  1. Hi Mike, Good point, I have to check again. The reason why I told S30S with a tinted glass is, I cant see clear glass for S30S in the parts catalog nor service bulletin. The green 240Z(HS30S) has a tinted glass, this is the only one I have ever saw "basic model S30". And this car is 1972, I have never seen early one like 1969/1970. They(publishing) are not always collect as we know, the true answer would be seen in actual cars which we received.Early ones would have clear glass, and this green car could have tinted as an option. If Alan is collect, then we can understand why Mike's NOS glass has "S30S" on the label. It makes sence very much. kats
  2. Thank you everyone, thank you:) I am thinking same thing, we want L-series models. For me, completely stock L24 with air cleaner would be the best.I am asking that to IWAYA president. This model is 1/10 scale, there was a 1/12 scale model of S20 released from another manufacture in some I do not know 10 or some years ago. That 1/12 model is now on Yahoo Japan auction(the starting price is crazy),http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d111129680 That model does not have sound operation.IWAYA cop. is very good at sound operation system and featuring it in toy. kats

    Is this a new find?

Thank you DMC-Z, It is very interesting,so far we seem to know driver's seat has stiching while passenger's seat does not. More inputs welcome. kats
  4. Hi, Let me introduce a fine model of S20 engine produced by IWAYA cop. This has two version , one is Skyline GTR and the other is Fairlady-Z432. This has sound operative, you can listen S20 engine sound. (Maybe already you know, the sound for both version was recorded from my Z432:) They are on sale soon in Japan. The pricing is little bit expensive I think . The picture is for Skyline GTR. kats
  5. Hi Mike, I did not know that you got the NOS windshield! I do not have any idea "FH" means. And I am wondering , why this sticker says "S-30S" , S30S is the basic model "Fairlady-Z" , even though this model, all Japanese models except Z432-R have tinted glass from the factory . If this clear glass for Z432-R, it should be"PS30SB" Attached picture is a part number label, both for my DATSUN 240Z when the car was in restoration.I have got the NOS glasses from the Yahoo auction. 90301-E4101 is for the rear, tinted and heated. This one is exactly correct for the original, as I see the marking (NISSAN ASAHI DOT...)on the edge of left bottom corner. 72631-E4100 is for the front, tinted glass. But this glass does not have original marking,NISSAN and ASAHI is on it but other number is different from the old original one.I think this was made later for the replacement part. But not so later because the part number label is old style. kats
  6. Hi Carl, Thank you for "recap" , that is very useful. kats

Hi, I am not for sure we have discussed already or not , about a tail gate support. My Z432 has this support, but my U.S spec 240Z has different style. Are they correct for each build date or domestic/export ? I have no idea about this, please tell me anything you know. kats
  8. I have some too, I was surprised the under floor pan was not damaged very much than I expected.Looks like nothing has changed from our 240Z except the exhaust system!! And some from Japanese car magazine, note before the rally, the additional lamps on the bonnet have a clear cover. Left rear fender, the SEIKO sticker.above the SEIKO, there is no KS (Kanto seiki: for the steering lock & key /Tach and Speedo e.t.c. ) sticker.I think this KS sticker was added after the car shipped back to Japan.Nissan displayed this car at the Tokyo motor show 1971, so Kanto Seiki wanted to be advertized at the show. Also support cars, the far left is 240Z , this might be as a donor for the race cars. kats
  9. Thank you Carl , Enrique I have learned new thing, they came with a screw, that is great. However the square style knobs which came from Nissan part dept.several years ago, they did not come with screws. I have a 6 feet long R/C , The F-16 (with Jet,made by BVM Florida) is still in progress, yes they use lots of tiny screws. kats
  10. Hi, Today I found a small thing, the NOS knobs (choke and throttle) have taping at the end, I thought it just for showing "this is an auto part from Nissan". But,looked carefully, I found a small thing. The screw is hiding in the hole. The taping is preventing the screw from dropping off:bulb: I do not think the screw has a part number. Is it hard to find screw? Is it easy to find same screw at the local store? kats

Thank you Mike and cygnusx1, repair job, I like it! kats
  12. :)Mike, good question, All S30 in Japan, even S30S basic model have tinted glass for all over the car except Z432-R. The part number is 72631-E4100 for the front. Z432-R, only a front wind shield is clear glass, others are plexiglass(they are clear of cource). Did you know Z432-R's front wind shiled part number is 72631-E4600 This means Z432-R borrowed it from export model, does not it? So, Mike your clear glasses are very special and rare nowadays. kats
  13. Thank you Carl, the pace car is cool:) Nice photo! Here are some pictures of "1972 Fairlady-240Z" , HS30S (L24 engined, STD:basic model) We do not see many this HS30S or S30S in Japan, these basic model is rarer than Z432 I think. No defroster on the back glass (but this car has a tinted glass, not like a 1969 240Z with clear non defog) no carpets but rubber mats, no rubber guards for the bumper, I missed to check about the inside mirror which has day/night mode or not, according to the service bulletin, all S30 in Japan except Z432-R have a day/night mirror. Please see the radio and fuse cover, the radio does not have an auto antenna,it is a manual extention one. No switch for delux, no auto signal seeking. A blank plate for the defroster:) The far right should also be a blank plate but this one has a poor rubber piece on it. kats

