Hi Mike, Very nice, envy you!!Unbelievable NOS front windscreen. kats

Hi, Thank you for refering my cars, my 240Z has painted panels, they are not OEM nor NOS one.yes they are lighter than the original. My Z432 has the NOS OEM panels, they are correct dark grey. Please see the pictures:)When the car was in the restoration, I had to make a choice of the panel from a few NOS and USED ones that they were available at the shop. kats

Hi Chris!! The Z national convention, I wish I can go with my Z432 there,it could be a great great memory. Mr.K become 100 years old this year! But I do not have money and time to bring my Z...Or some one in San Antonio willing to buy my Z432, I will ship it there:stupid: Yes I am still thinking about fly there with my family like 3 years ago! kats
-
Hi Dan, Thank you for that, my exhaust system is just a cheap work, I did it by myself just a can spray(heat prove/hight temp paint), so I painted 3 times in 8 years. My Z432 exhaust system also got rusty on the tail tube, last week I painted with a spray can. As long as I drive my Zs regularly,I need to paint time to time.To tell the trues, both my Zs are dirty! My web's pictures can not tell the trues;)They are the past, not recently. kats

Yes,right. Mike:) Thanks geezer, yes I had a experience some of members here kindly helped me about shipping. Last time I flew to L.A., I have got a console from a member here, and another member here shipped a original Bridgestone tire to my hotel at Ledondo. I was carring both console and tire with my two flight bags at LAX, they were too much but I was very very happy:love: Today I am in Frankfurt,Germany. Nice place, I love to see Porche. I would like to go to the Porche musium. kats

Mike, yeah,I saw the new found patched area, what is it for? In Japan, 1969 Z432 is still around, at least 5 Z432s I can see personaly. But 1969 Z and Z-L, I do not think they are many exist.I could say no 1969 Z and Z-L exist nowadays. So, if Mike did not post 1969 -E4100 tank,I would never seen the 1969 tank for Z and Z-L. Thanks. And please see this, the slide film(same as a service manual) show the tank has a different position of send/return pipes. This is uniqe. kats
-
And to win a carshow, do not forget set up all the pipe cramps position to be "correct" , Chris posted service manual picture is a good reference. kats

Hi, I really wanted to bid on this one, because I saw the picture and thought this is very good original for 240Z.But you can see the front tube,it has a little bid different curve, due to avoid a pan of an automatic transmission. This one was local pick up only!!I cried:cry: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160315829987&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem= kats

You just posted! Chris,Arne To all the folks who are looking at this thread, Please find out it is cast or press and welded, when I get the answer I will amend my website:) And just want to remind you the E4100 tail pipe is longer than -N3XXX kats
-
Hi, Thaks for looking at my web's picture, I did say "cast" (casting?) but I did not know it is true or not.Could be metal press. Could you see this picture, the junction is seen and looks what we are talking about.Even the shape looks slightly different from my 240Z's, but I may be not correct. If we go to the service manual, we can see more clearly pictures of the junction. kats

Hi Mike, I did not think about it, you gave me an interesting point of view. You did not mean my Z432 tank was modified by some one after left from factory , right? You mean in the factory assembly line of the fuel tank, they cut E4100 and patched one pipe version for E4200, right? My tank is relatively Early, not for sure the date.Unfortunately a date stamp is now covered by black paint when it was restored 2 years ago.I will scratch new paint tenderly,I hope the stamp is still there. I guess my tank could have 12/69 stamp on it.I guess in the assembly line, they did not know other method of making a Z432 tank in early days. But they could have a new pre-assembled Z432 non-return pipe tank later. I want to see later Z432 tank like 1971 to 1973.These tank might not have a patched area.I guess. And Mike, did you notice metal press-pattern under the spare tire is different between these two tanks. kats
-
Hi Mike, Did I tell you a Z432 tank has not a return pipe? Here is my -E4200/Z432 tank, see no return pipe. kats
-
Nice Tank Mike, The date stamp is also great find,Oct 30th,1969.Is this car have a 11/69 tag on the body frame? The tank is E4100, I now learn 1969 240Z has a same tank like Fairlady-Z, Z-L. And no fuel vapor tank, great! kats

