Folks, I need a set of the black plastic MSW centercaps that go on my gold mesh MSW wheels. I do have pics I can send anyone who might have a lead for me! They have a nuimber on the back of M 075, about 2 inch diameter with the MSW logo on the front. Any leads would be appreciated! Contact me at dcarrman@charter.net. Thanks! Here's something else to think about. My '75 280 with L28ET had been barfing a little coolant now and then out the overflow. Usually about a gallon every other month. Tried changing radiator caps, but that didn't help. Figured it was just the nature of the beast since it didn't have a surge tank. Well, last month my Z club was having a work day at a club members auto repair shop, so I decided it was time to do those pesky valve seals that had been leaking. I used compressed air to hold the valves up on the first two cylinders and all went well. When I put air to #3 after about a minute, there arose a horrid gurgling sound from my engine, and all of a sudden it just started heaving coolnt out the overflow........ Guess what? Head gasket was blown. Up to this point the car had not been overheated since I've owned it, and there was never any tail pipe steam, or mixing of engine fluids, but still the same it was blown. Tore it down and found it blown between #3 and #4 cylinders. Just something to think about. Dave Carr
  8. We've got rooms reserved in Gresham for Sat. night. This will be the longest cruise the group has ever undertaken, and we are looking forward to it. I expect about 8 cars to show. Fortunately, I just got the head reinstalled on my 75 turbo car, now I just gotta buff it, and get the Prelude seats in it......... Dave
  9. Z Club of Southern Oregon will be going up this Saturday to attend the show. We're staying at the Super 8 motel on 181st in Gresham. Dave Carr

Folks, I've been searching archives till I'm blue in the face, and I now need to ask for your help. I'm trying to find a set of OEM seats that will work in my '75 280Z. The mounts apparently sit higher than in the 240, so the usual seats used there are too tall for the 280. I test fitted a set from a '91 Talon, which work so well in the 240, and they are just flat too tall for me. I'm only 5'9", but I sit tall in the seat when I drive, and my head would be against the roof. Have any of you successfully transplanted seats from another car into your 280? If so, I need to know year and model of donor car, and what you did to install them. I'm asking this as I don't have the time and resources to run around experimenting with different seats to find something that works, and am hoping to hear from someone who can line me out as to what I can install. Thanks for your help! Dave

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/Headlight_Relay_pg1.htm This is the diagram I used. I'm not familiar enough wiith the 240 wiring to know if you have headlight bucket sub harnesses like the 280 does. That's the key to making it able to be unplugged. Dave

I did just that. Cut a headlight bucket wire harness off of a parts car, and plugged that into the cars harness, the other ends was wired to the relays to provide the trip current to trigger them to work. I can umplug everything and go back to stock if I desired to. Dave Carr 75 280 with L28ET

Have a set of 6 NAPA rebuilt injectors for the L28ET that have never been installed. I'm going to do something different for my set up, so I'm willing to let these go. $160.00 or best offer takes these. Let me know if your interested. E-mail me at dcarrman@charter.net
  15. Guys, there are 2 different calipers which can be used, depends if you want to run stock rotors, or vented ones. Calipers from the 4 cylinder trucks have a casting mark of "S12" and they are used with stock rotors. Calipers from V6 trucks, and the heavier 4-runners are marked "S12W" and are used with vented rotors. These take more work to set everything up.
  16. Car theft was how I got into my 280. I used to have a '73 510 2-door, that I had owned for 11 years. Did a lot of work to it, installing a L20B, SU's, electronic ignition, 5-speed, LSD rear end, sway bars, struts and shocks. Had 78,000 on it when I got it, had 235,000 when she was stolen almost two years ago. Tried to find another 510, but to no avail, as everything was out of my 3,000 price range, or was rusted out junk that too much was eing asked for, so I decided I wanted a Z, as the mechanicals were similar. That's when I found my cherry '75 280 automatic, with working a/c. Now it has a L28ET and B/W T5 tranny. I miss the 510 at times, but the Z helps me get over that, especially when I deliver humility lessons to Porsche owners.......

Yeah, I couldn't beleive it when he smacked that curb and destroyed them. Then we found out they were no longer available. I just about smacked him upside the head.

Looking for at least 2 of these American Racing wheels. My buddy mangled these with a curb and replaced with new wheels of a different design as these are NLA. I can have the two good ones, so I would like to find 2 more....:classic: Any leads on where to find these are appreciated. They are 15x7, 4 on 4.5 bolt pattern. Dave Carr Medford, OR
