  1. Hello, I have been very very busy last 3 months, but I am coming back in a few days. http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n18788790 I just want to let all of you know this Z is on sale in Japan.I did see this car before, fine condition but I was little bit disapointed the exterior finishing touch and painting is not so great. The rear deck DATSUN badge is the one for 260Z.
  2. Hi 26th-Z, I would love to make a research of the vintage Zs living in Japan. So far I know 4 vintage Z cars are living in Japan. 1. A red 01/70 car (still on sale aprox.$60,000 U.S.!!) I did see this car. 2. A gold 04/70 car (owned by Mr.Ohba) I did see this car. 3. A blue ?/72 car (owned by a car magazine office) 4. A silver ?/70 car (still on sale aprox.$40,000 U.S.!!) I did see this car. When I get photos of these cars, I will post them. And if I get VINs and other informations I also post them. Thank you, kats
  3. Please do not say that TomoHawk Now I need to re-check all the spelling mistakes. kats
  4. Hello, I had a very good time in the national convention last year in L.A.I wanted to enter the stock class as I did same in 2000 Las vegas convention. But there was a mistake, all the 17 Japanese owners were entered in the daily driver class. It was an accident. But I do not know exactly what was going on. For me,it was a disappointment because I prepared a lot for this convention and I think I did good job on my 240Z.But it is O.K.,because I have been taking my 240Z on the road very often since the restoration have completed in 2000.Now my Z's ODO got 19,990miles on it in 5 years.I drove my Z in the rain, snow little bit,I always enjoy the driving. Sometimes I think if I entered in the stock class, could I win in that class? The answer is I do not think I could win. Because my Z is not as clean as the cars are in the stock class.Bob's car and Dan's car are very beautiful and clean. And,my exterior is not an original paint. That blue metallic is for R34-Skyline GTR.This is a big problem in the stock class. (But I feel great,I like the color very much.Someday my Z needs repaint,I of course stick to the blue #903) 26th-Z,do you remember I gave a list to you,it describes what I did and how many periodically correct parts are installed on my car.The reason I made a list is if I did not say it,I was not sure the judges would pay attention to these parts or not.(anyway I was not in the stock class). I know the point deduction system. But I feel something un-clear about what is the most important thing in the stock class? The cleanness? Exactly correct parts? There is no question about the best car is,a car have all clean OEM parts and bolts and nuts like new(of course they are all periodically correct),and even if all the clean OEM parts and bolts and nuts have not been replaced since the car had left from the factory, that is perfect!! My Z has many "not clean parts".I hesitate to remove strut tower trims because they are 35 years old, came from the factory.I love them even they got cracks and are dirty. But we do not see many such perfect cars. What I am trying to say is,to judge which car is more close to the sotck winner, what point is the most important thing? In this point deduction system,it seems to me cleanness comes first, like 26th-Z said. I paid a lot of attention of these periodically correct parts, but they do not make any Advantages in the point deduction system.Even my 240Z's parts can get deduction due to deterioration of surface condition. I think the following parts are the same value in the point deduction system if they both are clean.(I am talking about 03/1970 model) 1.Badges/the ones are all plastic, but the others are all metal.Do the judges mind it? 2.D hub caps/the ones have later production style tabs, but the others have earliest big tabs.Do the judges mind it? 3.Front bumper and brackets/the one has later style which got two bolts on left and right for front side bracket, but the other has early style which got one bolt on left and right for front side bracket.Do the judges mind it? 4.Bumper overrider rubber/the ones have currently available bolted style, but the others have earliest rubber nipple style.Do the judges mind it? 5.Steering lock mechanism/the one has currently available style,it's cylinder is relatively fat and a beeper switch is on the entrance of a key,but the other has early style which got narrower cylinder and a beeper switch is in the middle, right hand side.Do the judges mind it? 6.Fuel reservoir tank/the one is made of metal, but the other is made of plastic.Do the judges mind it? 7.Alternator and starter and cooling fan/the ones are currently available style, but