  1. Thanks Rolf. I've always enjoyed your submissions to Sport Z and hope you keep sending us stuff at Nissan Sport. Dave Bexfield Editor, Nissan Sport www.nissansportmag.com
  2. Greetings Classic Z Car Club, I see you obviously have heard the sad news that the publisher of Sport Z, Robert Bell, has decided to retire. But sometimes, when one door closes, another opens. In other words, don't panic. What's behind that door will make you S30 fans breath easier. I’d like to introduce Nissan Sport, a new all-Nissan, all-Datsun, all-Infiniti magazine started and co-owned by the key now-former employees of Sport Z Magazine. That also means me, former SZM editor-in-chief, now managing editor of Nissan Sport. It also means Art Singer, he's still the associate publisher and still a pain in the arse. Most if not all key writers from Sport Z are coming aboard (still in the process of contacting all of them). Just about every advertiser has offered Nissan Sport their full support and commitment. More importantly, though, we worked out an agreement with Bob Bell late Friday afternoon of last week that will make fans of Sport Z ecstatic. Nissan Sport will honor--in full--all Sport Z subscriptions and will have the same great Z coverage. Our Project 240Z continues, and we plan to add weekly coverage on our website. Doc Demers has great S30 tech articles waiting for publication. We have a gaggle of 240s, 260s and 280s waiting in the wings for features. Yes, there will be some changes. Nissan Sport will be shipped in a protective polybag. The annual subscription price drops to only $14.95. And we are expanding page count by at least another eight pages since we will be accommodating the full line of Nissan vehicles (not all at once, mind you). Look for the first issue to be mailed out in early September. Essentially, 90 percent of the magazine that was going to ship this Summer as Sport Z will ship this Fall as Nissan Sport. Right now we have an introductory special of $12.95, which expires July 31. For more information on Nissan Sport, including a detailed FAQ on how much Z coverage you can expect and a look at our Project 240Z area, go to our website, www.nissansportmag.com. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Please pass this information along to your friends, forum members, and fans of Sport Z. I apologize for not getting this announcement out sooner. Art, DaveO, Mike and I have been working late nights for much of the past month to make this happen. We didn't want to see the opportunity to build on a great magazine go away. The Nissan Sport team is determined to deliver the absolute best niche car magazine on the market, and any support you can offer is much appreciated. This will be one of my last posts as Sport Z Magazine. Look for me soon under Nissan Sport. If you have questions, write me anytime at daveb@nissansportmag.com. Thanks for the understanding and see you in our pages. Dave Bexfield Editor, Nissan Sport www.nissansportmag.com
  3. Check out Art Singer's potential "Project 240Z" on page 70 of the new Fall 2005 issue of Sport Z Magazine. It's, let's just say, a tad rusty. Calling it an oxidation fest would be a considerable understatement. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine www.sportzmagazine.com
  4. Thanks for all the compliments (and we pay attention to every criticism). The entire staff is excited about our 240Z resto series. But beyond that, we already have several articles written and ready to run on the S30. Too many articles too little space? Perhaps, which is why we are making an announcement, lips sealed for now, in the not-so-distant future. Let's just say our early gen Z fans will not be dissapointed. Hit me with your cars, your suggestions, whatever at editor@sportzmagazine.com. Thanks. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine www.sportzmagazine.com
  5. Brian Long, respected Z author and Sport Z’s Japan correspondent, has interviewed Yoshihiko Matsuo, chief designer of the 240Z. His article is scheduled to appear in Sport Z Magazine’s Winter 2003 edition, and we’d like to include photographs and short descriptions of readers’ 240s. Specifically we need: 1) Name, city, state (or country) 2) 1-2 excellent photographs of your 240, digital or print 3) Short description and/or story, 1-3 paragraphs, about your car We need all submissions by October 1. Descriptions and digital photographs should be e-mailed to editor@sportzmagazine.com, and they need to be of high resolution (150KB file size or larger). Print photographs can be mailed to me directly: Dave Bexfield c/o Sport Z Magazine 10219 Arroyo Crest NW Albuquerque, NM 87114-5805 Thanks for the help! For this article, we prefer Zs with a minimum of modifications, but all will be considered. Good luck. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine www.sportzmagazine.com
  6. The deadline to get the Spring 2003 issue of Sport Z Magazine with your paid subscription is Monday, February 24. And all new subscribers will be entered in a drawing to receive The Run, Nissan’s dramatic new 350Z DVD. Order at www.sportzmagazine.com or call 505-867-4322 (Associate Pub Art Singer) or 505-771-2374 (Art's mom). Thanks, as always, for the support. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine www.sportzmagazine.com p.s. If you talk to Art, you may need to provide a shoulder. His 240Z--the nicest Z he'd ever owned--was recently totaled. Fortunately he wasn't seriously injured.
  7. The new Fall 2002 (Issue #8) edition of Sport Z Magazine marks two full volumes of magazines for our publication. To celebrate, we’re offering a FREE bonus issue with any 2-year subscription or 2-year renewal: 9 issues (instead of 8) for only $30.95, less than $3.45 an issue. But hurry, this offer expires Friday, August 23. Order now at http://www.sportzmagazine.com/Z_Subscribe.html or call me at circulation, 505-771-2374. Our Fall 2002 issue, which will be in the mail next week, features the process of turbocharging a 240Z, an update to our 280Z project car (and a new engine management system just introduced to the U.S.--a Sport Z exclusive), and more. BTW, just found out that our Winter edition will feature a pristine 240Z from England, as written by veteran scribe Ben Millspaugh. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine www.sportzmagazine.com
  8. We’re excited to announce that the Summer 2002 issue of Sport Z Magazine gains eight juicy pages--an increase of nearly 20 percent. We’ve also freshened our cover and redesigned sections of the magazine. Here are a few of the changes you’ll see: --More modification and restoration articles, including articles aimed especially at the budget-minded enthusiast. --A new “Buy It!” section with each article, which includes phone numbers and website addresses of all manufacturers mentioned. --Improved “Shifting Gears” with new items like Z Fanatic, Reader Tips (coming Fall 2002), Sport Z Poll, 3 Questions, Z Trivia, and the SG Ticker. --Extra “Z Sightings” of your cars, and much more (including a future article from 240Z.org's Mike Gholson--no pressure, Mike). With a growing list of committed advertisers and loyal subscribers, Sport Z hopes to maintain this expanded page count. For a more detailed look at our improvements, visit www.sportzmagazine.com. To answer any questions you may have, I’ll be manning the circulation phone line, 505-771-2374, for the next two days (May 13 & 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern). Thanks again for all your support and for making this magazine what it is today. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine editor@sportzmagazine.com 505-771-2374 (circulation) p.s. 9. Hey Mike, checked into it and we had you down for starting your subscription with the Winter 2001 issue (in which your site was mentioned). You should already have that copy and your Spring 2002 issue should arrive soon (with Newman on the cover). Your fische was mentioned again in this latest issue (I'm not sure how you managed that!). The Summer 2001 issue where your CD had a mini-review is on its way. No charge for the back issue because you are such a nice guy... well, pretty nice, anyway. Dave Bexfield Editor, Sport Z Magazine
