  1. Hi Blue,Montezuma It is Paris! very beautiful. I bring this book to ZCON 2014! Kats
  2. Hi Carl, Thanks for joyining, Mr.Uemura said there were 3 types of transmission going to be fitted, FS5C71A, F4W71A, and BW35(BorgWaner made). Development team thought Automatic transmission was must item for the users in the US. He said BW35 was an only choice for the automatic transmission at that time, it was a very big so the tunnel was enlarged. However it was not installed ,Nissan chose much more compact JATCO 3N71A and waited until it became ready for install on an assembly line. Mr.Uemura said in the book 'this car does not need such a big tunnel...' JATCO was an originaly Nissan's Yoshiwara factory. So the answer is A , but Mr.Uemura said 'We very much expected and prepared for an order of installation Y40 (President V8 4000cc) from the US maket ,but no order' He said if it became real it could be a good easy-drive car with big torqe despite less efficient procedure on an assembly line.L20/24 were installed from the underneath , but Y40 needed to be installed from the top due to its width of engine. Mr.Uemura said 'BW35 was used for President and Cedric ' So my guess is the team would think and prepared 'for the S30 ,BW35 for Y40 engine'. No test cars of this Y40, too bad. Answer C could also be correct I think. Kats
  3. Hi Blue, Its beautiful but looks so painful to a car and driver. Kats
  4. Alan, I am very interested in the early Europe test too,we keep our passion to finding the more details and stories, my next plan is having an interview with Mr.Takei as a chief crew of the Europe 240Z development team. Alan, posting crips from the DVD is very helpful, everyone can see the interesting details. Here is a question for all of you, What is a true reason for the size and shape of the floor tunnel ? A: To install a BorgWaner auto transmission. B: To maximize ability of installation on a production assembly line C: To install a Nissan President V8 engine What is your answer? Kats
  5. Hi xs10shl, That is what I want to say. This book is must be spread all over the world. I am for sure the book is deserved it . And xs10shl, can I see you on Sunday 9th or 10th ? I will send PM soon . Kats
  6. Mike, What a rare thing you have got! Complete set of a NOS FM pack, I want to have a leather case for Clarion but no luck so far. I will make it by myself to protect this rare device. Kats
  7. Hi Alan! Yes of cource I remember you let me see the picture of the LHD S20 car, that car is proved of its existance by this book! About Belgium road,Mr.Uemura told it was a simulated road in Oppama factory. The factory lmported blicks from Belgium where the road replaced to modern then blicks were not needed. The test road was extreamly tough for test cars, body and axle & suspention. Like 510 ,Cedric, they set a target 4000Km running test, but for S30 was 2000Km because the car was not considered as a TAXI. Kats
  8. Hi Carl, I think the book is a Japanese magazine issued early 1970,I will check it when I am home . Mr.Uemura told 'We also had 19 moch-ups, to follow up those tests of 11 complete test cars' They were 12 crash test 2 seatbelt & mounting stress test 2 body stress & vibration test 2 engine room moch-up 1 wiper test cut body Is this model available in the US? ?????????????????????Z? | ?????? Eaglemoss Ltd I will pay aprox.150000 JPY when I complete !!And will take 2 years to finish. The most valuable thing of this model and you will be pleased is, a DVD of an old film making Fairlady-Z. I am not happy with the model ,I expected much more high quality in this price range. However I have the DVD!! This is awsome. It is not co-oparation of Mr.Uemura & Eagle Moss, but after reading the book I noticed there are lots of test cars discribed in the book are seen in this DVD. Running test cars have different C piller, different tail lights, different interior trim & color e.t.c. So the design team were still working hard at that time. Kats
  9. Thanks for the interests, To begin with, see this menue for the prototypes. I did not know 4 cylinder L16A was considered and tested for the Z! I thought 4 cylinder idea was only for exterior design sturdy. Also S20 for LHD! L engine with Solex was L20A 160hp,not L24A. Very interesting! Kats
  10. Hi, In Japan,a very interesting book was issued for all the S30 fans recently. Mr.Uemura was an engineer of Nissan ,he did great job especially chassis and compornets layout , not only that, he also was a chief of the test crew of 240Z in the US and Canada Oct -Dec 1969. So many new fucts we see in the book!! I have to tell you soon. Kats