the others are earliest style.Do the judges mind it? I am not joking,I really proud of my Z's mostly exterior panels and floors, interior trims except door trims and seats have not been replaced since the car was born. And the engine,it still got 35 years old pistons and valves and a crank shaft and cam and so many other parts. They simply have reconditioned and tuned. I was ready if the judges asked me to operate all the lighting systems and radios, wipers, rear defoggers, beeper and anntenna.Of course the locking systems. But,if I entered in the stock class, the judges would not mind it.Because the rules does not require to do that. I attached two photos. The one is Nissan vintage Z program car shipped in Japan by a Japanese owner.I did see this car,the VIN is some #600s I am sorry I forgot. This red 01/1970 car is very beautiful, and this car could be much better than my Z in the stock class.Even it has later fuel pipes around cam cover, later hose clamps, rubber topped radiator hoses, plastic cooling fan,and later radiator front support member. As a comparison,my engine's photo is attached too. Thank you, kats
  5. Thank you Enrique, thank you.ANA goes to San Francisco and Los Angels as west coast,so if it needs to make a diversion, consider heading to PDX :lick: I should keep it secret.Because some one reads this thread before I arrive at junkyards,he may grab all the spare bridgestones away from me and sell them on Ebay.I hope that will not happen! Thank you Walter Moore, That is amazing even one car rolls out per 50 seconds.Take more time,as the result of good quality. One at 50 seconds and one at 1 minute are almost same for me,both just amazing. 1970 Jan Road & Track said "Our experience with other Datsuns to date tells us that it won't be assembled with the precision of a German car nor will it have the fine edge of "feel" found in the Italians-but the same package..." From this report,German factory took more time than Japanese factory?Or simply German has good skill than japanese and they made a car at a same rate of time in the production line? BTW,when I was a kid, japanese kids were keen about super cars like a Ferrari,Lamborghini,Porche etc.It was a fashion in that days mid to late 1970's.I of course I loved Z(at that time my best Z was a 240ZG)because there was a only one sportscar in japan was the Z.I did not like Toyota 2000 GT,for a kid,it seemed much old fashioned exterior.I collected so many supercar cards, books, models.Every day I played with them with my friends not only in my home also in the school. Those experiences are my basement of my interest of cars. I still remember this, when I took a look at of MIURAH's card, I found the unbaranced aseembled tail lights. It was obvious for even like a kid of myself. I was shocked, why it happened on such a expensive car? After many years passed, when I became a university student,I read a sportscar magazine and it said that poor quality was common and MIURAH was a notorious of that. But Italians have the fine edge of "feel",I do not know because I have never driven supercars. kats
  6. Hello,I am sorry I was sleeping.. Hi Carl, thank you for your advice, yes I have been planing to make a research to the people at Nissan shatai.Last time I made an interview to two test crews in the U.S. Mr.Uemura and Mr.Osawa.Next time, will definately be another person who worked exactly at production line at the factory.I do not know I can find such a worker but I will try to ask it. And of course I am trying to get much more break down data of monthly(or daily) production number which is hiding somewhere around in the factory. Do not be rush,I even do not know it really exsists or not.Just I am going to ask it. And I will fly to the U.S. with Boeing 777 in this summer or autum.I am now preparing it so hard.I am very exciting that I can go there and I will have a good time to seeing junk yeard around airport. kats is going to hunt "Bridgestone superspeed radial 20,175 SR 14"s !! Thank you, kats
  7. Hi, Perfect explanation Alan, thank you very much. That kind of topic is very difficult to explain in english for me,but you did great!!I will trace your statement for my english skill test I am going to have in 2 months...Thanks! mdbrandy, thank you for the attachment.I see what I am feeling about 1969 door jam tag on yours too.Looks like they did not use 5 digits punching machine, they just use one at a time by hand. 26th-Z,great great great!!!You are faster than I expected, you now found one great evidence."69 11" harness has a key,I think Her Majesty was waiting that harness,??If you trace around that harness, you will see more evidence? Thank you, they are exciting.26th has "69 11" harness, just great. kats
