  1. Hi Alan, I was surprised,Z432R is shown in yours. But in my catalog, it does not show the Z432R data. I did not know there is a catalog like Alan has.Which is the earliest between yours and mine? Maybe mine is a little earlier because yours has mentioned about automatic trans. I said "Z432R is not listed in the brochure" ,I know if I say like this,I am not right.Yes, it is listed. But always only very small description, a very few shots. No specific data is listed in the catalog/manuals. At that time this was in my mind " we can see the Z432R in the brochure, but we can not see the data of its car because the data is not listed" Even the service bulletin says "So Racing and Rally version PS30SB(Z432R) is a special car that this bulletin does not mention at all" We always frustrated we can see very little description like this, " Z432R for motor sport and racing, can be tuned highly" But yours listed Z432R's picture.Great Alan!! kats PS/ The original owner of this catalog might buy Fairlady Z(basic model) ,he circled the left red Z.You see the writing 97.6 is a retail price at Tokyo 976,000 JPY.
  2. Thank you Will:) Have you ever seen these Japanese brochures/manuals ?These are all 1969 issued literatures except bottom right,a white parts catalog(1972) Upper Left:Service manual / center:Service bulletin / right: giveaway at 1969 Tokyo motor show Lower Left:folded catalog poster size / center: main brochure / right : owers manual / parts catalog And Z432's magnesium wheel needs special nut(not special??)40224-E4200. Is this same shape of the one which is used for common slotted wheel? kats
  3. Hello, Will, let me check later, the car and switch located very far from me. 240znz,I think Z432's is different from any other model, but HS30 and S30 are the same. You can see the attached picture of throttle linkage,Z432 has different from other model. bpilati,do you have a stop watch like mine? With an Oscilater? Today I show the Z432 duct wich has just reproduced. The original is made of soft plastic but repro is molded by FRP. Probably no one out side of Japan will be interested in this, but if some one want to see.. And talking about a battery,it is smaller than the one you have(HLS30/HS30) . You see the battery cap with a different frame. kats
  4. Hi everyone, Tony D and Carl correct, the fuse is "electrical fuel pump" the holder is OEM and looks nice does not it? Carl, the steering wheel is 35mm diameter.COMPE means COMPETITION,you right. Joseph,I will ask Mr.Nishi for any plan making reproduction of cloth-braided hoses.I too think some demand in the world making good profit for the shops. In Japan now really cold and not much driving and nothing new to post. Just enjoy before and after of Z432's dash restoration. kats
  5. Nice car:love:, I agree with Chris.Lots of parts useable and they are so rare. If the car has a spare tyre,I want to see it. I want to bid but I can not.It is sitting just too far from me:ermm: kats
  6. Thank you Tony D, There are LHD 240Zs sold in Okinawa, just great:love: I must see Mr.Oshiro Georgi, and Mr.Tomoyose Kuraido. They will tell me much more about the story of 60's to 70's. kats P.S. Attached pictures are Comparison of a lever angle. And what do you think of this fuse for ? This is only for Z432. And Z432's spare tyre holder, this part can be seen and is illustrated in the parts catalog.
  7. Hi, In Japan we love DATSUN COMPE steering wheel. You can see this in the safari / montecarlo rally cars. The real rally car's wheels are not exactly the same from the one which I have.Mine is a reproduction one from NISMO. This NISMO one, every one loves this and want to have in their cockpit. You can see many this wheels are selling in Yahoo Japan auction. In 1994 NISMO's 10 years old celebrating they released 500 units first, but too many people wanted , NISMO decided add 500 units more immediately. You all know the steering wheel has variation between export(LHD/RHD) and Japanese RHD.The attached picture, comparing these, the left is export and the right is Japanese. You can see the difference of depth of corn. This results difference of turn signal lever "angle".We can not apply Japanese wheel to export model otherwise your fingers are always stuck on the wheel. DATSUN COMPE (I do not know real rally car's) just same as Japanese wheel. If export RHD 240Z wants DATSUN COMPE, you can replace turn signal lever to a Japanese one. But for LHD 240Z,I do not think there is another lever produced from the factory. To prevent finger stucking, you need to BEND the turn signal lever away from the steering wheel. DATSUN COMPE,the black grip is not real leather. It is made of something like rubber(urethan). kats P.S. We in Japan cloth-braided bidding WAR has just ended.Mr.Nishi produced reproduction of hoses.Unfortunately, only for Z432 and Skyline. I will take off my Z432's real OEM radiator hoses to replace these reproduction, perfect!!