Thank you Zedyone kenobi and Glenn, I am waiting reports on this one.I tend to think the drivers seat bottom had a repair long time ago maybe, I do not know. Glenn, did you got my e-mail about the wiper? Here or Yahoo jp mail adress are both wellcome you. kats
  15. Hello, I happened to touch this,my Z432's driver's seat(Right seat) bottom has a stitch in the middle of the front face. But there is no such a thing for the passenger's seat (Left seat) bottom. My seats are original as I have been recognizing so far.But I am not for sure right now.Which one is correct for the early S30? The texture is truely original, seat back and bottom. They have a little scratch but they are very good condition from Jan 1970.I am very happy with my seats. The seat bottom had fixed in some time? How about yours? kats
  16. Thank you Carl about the figures. Hello xs10shl, How are you doing? Have you been enjoyining your Z432 and GTRs ? About jet settings, my Z432 had tried lots of variations. But , the factory setting is the best for me,it is good for street. These are factory installed jets, Air #180 Main #135 Pilot #52.5 NGK B7ES I put like this, Air #210 Main #145 Pilot # 60 NGK B8ES This was too rich,I think. kats PS: Now Z432 got the oil cooler.
  17. Hello NismoZ, I was thinking same way like you, to install S20 into the U.S. HLS30. But as I deeply researched about S20 and Z432, I reached the answer which I should quit my idea, I finally found the best way is to buy a Z432. As Alan already said, Z432 is perfect for the package. No need to modify to have fun.Good gear ratio of 5 speed and a good final gear with LSD, and good suspension and, S20 engine. If you put only a S20 into the U.S. HLS30, you will be disappointment about the S20. Or if you put a L24 with Webber or Solex into the Z432, I think you will be happy.Or maybe you will need to arrange a final gear slightly. kats
  18. Hello Koalia, Thank you for the link,I see the car it seems to me tipical 1972 Euro spec car. The fog lights, and the wheels, I have never seen them before. My fog lights were listed on the Japanese brochure, the fog in the picture was listed in the Euro brochure? kats
  19. Thank you Gary, I am sorry I missed it. kats
  20. Hi, I found this You Tube, this is not a S30 but 180SX(240SX for export model). This will make you imagine how the body serial numbers were stamped/engraved for S30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po4i0HHrAWA&feature=related This Nissan Shatai HIRATSUKA factory made S30.I have been there 5 years ago as a factory tour. From 1:18" to 1:30" , you can see how they are doing about body serial number, "Shatai Bango Dakoku Basho" I can see they are listing names of operators with their assignment on the plaque, From right to left, "Dakoku Sagyou Sekinin Sya" ,an In charge of Stamping/Engraving, "Dakoku Sagyou Sya" ,worker of Stamping/Engraving, "A Sei " , Regular worker of Groupe A "(A) Fuku" ,Vice(assistant) worker of Groupe A "B Sei " same as A "( Fuku " same as A But it is hard to see their names. kats
  21. I think we can use a red car in this brochure as a good reference for its originality. Also some Z books contains pictures from early days consumer reports and test drive reports, they looks same fuel hoses like the red car. For me,the green car have a unique fuel hoses. My 240Z has rubber hoses made by "YOKOHAMA GOMU(rubber)" now, it has gloss rubber surface. But seems to me, the red car has different type surface. It's surfece looks like a hose for air pump. What do you think? kats
  22. Hi Mike, This picture is the same one what Alan is saying, E4100. In the first thread, that mirror seems a common one for Z432-R owners in Japan, some of Z432-R owners tried to get the non-day/night mirror from Local Nissan in several years ago, but they all ended up with the mirror which is the same one in the pictures which has completely different shape. kats
  23. Thank you Carl. Jon, I am also excited about seeing 9Y code. As Mike told us, I was thinking same way. They would have made enough blocks before entering Nov and Dec. Do you all remember production figures in 1969 for S30? [May D 1, E 1] [ Jun D 1, E 0] [Jul D 2, E 2] [Aug D 6, E 1] [sep D 9, E 2] [Oct D 48, E 52] [Nov D 214, E 388] [Dec D 688, E 97] D is domestic,E is export model I have been kept wondering Long time since we got this infomation from Nissan Shatai, why in Dec 1969, they suddenly slow down making S30 for export? In this case, that is 240Z (Left hand and Right hand) while domestic S30 was increasing its figure good, what happened for 240Z? I have heard some Nissan people like Mr.K, Mr.Matsuo, Mr.Uemura e.t.c. they all told me 240Z had to stay in Japan(I guess factory or port) in late 1969 because of some problems had to be solved. They were not pointed me out ploblems exactly, but from the test report in Oct to Dec 1969 in North America, the crew reported vibration and road noise, and steering kick back were main ploblem at that time. I still do not know, How many 240s had to stay?Where were they staying? What kind of work (replacement parts) had 240Zs received especially the cars Oct - Dec which already rolled out ? When Nissan released those export 240Z ? And, about the block,I guess there were only few Dec 1969 casting block made because of these "HOLD 240Z" at Japan. Even they would have stopped making in Nov when Nissan judged the Holding,it could be happend Nissan would have enough blocks for the rest of cars running in the assembling line. kats
  24. Hi Bonzi Lon, Thank you for the link of the thread, that is wonderful.I now want to ask Nissan Shatai which the answer is "engraving or stamping" for the body serial number. How about for the engine serial number? Thank you Car, you pointed out the Font, yes they are different. Not in the Yokohama factory, it would have happened in the dealer,I see. In that case, vice versa could happen, i.e. a 1969 car could have a later block with P30 or what ever with engine serial number L24-002### with different Font. And in that case, how about fitting with a head, are they (E31 head with P30 block or E88 head with E31 block) docking each other without any problem? I have heard my friend saw a Z432 it has an engine without engine serial number. The owner told my friend not for sure but maybe the engine was replaced some time ago. kats