  11. Hi Mike, how are you doing? Hearing from you is always exciting to me. I did not know that the difference between the FM packs, what a interesting find! I thought HITACHI has wide band ,Clarion has narrow band. But NO, both manufactures have wide and narrow.I have collected pictures in my lap top,and looked them carefully and yes, they have both.See attached pictures. Mike,is your FM pack HITACHI or Clarion? I think lots of FM stations already exsisted in the US than that era of Japan. And I wish I could see your super early blue 240Z, but I am excited about seeing you there. Please bring your FM pack. I also did not want to ship my Z432 by boat, because 2 weeks trip on the Pacific ocean make the car rusty. I have sent twice my blue 240Z to the US before(2000 and 2004), lots of bolts and nuts turned white. They were shining gold before the trip. But I took cheapest way to ship my car,I hope the car does not get rust so much... Kats
  12. Thank you 26th-Z and Z fan,I realized people in the US had good time with 8 track too. I bought two nice cassette tapes from the auction,I will bring them and play them infront of the audience. Dan, thanks for the information. That tire is good looking,I see your Gold Medallion 240Z has the tire, fantastic looking!! kats
  13. Hi, I finally obtain this "FM pack" factory option for S30 in Japan just a few days ago. An 8 track player is HITACHI, but a Fairlady-Z owner's manual showing this Clarion FM pack. On the other hand, DATSUN 240Z S30 RHD parts catalog listed another manufacture FM pack, that is a HITACHI made. The picture in the catalog is very accurate, I was not for sure it is existing or not, but some years ago I saw it on ebay. So, Clarion FM pack is for my Z432, HITACHI FM pack is for Export model , it is my understanding. But viceversa will be there of cource. I will bring and show you my FM pack works very well at ZCON 2014,I will be able to make everyone has smile on his/her face. BTW, can the FM pack catch the wave in the US where it has never been trying to receive it in it's whole life? I hope it can do that,, will be no problem. Kats
  14. Thank you Montezuma,I 'll check it. Kats
  15. I replaced an air cleaner filter yesterday. And made carpet fasteners for restored rear deck. Original fastener is the one botom, made of felt and sewed edges and center crossed. I made reprica with 5mm thick rubber and double sided tape and fastener. Kats
  16. Hi xs10shl, Thank you , but picture is always looked better than the actual car, please do not look closely of my car. I am so looking forward to seeing you too, are you going to be there with your Z432? I am really interested in hearing about Z432s in the US. Kats
  17. Hi Fred,I would like to see your Fairlady-Z , the car is so rare in the world, I have never seen a 1969 Fairlady-Z in person. Tire is getting harder and harder to obtain original size, 175 SR 14 is NLA in Japan, only choice is 175 -80/14 but this is just little bit smaller diameter than SR 14. However it is not too bad. Kats
  18. This is the magazine from 1971 but the yellow Z432 must be from 1969-1970 early.
  19. Hi, sorry I have not updated more than a year, now I am back. Here is the latest S20 engine sound of my car, I have been trying to find the best condition of the Mikuni Solex carbs, here is the best what I can do so far. Kats PS : the valve cover was dirty, after this shot I have the cover painted to its original color shown in the top cover of the old magazine.
  20. Chris, my Z432 is not that good, if I would enter, that would be daily driver class. I drive my Z432 more than once a week even in the rain. Yes almost the parts are stock Z432 but they are not clean , I wish I could tell you every details one by one. I am thinking of replacing front windshield to the Nissan stamped NOS before shipping. Also door wether strips are later type . I need to hurry up if I change the ones too. Kats
  21. That will be so fantastic moment for me displaying with those dream cars. I have something to ask , let you know later, thanks. Chris! I wished I could see you there, too bad. About the replica yellow car, I was at the Las Vegas convention with my blue 240Z and the yellow car was also brought from Japan in June 2000.The yellow car was built by an journalist of the magazine and many people helped at the shop "Ultimate" where my blue 240Z was built too.My car was built by the owner Tetsu. Both cars were there almost at same time and so busy to be built not to miss the Nissan cargo ship to LA departed in Apr. Kats
  22. Hi Montezuma, I have hard of big wild fire in Sandiego, hope everyone is OK and it will not affect ZCON 2014. I am now preparing bringing my Z432, needs lots of paper work done, I wish everything goes fine. I met Matsuo -San last holidy at Fuji speedway , we talked about Sandiego and we are both excited to seeing Zcar fans in the US. Fingers crossed, Kats

    vintage photo

Great photo!!Where did you get this from?
  24. Hi Fred, You can use L24 clutch and flywheel and clutch plate , also for the FS5C71A, you can use F4W71A rubber dust cover for the operating cylinder and other gaskets as well. And yes,Nissan HQ is now in Yokohama Japan. Hope you will drive your Z when it's getting warm. Kats
