Thanks for the great information! I will check out Yahoo group. Lazeum, Yes, My 280z is currently stock condition. I'm planning to stroke to 3.1. That's why I got 45 DCOE instead of 40 DCOE. I heard upto 2.8l, 40 DCOE is better than 45 DCOE. I don't know the detail yet. Leon, Thanks for the offer! Once my 280z become drivable, definitely want to have weber party! I think a couple of more folks might be interested in SF Bay Area. I have free time at lunch and finally I have time to rev my engine. Still haven't install weber. I need to work on brake at first... All the brake fluid leaked out last 10 years on my Z.

But seldum to see people using 45. I found one Japanese web site mention about Weber 45 DCOE with 280z, 240z setting. Weber Carburator Manual - Google Translate I wonder how useful of this setting is. I'm planning to order "power pump jet" (Garage Carry-Back) from Japan. Normal Jet Power Pump Jet Garage Carry-Back - Google Translate But I haven't decide what is the good base setting combination. I would like to exchange setting info! Thanks, tamo3

Welcome to classic Z forum! Your 280z looks good with 240z bumper on it!
  10. After 10 years hibernation, I started basic staff. My goal is to run engine at first. Engine oil & filter change (5 qt for $15.99) Antifreeze coolant change (10 qt for $14) I bought cheapest oil since this is just testing purpose. I learned that Pepboy mobile coupon is really handy and beat the price from any other auto parts shop. off course, gasoline change. Drain 10 years old gas... It looks like... pee After replace fluid, start working on electric items. Change Battery ($100) Unplug #1 spark plug and turn ignition to see... not sparkling. Remove distributor cap to check the condition. It looks good. I decided to change spark plug-wire(NGK RC-NE61) and MSD Blaster 2 coil. Spark plug on the top of valve cover is flashing Next to check whether fuel is coming or not.
  11. I just got '75 280z. The car was parked on the car port for 10 years under the sun shine of CA weather. When I checked the car, the body is fairly good condition, only small ding on passenger's side door and fender. Rust is on the hatch area, but not cancer rust. Finally the car got towed to my home. The fun began
  12. Thanks all for sharing your experience. Mike, It looks really nice! Love it. Wade, I used to use FM transmitter with my iPod. It was horrible sound. I rather buy like your system... Does anyone install twitter on the door?
  13. I'm wondering what audio receiver & speaker you guys installed on your Z. My Z still has factory original AM/FM receiver and plan to upgrade something that I can connect my iPhone or MP3 player via AUX or Bluetooth. When I quick search, there are several modern receiver unit with old fashion design, but never heard about those manufacture. Car Selector Does anyone install this unit? I don't mind to install more cutting edge receiver, but I have no clue which one is good for cost performance. Can you show your audio system and spec? Thanks, tamo3

Welcome to classic Z car forum. You got nice 280z! As many people recommend, swap with 280zx 5speed. 280zx gear ratio is better than 280z gear ratio on 5th gear. You'll get better millage. Regarding alternator swap, there is several options. Go for 280zx IC alternator is just get lid of external regulator and maybe less issue with IC. However, it's same capacity 60amp. I don't think you can expect better charging capability. Nissan/Datsun Z Car Voltage Regulator Conversion If you go for CS130, CS144, GM Delco-Remy 10Si, 12Si, those generate more, but what I heard it require higher RPM to charge and lower RPM is less charging compare with original alternator. Thus, as many people recommend, I think adding relay for headlight is one of the best solution in your case. Good luck! tamo3
  16. No wonder you have red, blue, and bare metal valence. Once you purchase airdam, you don't need it anymore. The front turn signal can mount direct to the airdam. Good luck! Tamo3
  17. Here is the photo of the xenon airdam mount onto my 240z. You can just drill a holes at the bottom section of the head light case behind the bumper. You don't need welding. It's easy. As you can see, it's about 10 inches long from the bottom of bumper. You can measure your Z's crossmemebr height from the bottom part of your bumper. Good luck! tamo3

Hi EuroDat, Thanks for posting Photo. I can't say Type1 Airdam cover bottom of crossmember or not. However, there are so many people put 240z type1 airdam onto 280z. When I install Xenon Airdam to my 240z, I remove front balences. I will install Type1 240z airdam onto my 280z soon.

after quick research, I don't need balance in order to mount airdam. Is a front valance required for an aftermarket air dam? (78 280z) - Miscellaneous Tech - HybridZ

Hi EuroDat, I'm about to purchase Type1 Airdam for 280z. I really want to see the difference between 240z and 280z. Looking forward to see your picture of valances side by side. Thanks! tamo3

I remember one guy try to install 240z tail light to 280z 2+2. However, the size of tail light surrounding is wider on 2+2 and 240z tail light surrounding did not fit. 240z bumper might not fit to 280z 2+2....
  23. I'm also rebuilding transmission now. Does anyone know where I can purchase those nuts? Thanks, tamo3
  24. I would like to see how you manage wire from Oil pressure switch to the firewall too. Thanks, Tamo3
  25. Thanks for the detail posting. Where are you going to mount relay?
