I agree with Chas. There are too many holes that lost do much strength of the strut tower. Better to patch plate for safety reason too.

  9. Thanks Chas so much for dig down to find information and post photos. I realized that I made big mistake. I thought I was rebuilding 280zx FS5W71B transmission, but it end up 200sx or 720 truck tranny. Syncro difference btw closer ratio and wider ratio FS5W71B - Drivetrain - HybridZ So, I start rebuilding '77 FS5W71B (wide ratio, early 71B) that I pulled out from Junkyard. I realized that I need right hand thread of mainshaft nut for this tranny after searching web. 5 speed Transmission Nut numbers- Gather Car A&Q So, the mainshaft nut part#32354-E9803, I got, is actually left hand thread. I need right hand thread of main shaftnut, which is part #32354-E9802 or 32354-E9804. I just ordered it at local Nissan dealer and will be there this Saturday.
  10. Oh god, the one I got from Nissan Parts from Everything Nissan.com This 32354-E9803 was right hand thread! I also order local Nissan dealer and it came out it's also right hand thread! Does anyone know where I can purchase left hand thread mainshaft nut online? 32354-E9803

  16. Thanks guy for your advice. This is just for temporary purpose until my garage is clean up. I will remove the cover in every 3 days to breath air.

  19. Rain season is over here in CA, but I'm about to have wiper motor upgrade for my '75 280z. Following '75, '77, and '78 FSM and this thread, I drew diagram for wiring.
  20. Thanks guys for your advice. I bought Crafstman deep socket and HFT colorful socket. 10 Piece 3/8" Drive Metric Deep Wall Color Coded Socket Set Since the diameter of HFT and craftsman are same but the price is 1/3, I just use HFT socket. Even though this socket, the space is still tight, but I've successfully remove the last nut with PB Baster penetration! Thanks so much!!! After removing exhaust, I want to remove drive shaft nuts from diff in order to drop transmission. In order to remove the nuts, I need to remove diff mount, rear anti-sway bar. Having hard time to remove diff mount, but using short socket for the upper nuts, I could've take the nuts off. That's the progress for tonight. Thanks, tamo3
  21. Thanks guys for your tips. I really appreciate your input. I could've removed 2 nuts out of 3 without problem. Just one of the nut is is really hard to reach due to the steering lower joint assembly and frame prevent me to use the tool. Especially, my socket barely fit to the location. longer 1/2 socket does not fit, shorter 3/8 socket is too short and prevent wrench to snap in. Here is my regular daily tool. My favorite HFT 1/2 socket and 3/8 socket is same size of diameter. I think I need to look for smaller diameter socket to fit the limited space. By the way, what brand of socket do you use? Craftman? Any recommendation? Thanks, tamo3
  22. Hi, I'm about swapping transmission on my '75 280z. In order to drop current tranny, I need to remove exhaust tube. I try to unbolt the nuts from the exhaust manifold and exhaust tube, I could've removed only one nut, but other two nuts are hard to reach with 1/2 ratchet wrench with extension from bottom of the car. FSM does not have any good explanation. Does anyone have good tips or tool to remove those nuts? Thanks, tamo3

  25. I think your tranny is F4W71B. The switch could be neutral switch.
