Oh crap.. another zed!
$3,400. Up there for a 2+2 but definately worth it. No cracks in the dash. No cracks in the centre console. I will post some photos soonish. Oh yeah, and if anyone has a clip for the rear seat (ie. that holds the rear part of the seat upright) we want that too, the one in it doesn't work too well. We also just noticed that it has the original leads on it.. hehehe, they're even dated. The clock works too!

Oh crap.. another zed!
My brother has just bought a 2+2. I wouldn't normally push anyone toward one, but the car was IMMACULATE and very cheap. It still even has the dealer delivery plastic around the passenger hoop in the footwell!! So to turn it into an absolute stunner I am chasing a few bits for him.. so.. WANTED!! -260z 2+2 rear hatch badges - exhauast manifold to suit L26 (pre emissions ones), can be standard, don't need to be headers etc -240z carbs Can anyone help? I'm in Melb, Aust. Will hopefully post pictures later today. It's a MINTER.. only 103,000k's, full service history. YAY!

What tranny do I have?
Spot on! No bush at ALL there... hmmm... now to chase one down!

What tranny do I have?
Awesome! I'm redoing the interior of the car at the moment so the console is out right now. So I just pull the stick out and have a look on the end do I?

What tranny do I have?
Hey Ben, I have the A type box (I think) off an early 260. As you said, the shift is quite sloppy, what does this mean? i.e. what has worn? I can also beat the synchros into 3rd sometimes, I guess this means that the synchros on third are stuffed I suppose? Nice lil article by the way..

Air Conditioning in 240z
The air-con was plumbed in by z spares down here in Melbourne and uses the original air-vents. It's very neat and the only thing you can see is a little box under the dash and some gizmos under the bonnet.

Air Conditioning in 240z
He's a pretty proud owner. Someone at the place he got the A/C done scratched the door, so he was pretty pissed off. Other than that it seems to be the most rust free z I've ever seen (non restored), tis a shame I bought mine a few weeks before as I would have travelled to Sydney for it. I think the conversion cost him about $1,300 drivein/drive out, he's also had the chassis welded etc. I had a long chat to him as I kinda "knew" the car so I was interested to see what it looked like in real life!! It seemed like a very good car, I hope you're happy with the 8 (which I think was from Melbourne originally??), as the one you sold was bloody straight!!:classic: Gareth

Air Conditioning in 240z
Funny you should say that George, your old 240 now has air-con on it. The bloke who bought it turned up to the Niss/Dat Sports Owners meeting last week and we all got to see it. Mind you, since you sold it he's spent about $3k on it... The air-con was plumbed in using an original kit too...

retro-fitting parts
My main concern is whether the screw holes line up in to tne brackets underneath. I guess I'll have to find q really close-up shot of one to determine that..

OT: What car next??
Hmmm.. if you want a car with a 4age in it, the twin cam corollas (86-90, AE82), SX Corollas (AE92) and the first of the MR2's had em. I have a Twin Cam Corolla with no problems to speak of, and a few mates have the MR2's. None of them are BLINDINGLY quick, but you can rev em to 8500rpm all day with no probs. The MR2's also handle really well, but I'd expect that from a Mid-engined car. They're heaps of fun to drive, but they do look a bit 80's now, still, who cares what they look like when you're fanging your mini-ferrari around the corners!

FS: Z parts and 16inch wheels
Actually, I'll take the bonnet. Can I come around tomorrow?

FS: Z parts and 16inch wheels
If under the bonnet is OK, I'd be interested in your extractors and possibly even your motor. If the front spoiler is about I'd be interested in that too. Hopefully you'll actually make money by getting the salvage rights and then parting the whole thing out!

retro-fitting parts
Do you reckon you could put a small kink in the stick to counter this problem?

interchangable parts for zed
Yep, pretty sure winders are same as 120Y, 200B etc etc. I think the same might even be said for the door handles and the open/close mechanism on the inside of the door. Of course you can get boxes/ motors out of 240k's, 260C's etc etc. Rear strut caps (I believe) are same 260/ 240 blah blah. Don't forget, Nissan raided the parts bin to make these cars, so anything they didn't have to remanufacture they just nicked off other cars... Maybe we should start a list?

retro-fitting parts
Here's one for the guru's.. Can you retro-fit the early centre console (i.e. choke and throttle lever) to a later, 73 240? I really like the look of it and I can't get a decent 240 dash to save myself! PLEASE help!!!

door trims
Thanks Nigel! Just sourced an early one without cracks (and I get the natty hand throttle - yay!) .. I'm still lookin for everything else tho!
-
door trims
Does anyone in Oz have a nice centre console or door trims (don't care what colour) to suit a 240 for sale? I guess I'd even go 260 trims if they were cheap!

No start on new install :(
I'd disconnect the hose that runs from the fuel pump to the tank and put it in a bottle of fuel and then try to turn it over - it's a bit bodgy, but if it can suck from that you may have a blockage in the tank or in the fuel line. As said above you could try squirting neat fuel or a can of aerostart into the intakes to try and make it turn over.

Black... or gold?
So where are you getting em from Alfa? I wouldn't mind a set myself!

Automatic or Manual
I just recently converted a 240 from auto to manual. The difference is huge performance wise, however if you want a cruise car the auto aint too bad I guess. Without a high-stall torque converter it'll never be a ball-tearer though..
-
Z Dizzy's
Thanks guys.. got all the bits today for 30 bucks (that's err.. about 18US I guess ) ) . One question though, what exactly is the ballast resistor and what does it look like? My ignorance, I'm used to dealing with cars with points I'm afraid..

Parting Out 2+2
I'd be interested in the panel between the windscreen and the bonnet (don't know what it's called), if it's rust free!! If it has extractors I'd be interested in them too!