  8. Like Tony D's Fairlady-Z (standard model),is the lightest Z for the ordinary customer.(racing model Z432-R is the lightest, but it is not listed in the brouchure) I heard some people made a choice buying -Z standard intentionaly, because the car is lighter than Z432(975 kilograms VS 1040 kilograms) and its 4 speed with final gear ratio 3.700 is very good for a start dash. L20 has got only 130hp, but it could go faster than S20's 160hp sometimes. And cheaper!!Just a half price of Z432:p But in 1975,situations were not the same as early 1970,I think. Hi Chris and Joseph, Yes the red 240Z is a vintage Z program car!!Chris,is it O.K. to use your original tyre's picture in my website for "wanted" original one? kats
  9. Thank you Tony D, I have read your story and appreciate that you share with us.Let me explain about OKINAWA prefecture a little bit who has no idea where it is.(maybe I don't need to..) Okinawa is in the Pacific ocean ,south west of Japan, a large group of islands. Always summer and beautiful oceans/beaches/coral. Returned in 1972 from the U.S. , so Nissan/Toyota etc. had sent their LHD models in Okinawa until traffic flow had changed to RHD.But not so many cars were sent their especially before 70's, Japanese car company did not have a lot of dealers in Okinawa.People did not have to buy Japanese cars,American cars were natural for them. Tony D,did you buy 1975 Fairlady- Z as new? I am very curious:classic: I saw some people got Japanese Z, some of them served in Japan main land like Yokosuka base,Misawa base,Iwakuni base.I can see they got RHD model because they were in main land, but how about in Okinawa? When S30 model was released to the public in 1969, Okinawa was only prefecture in Japan where was under the control of the U.S. My question is, was there any LHD 240Z sold in Okinawa? If it is true, how wonderful!Until 1972,was LHD 240Z really sold in Okinawa? Oh yes,I tried once some years ago. I flew to Okinawa and visited Okinawa NISSAN in Naha city. I met a manager and asked about possibility of selling LHD 240Z in Okinawa, but he said he did not know.Seemed anyone in the dealer could not find the facts because it is too old story. I should go out of dealers, ask people who aged 60-70 years old. Thank you, kats
  10. Hi, I revised my website a little.Lots of pictures when my 240Z was restored. I need to put more, just a half of its way now. http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/story.html Thank you, kats
  11. I want to show these two caps, the left is currently purchased from nissan and the right is purchased some years ago. The left is silver and thin metal. The right is plated and thicker metal than the left. According to the brouchure of U.S. 240Z,a radiator cap looks plated like gold, the right one might be the same? kats P.S.Here is a link of a epair example of the Z432's radiator,it is made of aluminum ,that is OEM. How ever you will notice the silver radiator cap and the different tubing below the cap, which are not correct as a stock. http://www.ne.jp/asahi/dockman/racing/Only_for_the_Nissan_L_type_engine/Handling_goods_list/432Radiator/index.htm
  12. Hi Alan,Stephen Thank you ,both you made my points clear.Your correction is what I wanted to say. PS30-00087 is good, but not my taste. And there is a #902 gold Z432,(I do not know the serial number)this car is 8000,000JPY now, this car is not good condition. This is a bad example. kats
  13. Hello, let me join this thread,I would like to show my collection. I have two of the 1970 press kit, both said "FOR RELEASE PM'S WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22,1969" but they are not exactly the same. #1 Left one has two picures and three description papers for 240Z right one has only one picture and one description paper which is excerpt from the Road and Track Jan 1970,actually the paper has a date on top said "for immediate release Jan 19, 1970" #2 a picture from the left one,I think this car is the same which Chris posted, the RED 240Z.This car might be used many other adds and catalogs. #3 a picture from the left one, back side view of the 240Z #4 papers from the left one #5 a picture and a paper from the right one. This picture,a young man and a young lady, are not the same from the first 240Z catalog in the U.S.But the car looks the same of the Road and Track magazine's. kats
