  1. Blue , you play the guitar! I love Fender Storatocaster . Like Zcar , 1969 model is the best I like . Jimi Hendrix is my hero . Kats
  2. One more tonight, I would like to show this tape , this is a Nissan 8 track stereo demo tape . It contains guidance of operations of the stereo system , a female voice talks to you “ thanks for choosing Nissan 8 track car stereo, this stereo is very reliable under vibration condition.... to begin with, let’s adjust the balance of left and right speaker s , I will make a sound from the right , then left , and both ... “ And this tape is made by Clarion , Stereo system was made by two manufacturers, Hitachi and Clarion at that time . Hitachi doesn’t provide music , but Clarion was a brand of music , lots of singers belonged . This tape , at the end , Nissan March is featured. I found this March was used in the film of “ development of Datsun 240Z “ at the end of its video , you will hear it. Kats
  3. At least I have one label of glass which was removed from the NOS one when I had it for my blue 1970 240Z , that was in 2003 . Kats
  4. The NOS rear glass has been installed successfully, I am so happy with it . Mr. Tasaka , who is my friend and he restored my Z432 for the several car shows in Japan and ZCON 2014 did the installation job . He is very happy because the old glass is going to be on his Fairlady 240ZG awaiting full restoration by him , just for his pleasure. Also he has a white Z432 , has been sitting for a decade, half completed its restoration. Seems this old glass pushed his mind ahead and gained his passion for doing his own cars , I am also looking forward to seeing his cars ready for the road . I just can’t remove the label on the glass , well , the rain will sink into the paper and once it has softened , the wind will blow it off . Kats
  5. Hi Gavin , I have carried a dash , some Bridgestone Super speed Radial -20 , 4.5 J steel wheels etc ? But this time , I was so nervous because of the glass , it is fragile . Of course they were in a cargo , not in a cockpit ! Today I did re-adjustments of the front bumper which I was not happy. This one is the earliest bumper which has only single stud bolt per side , and this one is not perfect shape compared when it was new . I want it to be more pointing on center tip , and the bonnet is also not perfect. I want the bonnet to be more flat or even pointing up on center tip . I am now compromised , little bit happier than before . I loosened the bumper little bit downward to have more distance between the bonnet and the bumper. I also have installed the rear side bumper which is the earliest one , without cut away near the bracket below. Kats
  6. Hi Jerry, you got nice parts , I am impressed with your effort. Here is an old thread about the fuel pump bracket, if you might be interested in . And a small correction if I may , your photo shows the pump installed up side down . The bracket can be purchased at Revive Jalopy , they replicate it just like an original . I am using the replica on my Z432 , keeping an original for my LHD Z432 project. The parts number almost gone , due to aging . Kats
  7. Here is the car which I am talking about . Kats
  8. I will make a replica of this label , this can be seen in the test car of US and Canada in late 1969 . Kats
  9. Hi , I will replace a rear deck glass of my Z432 with a NOS one soon , I have got this when I flew the place and brought it back home with my plane. I am so glad that the defroster works perfect, the glass passed the operation test . It is my style , boiled water under the glass . Kats
  10. Thank you Blue , MikeB , and Chris . I see ③ on the two places , they are LHD dash board, so the picture is no reversed . I think it is very Japanese people-ish that writing ③ , people always tend to write numbwr in a circle when we want to mean “ numbering “ . ( I can show here ③ easily because my keyboard is for Japanese language ) Also , it is very natural for Japanese people that we use “ No “ for “ number “ , this is numbering too . However , it is a little bit abrupt that we think the ③ on the dash would mean HLS30- 00003 . It doesn’t have to be HLS30-00003 ‘s dash for the service manual ‘s photo example. The dash could be pulled from a shelf where newly assembled dash boards standing-by for the installation. Kats
  11. Gavin , your FD has a set of gages on top of the dashboard, cool ! I will show you my Nissan SUV has a additional gages too . Blue , you did find the pictures, thanks posting them again . You see the ‘ Z flag ‘ on the targa bar . Kats
  12. Thanks Alan , that is very helpful to understand what was gong on to the seat designing at that time . A legislation effect, I got it . So was it like Japanese and German manufacturing’s adherents habit which were sometimes seen in industrial world ? Prepare and finish well before the cut off date of regulations applied. Lamborghini Miura , and Ferrari Datona didn’t have the high back seats in the same era , did they ? The legislation was not mandatory? Or just recommended item , not necessarily had a high back seat , a head rest was a must item ? How about other Nissan cars in 1969 ? Blue , Mr . Chiba is the interior designer of S30 . Approximately in early 1968 , dashboard and seat and other things had its design finished . He said in this book ‘ I disappointed a little bit about the finish of the production dashboard, the cray model which I designed had much sharper edges around meter foods. I was told by the manufacturer ‘ you can not have the edge here and there , and there ‘ I felt the technology of vacuum forming at that time was limited compared to today’s level ‘ This book ‘ Motor Fan ‘ 20th Oct 2002 is very fun to look at . 13. Hi Gavin , here are the pieces which were replaced by new vinyl pieces. Do you really need them ? I don’t think they are usable though. But let me know if you need , I will send them to you . As you can see my blue trims are not matched with each other , each trim has each aging sign and stain . I wish I could have a complete set of new trims including seats ! My blue looks like green ,especially the overhead trim and the center tunnel, and the side dog leg panels. And a comparison of fat and slim seat back , you can see the difference in the width of the side piece . Plastic panels looks light blue , very different from the other trims . BTW , my blue car doesn’t have a access panel for replacing bulbs. Kats
