Tach / rev counter input voltage
Just an idea - is the input signal to the tach / rev counter simply a 12v square wave? The reason I'm asking is because at present my tach is not attached, which is quite annoying! The Haltech E6K engine management system provides a 5v square wave from its tacho output (as far as I am aware), so I'm thinking it may just be possible to boost this signal and use the standard tacho? I have a 1971 240z btw, HS30-00829 If not it looks like having to go the autometer route...

more 1jz 240z pics
Just went through some of the documentation for my new car yesterday and saw Ben Ellis (the previous owner) had left a CD with some pictures of the car at the port. Good man!! Have a look in my gallery!

Competition ceramic, spring centred clutch
Yet another ques about my new car! I've got a competition ceramic, spring centred clutch fitted (the previous brass button solid type was supposedly a bit too harsh). I was told that the clutch will slip if released slowly, but if 'popped' out quickly it will hold, and this is a feature of the clutch. Has anyone heard of this? I guess I'll just have to get used to driving it this way! Cheers all

Hazard Lights
Just got my 71 240z, and found that it does not have hazard warning lights. The previous owner said that pre 73 cars in australia did not have them, which I'm not too sure about, can anyone confirm this? In any case is it an easy job retro fit this? Also I wondered what type of fusebox would I need for the car (HS30-00829), as the one in it has melted a bit... cheers all

the 240JZ is here!
Will borrow a digital camera hopefully this weekend and take some pics, after I've given it a good clean - its filthy after being in the container! Not much more has been done since the articles An R200 LSD has been fitted, which I'm sure will help, and also some more tuning has been done. It now gets 200kw at the wheels at 11psi don't know what the 15psi figure would be! (not that i'll have the boost there for long, unless I want to kill the turbos) Wish I had the zoom articles, Ben (previous owner) photocopied them for me, but if anyone has the issue numbers I'd like to get hold of them and see if I can find some originals. Can't wait to get it registered and get to drive it 'properly' !

the 240JZ is here!
Finally my 71 240z with a 1JZ-GTE engine has arrived (the one from the zoom articles), its been a long time coming! Had a long (for the UK) drive home and it ran great, although as I didn't have plates on it, I had to be very careful. Just as I was about 2 miles from home however, I saw the dreaded flashing lights behind me, and was pulled over by the police. turns out my rear lights weren't working! I was expecting a big grilling about why no plates etc. and expected to have to get all the docs out about the car, but the policeman was more interested in the car itself, ha! he even said 'how fast will it go? - actually don't answer that!' ha! he then even gave me an escort home. Not often you'd get that! Unfortunately as I drove on even more electricals started to glitch, wipers stopped working, headlights worked intermitently.. hope its not time for a new fusebox, haven't had a chance to inspect it yet. Anyone know of a good fusebox for HS30-00829 71 Z in the UK????? Next step is the MOT, and the registration. Cross my fingers time again! If anyone can help me with the details for the registration (V55/5) such as length, width, mass (?) could you please contact me... it'd be a real help. many thanks in advance. I'll take some pics and get them up soon!

260z Samuri Conversion in Australia For Sale
I very much agree with Alan ..as I ranted about in the thread here: rant thread When I first decided I wanted a modifed 240z I was blinded by the press and clubs and thought that what I wanted was a samuri. I actually nearly bought one, but after I looked into it I found as Alan said, that there really wasn't that much special about them apart from the 'special' paint scheme . I ended up buying a similar spec DJ road & race built car (2.8 port job, GDS exhaust etc. etc.) which went just as well and saved about 1k or more. There was still no section for me at the yearly UK show, since there was only a 'samuri' section, and no modifed... V frustrating... who knows what section my new car will be in with its 1jz engine!!

Vote on a Wheel!
I think mine looks pretty similar to the 'race' type - hard to tell!! How easy is it to park with those real small wheels though!?

Newbie to this Forum!
First of all have to say the car looks great. I was on the verge of getting my old car completely restored in one form or another, but instead took the easy (!?!) route of getting one imported. You make me feel guilty now great work, will we get to see it at japfest or billing??