  8. Hi, Please do not delete, Bambikiller240 I like your posts.Sometimes we need a break. Thank you Carl,I see your statement."At this point" there is no reason to doubt the accuracy of the data itself.I can understand that. But,I can not stop doubting until I have confirmed there was no mistake. From your web site,I have been interested these cars, 00789 has a production date of 12/69 00793 has a production date of 12/69 These cars make me doubt the door jam tag.Carl,as you said, once the factory record (report,regard?)00789/00793 as 12/69,then "punching month" was correctly made on the door jam tag.No matter where and when the tag attached on the car. There was no one making a mistake in this loop. But,I still feel something unusual.A person(I do not really know who was)did not make a mistake of reporting?A person did not make a mistake of punching month?Or these car were made in 12/69,but the VINs like them were given by accident? Without pointing out some mistakes,I can not explain these cars. Because, the data sheet from NISSAN shatai shows only 542 export Zs(not only for the U.S.) were made until DEC 1969.Something #700(even they are HLS30-U,just one category) is way beyond. Please some one gives me a good idea of these 00789/00793 cars. These cars must have "date" not later than 12/69 on every little parts which should have date on them.I want to inspect these cars.Harness, steeringwheel, gages, etc. These dates should be at or earlier than 12/69.If not,who made a mistake?what was worng? Simply I want to find something "odd",just for fun. If I find a mistake related U.S. door jam tag, then what I want to do? I do not know.Just I am curious about it. 26th-Z,thank you for your offer.Blank tag will be a great item for me!! P.S. I found the date on the steering wheel,"45 ,3 , 2" means 1970 Mar. 2nd.It was very hard to see, they are almost fading. My spair tire tells "1-70" And please see rear window defroster relay, when you disconect it from a side bord, you see 3 digits on the screw hole tab.Mine has "003",does this mean 1970 Mar.? kats
  9. I did not intend to force you 26th-Z,but I am sorry my post made you feel duty work.We are not in a hurry,no-time restrictions. When you remember that, please do it for me.Because they are your cars!Your wonderful time with your Zs is yours, yes . I envy you, with hot girls 26th-Z!!I did not know you have a DATSUN jacket.Looking great in your jacket. When I cruised Long beach with my Z last year, but there was no hot girl made an offere a navigator in my american Z.I wish I had a lot of muscle! Will make some differences? kats
  10. Thank you Alan and 26th-Z, Like you two, enthusiasts who have cars disassembling and rebuilding inprogress are very helpful for this kind of topic.I can ask many details which usually I can not look into them unless I disassemble them. But for a speedometer,it is easy to see from underneith of a dash.Yes,that attached photo is mine. Alan,I see what you are saying!I was expecting that. What I am going to say about "be worried" is just wondering how non-U.S. owners regard(guess/imagine) their car's build date. But Alan, you told us the story of Tsukamoto-san,of cource I remember that,it gives me a new point of view. We should re-consider about door jam tag,do not we?Before I heard the Tsukamoto-san story,I had never doubted accurasy of the door jam tag.But now,I think that not to rely on it all the time.I do not say the door jam tag is not worth at all.Anyway, it shows MONTH of car's built. But even MONTH,there could be an error. This is my thought, especially for 1969 cars, seems Nissan shatai was not so systematic about building cars.Alan's post about Tsukamoto-san is showing it,I think. And remember, earliest U.S.240Zs(1969 production) had to wait for departure because of having problem which U.S.Nissan claimed to Nissan HQ.Many of Nissan excutives said "about 3 months" they hold U.S.240Z at the factory.I have been searching what was a problem(I was told they were steering vibration and road noise and vibration from the rear differencial) and what they did for those U.S.240Zs?They replaced and add what parts?Remember the U.S. and Canada test driving crew reported finally U.S.Nissan accepted a new 240Z which equipped advance parts arrived by air on 20th DEC 1969. So at least,I think they hold 1969 U.S.240Zs until very late DEC 1969.Tsukamoto-san's story happened after these holding days cancelled, what do you think of it? The data from Nissan shatai, they made 97 export Zs in DEC 1969.388 export Zs in NOV,so U.S.Nissan began to claim between NOV and DEC I guess. Alan, you love this,in DEC 1969, 688 japanese Zs were made.We do not see 12/69 door jam tag so many,do we?I guess there were so few U.S.240Zs in DEC 1969.Most of the DEC 1969 export Zs could be LHD 240Z for other nations and RHD 240Z!!