  14. I am getting better, thank you Will, and Chris. The pictures of the manual, #1 The left is 20th Dec 1969,the right is 15th Jan 1970 #2 page 13 from the 1969 manual, description of the hand throttle #3 page 13 from the 1970 manual, just a picture of a 240Z #4 but close up view of that page, you can see the paper sheet is attached over the original throttle picture. Will,I really sorry about the Fairlady-Z manual written in English,I am ready to send but I forgot. Please let me know again your e-mail adress which can receive many pictures. Mike,I bought the hood bumpers!! kats
  15. Hello, This is an interesting thread,I would like to introduce this Z432 now for sale in Japan. http://cala.flexnet.co.jp/flexcw/search/detailXG.jsp?wk=+where++%28++tenji_ktn_cd+%3D+%27REVIEW-HQ%27%0A+or++tenji_ktn_cd+%3D+%27FLEXSETAGAYA%27%0A+or++tenji_ktn_cd+%3D+%27KAWAGUCHI%27%0A+%29%0A++order+by+photocase%2C+data_regist_date+desc+%2C+asp_no&sc=XGA&an=23129 This car is verified PS30-00087,just ahead of my Z432.Like Chris' 26th and 27th sisters, these two Z432s are the same color and must be in a sequence in a production line. For sale 8,000,000JPY now ,this car was for sale two years ago at different car shop 6,000,000JPY.Price is rising like this.Be careful, there is a bad example,a not good condition Z432 is now 8,000,000 this car was 4,800,000 last year.I do not think that car deserved 4,800,000 anyway. I think the seller should know right price for right car. This 00087 is unrestored body, still great original painting with remaining lots of early original small parts. What not my taste is many customizing added,AFM air conditioning, front and rear suspension components are upgraded, electric cooling fan for the radiator, and the engine is not 2000.That is modified to 2300cc with different camshafts. And custom middle and rear exhaust systems. But these modifications are strong sales featuring for the people who like these upgrades. kats
  16. Hi, #1 Z432 needs two radiator caps(in early model like 1969 to jan 1970). The left for the reservor tank(you notice push bottun),the rigt for the radiator. This -E4201 is code for the Z432,but I think my 1970 HLS30 240Z has same cap.Is this true? #2 What do you think of this black plastic duct? This is for the cabin air intake next to the right corner of the radiator.Yes,this unique shape is only for the Z432.It has to be this shape because of Z432's air cleaner duct system.Do you know what I mean? #3 This is not nothing new,the jute pads for the early RHD model.Just not interchangeable with the early LHD model. kats
  17. Hello all,and thank you everyone making good inputs here. I have just got out from the hospital today,I have got an acute pneumonia. Two weeks stay in the hospital is not so bad,I am happy I come back. Joseph, the manual is interesting.I believe Vintage Z program reissued 3 manuals including the same manual which you mentioned.Yes I was wondering why describing the hand throttle,/5 speeds/etc.. I will post some unique pictures of my collection,Dec 1969 and Jan 1970 HLS30 manual.Dec 1969 mentioned about hand throttle. But Jan 1970,I can see the same printing as Dec 1969 behind a paper sheet which shows non-hand throttle illustration is attached over the original page. FilipeA,hello and welcome from Portugal !I enjoyed your restoration pictures too:love:Very nice and want to see more.I was surprised and have never knew the magnesium wheels are the same in your country!!I envy you the "D" small cap for the wheel. In Japan,Z432 does not have "D" for the cap.But can only be seen in very very early prototype Z432 has "D" for the magnesium wheel.Do you know in Japan, complete set of the wheel is expensive, like 2000$U.S. today. Thank you, kats
  18. Thank you Mike B, Let me buy 10 pieces:):) You made a Great effort, very nice clips. kats
