to the c.s.i., water temp sensor, and the other water temp sensor thing with the single plug. The a.f.m. is making the injectors click when you open it. the fuel pump is pumping 38 psi. the c.s.i. is getting no power turning the car over, or with the ignition on run? i have replaced the ignition switch and the water temp sensors are both getting power. would the cold start injector keep it from running. and i am getting great spark i installed an e12-80
  14. What was the issue? I have the same one... Everything looks good and it starts but dies immediately.

the E-12 80 upgrade was difficult because i had previously been set up for points so i had to drop my oil pump and move it over a tooth, sound much easier than it is but anyway. that's done and she's driving smooth much more power. trans gear oil flush, because i had no oil in it after swapping it in. its so much better to have a four speed than an automatic. radiator flush it needed it bad. hooked my heater core up its nice to have a heater installed stereo W/ 4" speakers in sun visors and 6.5" alpines on the rear deck sounds nice. dont worry i have extra sun visors. sanded and repainted my dash's metal vent thing new wipers 19 bucks a pop rediculous! and new plugs f**k you autolite hello NGK. then I put 165 miles on her feels good to drive her finally.

I had to scrap it I had pulled everything out and there was no fixing it, it had no frame rals and if i would have jumped on it too hard I would have broke it in half. i dont have a camera for pics sorry sblake but it was sad man.

I never even dreamt of cutting a z car into peices but thats what i did today four seperate peices that when put together equal a z car this has to be the saddest day of my life.
  20. im lookin for a 78 turn signal switch do you have one by chance
  21. definately more of a crossfire look zbane you nailed it
  22. I had the same problem.. the distributor can actually be put in 180 degrees backwards it is just very hard to do and the chances are it bent your oil pump shaft it took me about 20 minutes to replace the shaft and the car fired right up with no missing and double or triple the power.