(I know we could have HS30 and HLS30(240Zs except U.S.)from May 1969) In JAN 1970, 1010 export Zs were made.Looks Nissan shatai was released from the holding, once they made cars, they do want to hold cars otherwise limited spacing and cars get to deteriolate going to be a problem. Let's discover "date",26th-Z can be a pioneer of finding a trend of parts date and VIN and door jam tag.You could tell us accurasy of the door jam tag,or roughness and mistake of the door jam tag. 26th & 27th,I think I'll never find such a good chance to use cross-reference method. You will find why 27th has an one month earlier tag than 26th.Just mistake?or some reason to stay in the factory?I hope you will see the evidence and you will reach the fact as close as you can. Then you can tell us a trend of parts date and door jam tag for early cars. Courtesy of Mr.WATANABE's web site, there are so many "date" of his 1969 Fairlady-Z432.Why does he say his Z432 is 1969 made?Of cource his japanese car does not have a door jam tag.He shows "date" on the steering wheel "44,12,3" means 1969 DEC 3rd.And his previous owner shows his car was registerd in very late DEC 1969.So,we can follow his car's date as a good reference. http://www.geocities.jp/ps30diy/sagyo/oil-p-m/oil-p-m.htm P.S. I have been worried about door jam tags for 1969 240Zs.Am I only one to feel not so professional touch for punching VIN on the tag?I saw some 1969 door jam tags so far, seems to me always VINs are not beautifully punched.Like this 11/69 HLS30-00476.I am thinking this will be a good sample for rough operation about door jam tag which Alan told us Tsukamoto-san's story. Thank you, kats
  11. Hello, I think we always love to talk about build date of the Zcar,Alan T. and 26th-Z,I think we talked about this before, please everyone join here everyone. I hope this thread will help me/someone develop my/his idea and imagine when ROUGHLY my/his Zcar was born. Ok,let's start listing of my 240Z's "date" which I found so far. "21020" speedometer back face,I think "21st Feb 1970" "70 02" a tag on a harness infront of a radiator, near dual horns,"Feb 1970" "12 1969" Seat belt tags "03/70" plate above a driver's door striker So,the plate above a driver's door striker shows reasonable date.I think I can say door striker's date should not be earlier than these "parts date" considering the purpose and meaning of the plate. But could we have a car which has a door striker build date is earlier than each part's date?If it happns, there might be a mistke to stamping a date for the door striker plate.Especialy for early Zcars,I am wondering that Nissan-shatai was doing correctly or not about the date plate.Of course, before doubting this,we have to be sure the parts have not been replaced since the car was born. If we can gather huge number of relationship of these part's date and door striker's date,we can see a trend in the relationship of part's date and door striker's date.Discover various"date",use cross-reference method. Then, for Z owners whoes car does not have a date plate above a driver's door striker, they can see and apply the trend of the relationship of part's date and door striker's date. Let's say,If we can settle down a trend of a Zcar looks rolled out from the factory aprox.one or two month later or just same month of part's date, those Z owners do not have to be worried about lack of door striker's date. Of course, there might be some exceptions,I know. Like a engine room harness, speedometer are good chanse to discover the date. They are not likely intended to be replaced, are not they? I love to guess and think about back in 1969/1970 becuase I was born in 18th JUN 1969.I am very interested in my 03/70 240Z's birthday. I know about some mania of Fender stratocaster, they are also very very interested in the build date of the guiter. Some rock star want to have the guiter which have a build date exactly same one's birthday. In my case,I would never find "18th JUN 1969" on early Z cars. The date is too much early for cars which were sold.Could be apply for prototypes. But I have no idea to buy such a rarest car. P.S.some additional informations, "45. 3. 27" back of earliest D hubcaps which has big tabs.Means"1970 Mar 27th"(these are which I bought 5years ago from the U.S. Other caps which I have got from Mr.Matsuo do not have date like this,it says only "103 IKI JAPAN") Also I will check my steering wheel, there should be the date. kats