  19. Hi, First let me go back this thread a few months. Ian,I would like to show this.My boss in the company who loves Z like me owns this 280Z.He also spent a few years in Bakesfield CA as a cheaf instructor of the flight training. He shipped this 280Z to Japan with his returning. In Japan, there are not many enthusiasts of American Z.Very few there but exist.Like me,people of DATSUN 240Z fan is not many.American Z is way cheap in Japan.I am not happy with this... I like this big bumper, and yellow! Thank you Will ,geezer, And I wanted to put as JPG,I need to study computer... NZeder, Thank you Good information,I was wondering this "GARAGE" is only for japan or not. One thing I want to know,is your turn signal SW lever is Strait or Curved? Fairlady Z has different steering wheel which got the horn bottun is same surface as wheel.( I can not exprain well, how do you say?) 3 metal spokes are shorter than exported model,i.e. the wheel is set slightly dash side than expoted model. So,the JDM turn signal lever has to be strait. If it was not, your fingers could be hooked between them. If NZeder, your turnsignal SW lever is strait, there are prenty of space. If it is curved towards wheel,it will be nice to operate.I believe your wheel is exported model like my HLS30. Thank you, kats kats
  20. Thank you JimmyZ, I really appreciate this,I wanted to upload as JPG,but my laptop forces to use Adobe suddenly.I need to work some ... Yes,the wrench which Z432 got is showing NISSAN on the surface. The name is casting.Only two wrench and one puller they all have casting NISSAN name. Bob,super nice wrench set:love:I believe I saw the tool set when you displayed your stock winner 240Z at Long beach, did not I? I want set of wrench like yours. Mike, you are tool fanatic!Thank you for these pictures.I need to look carefuly mine and see what is a point between them. It is fantastic that you have THE jack handle. From the parts catalog,I do not see the part number for the jack handle. But the rubber holder of the jack handle is there, however the number is not - E41. That is -229 I guess this is primalily used for 510. If I could find rubber holder and handle,I want to install them on the rear deck. But I need to drill rear deck to fit the rubber holder. kats
  21. Thank you Chris and Mike, These are nice reports. It is interesting 26th and 27th have rivet type, and 237th has no tab for one side. There could be some reason they were mixed up to supply in the factory. I strongly agree with Mike. We,like early Z owners MUST want to have this plastic clip.Who can reproduce and sell this ?I will buy 10 pieces!!Mortor sport auto can do this ? If this clip go on Ebay,it will be scare to see the winning price. kats
  22. Hi, I would like to ask every one who knows about this rare tools. I have been wondering tools, the Nov 1969 parts catalog illustrated tool of jack handle, that is different which I have one and have been seen so far. Also that parts catalog illustrated rubber holder of jack handle on the rear deck. But I do not think there could be a Z which is installed the rubber parts. And then,I found the picture of these rare tool in the Nov 1969 Fairlady Z owners manual. Please see the picture of the rear deck. You can see the jack handle on it.Please note the spare tire holder, this is not seen on 240Z,my Z432 has this holder. Does anyone have a Z which got this rare jack handle on the rear deck? Thank you, kats toolrench[1].pdf reardeck.pdf tool.pdf
  23. Hello, I did not know my Z432's ignition sw face plate is different from my 240Z. There is "GARAGE" insted of "OFF" on the face plate. I checked my Fairlady Z owner's manual, issued Nov 1969,there is a discription about ignition SW position. It says, "GARAGE" for please use when you do not need to lock the steering. This position allows you operate lighting system and horn." kats cylinder.pdf key.pdf owners.pdf
  24. Hello, Early topics we have not seen here recently, have we? Some of you may know this, differences of the early inspection lid. I think there are 4 steps of the inspection lid(Early which have a plastic clip for retaining). #1 The bigining(maybe prototype) do not have a L-shape tab which is touched by the hood .Just have a rubber. See the picture of the yellow Z.I believe this Z432 is PS30-00013. You will notice there is no hood bumper, also the bracket of the master vac hose is different. #2 The second one has a L-shape tab but it is rivetted. See the picture of the blue Z,this is HLS30-00476 11/1969 #3 The third one looks same which we usualy have seen. But the L-shape tab, this separate piece is welded to the lid. See the picture of the silver Z,this is PS30-00088 01/1970 #4 The fourth one is very common for us,this one piece (L-shape tab and lid together) finish is continued to the later production. See the picture of the blue(clean) this is HLS30-02156 03/1970 Thank you, kats ps3013.pdf lid.pdf z432[1].pdf 240z0370.pdf