  14. Thanks Namerow , I thought S30’s seat back was inspired by Porsche 911 , but when S30 was development in progress ( like 1968 to 1969 ) 911 has old fashioned seat back . I believe Mr. Matsuo and his team said the seat back which was integrated with the head rest was the new , never seen in other production cars . Is it true ? So far I think yes . Kats
  15. Hi , Who said “ let’s shave the meat here “ of the early seat back ? #1 Mr . K #2 Interior designers #3 Kaku - U member (test crew of 240Z in US and Canada in late 1969 ) The answer is #3 Kaku - U member . They reported back to Tokyo along with numerous other issues of a new sports car , S30 series . I installed the seat bottoms which were restored by Mr . Sudo for my 240ZG , the seat backs are non - restored, 100 % originals . But I see some deformed at the RHD seat . looks so nice. Kats
  16. Thanks Chris , I like it too . Here is a quiz , Who said “ let’s shave the meat here “ of the early seat back ? #1 Mr . K #2 Interior designers #3 Kaku - U member (test crew of 240Z in US and Canada in late 1969 ) Mr . Sudo always says “ the seat which I make is not original, but I try to make it look original. Also I add pads and change tension of springs etc etc , these work will definitely give more comfortabl hold for a driver / a passenger. I think the modification of a later slim type to transform to an early fat type was a challenging task , this had never done before for Mr . Sudo . Pleas see attached pictures, the shape is different, and now I feel very natural that my 03/70 240Z has a pair of an early type seats . I have bought a beige rubber band for the seat bottom, but this time I didn’t intend to supply it because Mr. Sudo ‘s band is very attractive for me . I will not take my blue 240Z for The judged car show anymore , and I think I can make it original look using the rubber band anytime . Kats
  17. Hi Gavin , I have no problem giving it to you , but I am wondering the color would match your interior or not . The biggest problem is , either my old blue vinyl or remaining vinyl are not enough for your pair of seats . Kats
  18. @nix240z , thanks Steve , the blue seats now got your seat bottom bolster, looks Fantastic and installed just like an original !! The picture which shows the blue interior used for measurements is excerpt from the video of Nissan motor company. My blue is a little bit greenish , the color was arranged to achieve matching other aged interior trims . Kats
  19. Hi , I have picked up my car , and the seats were beautifully done , I am so happy with it . Mr. Sudo made them look early type , fat seat back . And also he put his hand work for my 240ZG’ s seat bottom . Only RHD bottom have it’s center portion replaced . I can’t tell which one replaced viewing from a few feet away. Kats
  20. Thanks Mike , nice owner’s manual for Fairlady Z series! Kats
  21. Thanks Alan , that is what I too would like to introduce everyone outside Japan , and even more , I want to emphasize this , the first Japanese market S30 reclining seats (10/69 to 01/71 ) don’t flip forward . So there is a difference in the seat reclining mechanism cover . The earlier one has a wide tab , on the other hand , the later one has a narrow tab . This difference comes from the travel amount of the seat back supports . Thanks Blue , the seats is swapped from the other one , this is what I need to do for my restored seats , because I don’t want to make them old ! Kats
  22. Thank you everyone , I appreciate those valuable inputs. Kats, It looks like the numbers shown in the table are correct. Not sure why the numbering was different on the early RH seats. Mike , as I am looking at the numbers you showed here , I was wrong about my correction for the part numbers of the RHD seats . Now I have a big question, “ what is different between them ? “ If “ COMP SEAT “ means the seat includes the seat rails , and plastic spacers and plastic nuts , those things would make the difference between JDM and Export models. But I don’t think that happens... By the way, my 03/ 1970 HLS30 , I realized the RHD seat doesn’t slide fully backwards , is this for Export LHD models ? Or just the seat rails doesn’t work properly? My Z432 and 240ZG have a RHD seat which can be adjusted with a sliding mechanism fully backwards, of course. Kats
  23. Hi 240dkw , the rubber mat material is different from the brown one which can be seen in Mr . Sudo’s factory. Kats
  24. I amended, I am glad not for me , for this thread made by everyone here ! Kats
  25. Thanks Mike , it is a great help . Don’t you think the parts number is something wrong , do you ? Please see my corrections. Anyway , the number E4103 is for the “ brown “ seats , and this doesn’t mean either the one which is kept by Mr. Sudo or the one can be seen in the test car . We actually have the tan seats as “ brown “ E4103 , don’t we ? Jason240z , I am so glad that you said that to me ! Kats