  12. Hello Bryan, Thank you for your inputs, they are very impressive and interesting. What I am trying to say is,I am very happy when I hear someone is telling their love of japanese made car "DATSUN".Not TOYOTA or other japanese brands, because I LOVE my datsun 240Z so much.I love to drive/take care/look at/fix a little bit/ my 240Z very much. Also I love to collect evry related early(1969/1970) 240Z's brochures and manuals.I love to see many many Zs in various countries. Also I am very happy I can talk here all of you Z enthusiasts. Can you imagine how happy and honor I am to knowing so many people love their japanese made car outside of japan?I simpley thank for I am japanese.I am not Mr.K nor Mr.Matsuo,I did not make Zs,but I feel this. You can tell it do not you? I know there is a very hot thread about 1969 fairlady-Z in this club,I am trying to read and understand what is going on,it is a difficult for me but good english training for me.That thread and here my starting thread have some relationship I think.I feel it is hard to force to change one's opinion.Only I can do is say opinion, hear opinion, then choose waht I agree with. I had(have)tried to change japanese people's and magazine's point of view.As I said in the begining, japanese people do not look at DATSUN 240Z.They are always interested in fairlady-Z432,ZG etc. I can say nowadays situation has been changing little bit, I feel it when I talk with many fairlady owners at the meetings and website.Even when I drove my Z around my home,an old gentleman waved his hand and said"I saw the TV program, well sold in the U.S.,yours LHD,cool!" But like used to,magazines are always reporting Z432 and 240ZG mainly. I love to see these japanese Zs and I love to meet and spend wonderfull time with these Zs owners,it is my treasure. This is true.I always dream if I can own fairlady-Z432 or 240ZG with my best DATSUN 240Z simultainiously, that will be great. But I can not let the magazines keep reporting same thing, they should know what DATSUN 240Z is,and they should know what is going on outside of japan now? I want to say this for japanese people. Not LHD or RHD. DATSUN is there.Thinking about S30,NOT to see only japanese S30/fairlady-Z. I would like to say this to japanese people; Look at this web club,we(japanese people) should thank for this situation do not we?I mean still so many people loving thier Zs even 36 years since the Z rolled out.And not only this club, there are many many Z clubs and Z web clubs. And,And, what a surprising thing, they discuss and report about Z so hot and so enthusiastic and so many topics they have got.For example, they talk about 1969 fairlady selling in the U.S. Have you ever imagined the western people talk about fairlady-Z like this? They are very very serious, the way of talking and thinking is much passionable and deep than like we do.Their knowledge is greater than we,even about fairlady-Z,they know very well. (Alan, you are very famous in japanese Z owners. We all are surprised why you know about S30 so much.It is surprising you are not japanese!!) We are proud of being japanese. Then we must respect these people do not we?;; I say again,it is difficult to change the situation.I did request many magazine office to pick up about DATSUN 240Z more, but only few books took it.Also so many times I claimed not to exprain about japanese fairlady only, but they did not hear me.Only two magazines picked my article about DATSUN 240Z up in the magazine, the one gave me 10 full color pages.I really appriciated it. But still feeling difficulty,I have stopped to claiming to japanese magazines.I am recovering to spend time for my Z,but it is not like used to,I am not so free to do that. Japanese people doing simuler things(restoring, racing, touring etc)but I think it is surprising these activities(like this club) are conducting out side of japan! Some of you may say especialy in the U.S.,it is not so special because so many Zs were sold in the U.S. Yes,that is right. But I want to say,for me it is wonderful thing to know so many people outside of japan love Zs so much. And I want to share my feelings with rest of japanese people.I am sure when japanese people know these situation, they will be surprise so much. Especialy talikng about ORIGINALITY and EARLY STORY,these are not so hot in japan. This is my opinion, there are many clubs and many websites and many clubs in japan, but I do not think there are so many people are seriously interested in and doing restoration and talking about WHAT IS ORIGINAL and WHAT IS EARLY PARTS like many of you here do. I started this thread almost 2 and a half years ago, this time I red my post again,I found something is changing in