L24's , L31's and heads
Started up the car after work the other day and the head sounded like it has something broken in it. With the sound of cash registers ringing in my ears, I wonder if I could get some help/information regarding a rebuild. The thing is, at some stage in the future I would like to build an L31. I don't have the room to put the original block aside at the moment so I will have to stick with the L24 for the time being. As I might as well do a head rebuild properly, I don't want to throw money at something which is suitable for the L24 and not an L31. Basically, what I'm asking is - is there an appropriate head which I can build up, put on the L24 block and then later use on an L31? Help!!

door trims off - car useable?
It'll look pretty "Mad Max" inside, but yes, you will be able to use the door as normal. Might also be a good opportunity to spray some sort of rust prevention goop in the bottoms of the doors too.. Are you refurbishing them, or getting the done somewhere?

Was this a z??

I actually pulled in about 3 cars after you Lachlan, but they shepherded me to the other carpark. There were meant to be more zeds, dunno what happened.. We went for a walk to try and find your car - the other guys were very impressed. I especially like the Japanese stickers you have on the rear window - a really nice touch. Are the Wat's 3 piece? The yellow car referred to is Simon's..(see link) Yellow z

I think it was about $30 a wheel. They came back so shiny it looked like they'd been chromed.. nothing like I could have done myself. These are the photos from an ad aren't they? You should join the Brisbane z club.. www.zcarclubq.org.au

Anyone have photos of 16x8 wats/konigs on a car?

ask me anything
Why when you watch cars accelerate away from a standing start do their wheels appear to rotate in one direction and then appear to rotate the other way as the car gets quicker?

turn signal lever is mushy
It could be that the heater hoses (that run behind your dash) are leaking. Sounds like more time spent upside-down under the dash fixing stuff!!

Ebay Australia, "modified" 240z
I'd love to know what goes through people's minds before they decide to do this, especially considering a Cobra replica is about 50 grand.

1974 240z
Sorry, got the name of the plate wrong. What I was trying to say is that it was obviously sold in 74. I was thinking that this couldn't have happened too often..

1974 240z
Hence the wierd nature of it. It was definately a 240. It had 240z on the build plate and all the correct 240 parts on it, but the VIN plate said /74. I think it was built in very late 73 but not complianced (or whatever) until 74. I've never heard of this before and was interested to see if others had.

It had /74 on the VIN plate.

SU copies. The car was Kalahari Tan w/black interior and formerly a Tassie car..

1974 240z
Saw a 74 240z the other day. I took a photo of the VIN plate so I'll post it when I can. Anyone else seen this? It also had 240z interior door trims but pull handles on both doors... wierd. Must be one of the last 240's ever..

Possible 240z engines?
If are looking at z's and aren't really that fussed about models I would also suggest you take a look at 260's. Cost for you is obviously an important factor and 260's tend to be slightly cheaper than 240's for cars in similar condition. Consider joining the club BEFORE you purchase the car. A fair few get sold between members and never make it out into the "open" market - particularly the good examples. In addition, you will probably find people prepared to help you find the RIGHT vehicle who know more than your average Joe about the important things to look for when buying a z. I'll admit that I have a barrow to push. I'm a member of the club, but the annual fee is far outweighed even by just the knowledge pool available to me. Welcome to a word of masochism and joy!

Queensland Z Car Cruise
I think you'll find even some of the old blokes have some "modernised" cars. Depends if it's tasteful or not though... You may even find someone who has done what you plan to do already. There's a fair wealth of knowledge there..