Hi, I recently have got a choke and throttle mechanism here in Japan. And I found something unusual of its cable area. (anyway this mechanism is for a Z432, as you can see the picture it has only one cable for the choke) Can you see the wire for the choke? It is not solid cable like we usually see. And there is a very long steel tube for the wire,it seems to me the tube is helping movement of the wire , not to be bend around a basement. I remember there is a technical bulletin for the changing of the wire for choke mechanism, a former wire was superseded by a solid cable. Solid cable for the choke, this does not have a steel tube, does it? So I think this mechanism is the earliest one.How about LOW VIN cars? Chris or Mike B can confirm their mechanism which has wire or solid cable for the choke. Also I found a interesting thing, the basement of the mechanism is reversible, for S20 engine and L20/L24 engines. This Z432's mechanism has a place for L20/L24: two choke cables on the back.It can be used for L20/L24 when it is reversed front and back. To look carefully into your mechanism(for L20/L24), there is a place for S20 one choke cable on the back. kats PS. Please refer post#88, especially the top left two pictures. They have an earliest throttle control mechanism with different apperance of the lever, but the choke cable is solid type, without steel tube.

Hi, I have been talking about Z432 a lot, now it is DATSUN 240Z's turn. I am selling a few parts , Solid Chrome Z emblems/ metal hood and rear emblems/ parking light switch. They are listed in classifieds section, this is for the first time for me to selling other than Japan. About a parking light switch, I have been asked some members here, but old messages were deleted, I am sorry I can not remember who were asking me. kats

Hi , I love this kind of topic.Chris, I have no problem with the repro fuel door knob on my car, please refer my web site,my Z432 is equipped this knob as a demonstration. About OEM parts, I think we agree if you put totally correct and new and clean and provided from NISSAN as OEM parts, that is the best. But I can not put all the parts like this, so I love to put repro parts if it is so good. Some parts are very difficult to distinguish, ZCCA does not ask to show a receipt of each parts buying. On the other hand ,if you put OEM parts on your car but lost receipts, you can not prove your statement unless the judges say "yes this is an original". At this point, you can put whatever you think it is perfect looking from any angle of view. Let's let the judges judge. The judges must have eyes to distinguish what is the original without asking and touching. If the judges judge this is correct, that is correct even if it is repro. In this case, repro maker beats judges!! Or we can say repro parts become real OEM parts can not we? These what I am saying is only applicable for talking about "car show", repro is repro, never been OEM. If you are 100% purist, you can not accept repro parts. The judges must train themselves harder and harder, and we respect the judges more and more. kats

Hi, Can you buy "CAR MAGAZINE" at your local book store? #370 April 2009 is now on sale in Japan. My Z432 is featured in the book, please take a look at it. And this publishing office hosts car festival 22nd March,at Fuji speedway and my Z432 will be on track driven by Mr. Haruhito Yanagida who raced S30 back in 1970's. kats PS : attached racing S30 was not Mr.Yanagida.Courtesy Auto sport Archives #026.

Hi Filipe, Thank you for sharing your story of your beautiful Portugal 240Z.I do not think I can meet all the previous owners here in Japan, but you did that great. I noticed the rally car has rally wheels montecarlo style bumper, "the mirror" seen in many Nissan racing S30 car. kats

Hi Carl, Yes that is the matter, and I asked that Mr.Tamura, he did not know why the stamping area is off set to the left. But he remember the area was much much bigger when it was under progress. And the area was seen overshoot from the rear bumper. He did final finishing touch of the panel, but a panel press team was responsible to solve the shrinkage problem. Mr.Tamura said the reason of off set must be the result of many tests made by the team. They tried so many times, he said. Alan,I want you to see this thread, I would like to introduce you to Mr.Tamura, you must see him. Many many things will be unvailed to the world , not from my english skill but you can do that Alan. kats

Hi Mike, Very nice paint job and restored tail lights,I agree not buying todays ones but refresh original 1969 lights, keep them forever! I envy your blue 903.I wish I had same blue on my 240Z some day. About a punched area of the rear panel, I have just come across the answer last week when I met a special person . That area is for the solution of avoiding bad shrink when the metal is pressed on the machine. I met Mr.Tamura , he was a finalist of the S30 styling (I should start a new thread of him) in 1967 to 1969.He told me many many things about finishing touch of the S30, his boss was Mr.Matsuo of course, once you hear his story, you will realize he did really hard work and his hands created beautiful body panel shape/lines/edges/fins/curves e.t.c. , and you will find you can not have this beautiful S30 without his hands. kats

And I am 7th owner of this car, when I got this car, the ODO was 28,260 KM. There is no paper to prove this ODO, but looking at general condition of its interior, I think this ODO is correct for this car in almost 40 years. Both seats are original and very neet, crack-free dash as well !! Originally came with head lamp covers, without fog lights and a rear spoiler. I want to see the inside and engine of this car when in 1970's. kats