my mind but something remain the same. And even completely new understandings is coming up in my mind. Looking back these days since I started this thread,I had some important experiences which make me involve more deeply in my hobby 240Z,so My wife and kids sometimes complaining about my playing my 240Z. Also these experiences opend my eyes widely. These experiences are, First of all, thank you for Mr.Matsuo.I talked with him and visited his office many times,he kindly let me ask about Z's question and let me look at many many slides which he did take photos of Z S30.Mr.Matsuo still keeps tools which exactly he used when making cray models, they are just fantastic to look at.Even he gave me stock parts from his home, hubcaps and over riders and emblem and a watch which inspired him to design S30's stop clock, etc etc. I saw his hootage of styling/designing S30,I say S30 is his design. Not other man's work. There were many 2 seater with fast back style before the Z was born.If some one who designed 2 seater fastback could say S30 was oriented one's concept, there could have been so many people regarding as a S30's designer.I think it does not make sence. I think Mr.Matsuo did not find 2 seater style ahead anyone else in the world, but he actualy did so many works and efforts to design S30. There was a NISSAN 550X,some people may say it was a base of S30,I do not agree with that.550X was a 2 seater, fast back yes.But the man who designed 550X had never touched S30 prototypes nor advised.Because Mr.Matsuo said the man was left nissan already when Mr.Matsuo had began to study next generation sports car which went into the Z. kats
  13. Hi, I post photos of an HITACHI LT145-35,I happened to get it yesterday.I was trying to rebuild old one myself, but the shop which I ordered some minor rebuilding parts for my old HITACHI had the completely rebuild LT145-35. I was so surprised and I bought it about $230 U.S. I was stupid I did not take pictures before installing. Will continue report about this. kats
  14. Thank you Will, If you need,I will let you use my seat cushion side protectors as a sample. And please return them! kats
  15. Hi,I do not know much about these technique but I wish someone replicate following parts,if they are made,I am sure I buy them. #1 A rubber grommet for anntenna drain tube #2 R & L seat cushion plastic side protector #3 A rear deck inner weatherstrip early(76912-E4100) #4 5 Bridgestone superspeed radial-20 175-SR14!!!! Thank you, kats
  16. 26th-Z, The heat shield has holes in the middle, this is very very rare.It makes me imagine the hole was a hand craft made.I want to know why they made this heat shield? With this heat shield, the spring rate was a different from another one? Also the "up-side down"throttle linkage is unique. My 03/1970 240Z has a early one, just same as 26th-Z showed us."up-side down"one is a later type,so is there something changing later? Carl, First, I looked up the part number of oil press.sending unit in the NOV 1969 parts catalog, there is a 25240-89910 SWITHCH-OIL PRESSURE in the Electrical section "25-1/switches, flasher unit & cigarette lighter" But,I felt something unusual by cross-cheking my another parts catalog DEC 1979 FINAL ISSUE.It begins from 25070-89910 SWITHCH-OIL PRESSURE (10KG). I recheked NOV 1969 catalog,I could not find 25070-89910first,but finaly I made it by serching from part number index, the number is in the Electrical section "26/speedometer,tachometer & combination meter" I do not know why,25070-89910 is described "ASSY-GAUGE OIL PRESSURE ENGINE" and the picture for this number is a combination gauge, oil pressure portion. This style of discription is continued to first Rev.Mar 1970,and second Rev.Jun 1970. So I went to the local NISSAN and asked them show me both,25240-89910 & 25070-89910.And I bought one 25070-89910. Thank you, kats
  17. Hi 26th-Z, Hmm,I thought the cap was not black. But it is black...Simply the cap is shining, reflecting the light so it looks much brighter than black. More I am interested in your brochure,1969 brochure. Is there date of issue on the back?I can not find any date on my brochure, just unreadable code on the back. "Prices and specifications are subject to change withpout notice.Form No. 502/500M/270/GP" kats
  18. Hi Enrique, please try again this one, http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/working.html I checked this link today with a computer outsied and it worked normal. I hope you can see them. But they are not so special for you... I attached these pictures,#1/from the earliest manual and #2/my engine 5 years ago. Both show the heat shield with lower hole for the springs. And both show these S.U. do not have a drain bolts at a float chamber. This is a signe of early S.U. kats PS.26th-Z,I guess the distributer cap was gray at very early production, but later turned black without changing part number. But I do not know when the change was made. Please see carefuly this last picuture, this is from very famous brochure in the U.S. I guess printed early 1970,the distributer cap is not black, seems to me grayish color. This car has an early type cabin air duct which has a metal basement. So this car maybe 1969/Jan 1970 model. kats
  19. Hi Carl, Thank you for telling me,I revise my website. Screw or Bolt?In a service manual it said "screw" but in a parts catalog"bolt".Switch or Sending unit?Sending unit is suitable for me,it is not like switch on/off. I did not know the oil pressure sending unit was used on the roadstar too. I only know a door opening handle! Some parts were installed on both S30/roadstar,this is interesting. I am wondering that the sending unit which many people switched from originaly equipped on L24. Is this it?I attached 2 pictures.First,an oil pressure sending unit on L24 with a single carb.Second,an oil pressure sending unit on L24 with a dual SU carbs. Both pictures were taken from the service manual. 2 weeks ago I went to the NISSAN parts department in Kyoto,I saw two kinds of oil pressure sending unit. The one is 25240-89910,this is a very small unit and it has an exactly same shape as seen in the first picture"L24 with a single carb"Is this small unit the one which many people switched?.Another one is 25070-89910,this is what I bought which has same shape as seen in the second picture"L24 with dual SU carbs" The second one 25070-89910 is the one which I bought as you can see in my web site, I bought it aprox.$50 U.S. 26th-Z,the number for the distributer cap is same in the Nov 1969 catalog.22162-E3001 was not changed from first issued Nov 1969,first rev. Mar 1970,second rev. Jun 1970.I did checked them. kats
  20. 26th-Z,I am feeling the same as you.Let's talk whatever strange parts which related/seems related to early and OEM parts here!! I am very happy many people talk and post photos here. Alan, thank you for the photo,I am very interested for PS30-00009.You have many old japanese magazine than me,so please keep looking this thread and help to identify the early story of S30. Thank you 240ZX,yours has holes in the middle?Only "29" HLS30s between yours and mine,so I must have middle one?But I checked today, mine has holes at the end of plate.I must call TETSU,he bought my Z from L.A. and he restored my Z 5 years ago.He should remember he restored the plate which came with my Z or he just bought new one from the factory. I have many many things that I want to post here. kats PS.I attatched this photo, you can see the blue air cleaner and blue/grayish distributer cap,and very unusual fuel pipe with white rubber fuel pipe to the SU carbs. This photo is taken from mid 1970 brochure, but I must say this 240Z is the same car which shows up in the earliest service manual and very early brochures/press release photos. The reasons are described soon. I will check the part number,26th-Z.

Thank you taikaki, and remember muffler finisher and distributer cap? They still looks great on my car!!
  24. Sorry Bryan! I have got the dealer list from ebay.It was not expensive, just a few people made a bid.I love to see it to confirm some dealer names which I can see them on brochures and sales tags in my hand. 26th-Z,yes that emblem.Do you have left & right? kats
  25. Carl, thank you very much for great informations.I really like to hear those kind of information. Now I am trying to think, the story of removing badge is real. Then some questions come up in my mind, when it happened, why and how many HLS30s had got fairlady-Z's badge, very very interesting. Alan,I feel something from your comment,it helps my way of thinking wide and careful. There might be some factor, crossing each other. It could not be tell just one sentence.Should be complicated. This is just my poor thoughts, the fairlady badged HLS30s could be " a present" from Nissan Tokyo.Intentionally, ironically, black humor. Mr.K fought against Nissan head quarters about naming. Not only naming, Mr.K had to do lots of work to pursue his dream"240Z".Same Mr.Matsuo,he also did hard work for his design. At that time, excutives of Nissan did not like sports cars, they think sports cars do not make profits!! bpilati, your father's 510 story is nice.I checked dealer adress,"Pence-Briggs Datsun in Richmond, VA." is not listed JUL 1970 issued one.So your father perchased 510 from brand new dealer in Richmond I think. Thank you, kats
