  1. Z432 specialized S20 water pump came back from a shop, refreshment was done properly. Expensive!! Can you spot a Hitachi mark on the 3 way pipe connector ? It is cool. I still do not have time to replace it, and yes, still leaking little bit ! And my blue 240Z is in the museum next to a elder Fairlady. Kats
  2. The decal "Do not touch!" was attached by the museum, I think it is useful for daily use like this. I love your dad's story. Kats
  3. Hi hr369, I enjoyed so much the ride with you, that day was a pretty hot day for Japanese May, but air was very dry so the S20 engine seemed quite happy and proud of making fantastic sound . Thank you for uploading the video, I will keep it forever. This is the best video which I can hear the S20 engine beautiful sound. Kats
  4. Thank you grannyknot & 26th-Z , so my guess seems opposite, my blue trim could be later version , for better airflow ? Interesting !! Kats
  5. Attention all 1969-1970 owners, I am afraid that this could be asking twice, but I want to know about. My 03/1970 240Z has a unique air vent on the rear gate interior trim, see attached pictures and compare to the tan interior trim. My blue trim has a different style air vent , there is a black basement panel attached with phirip head screws. And also 6 holes. On the other hand, the tan trim does not have a black panel, and 8 holes there. My 01/1970 Z432 (black interior as you know) has a trim exactly same as the tan style. Could the blue style be for only extreamly early cars? This tan trim , I do not know the VIN. But seems like Nissan reduced cost and increased built efficiancy. My Z432 has it, however my Z432 is earlier than blue one. But, black interior trim was applied far more cars than the blue cars. So I guess only very early black interior cars like 1969 made would have same as my blue one, the other colors ( blue and tan ) cars were not so many produced, maybe early 1970 (until March or April?) cars would have the unique trim. Any input is appriciated. Kats
  6. Careless, from what I have been collecting and cross-refferencing those factory descriptions, I can say changes were made late 1971, Oct 1971. In another words, it was made when the new center consol and the new hubcaps were installed and the final gear alined with the rear axle. Basically E8700/E8800 etc was applied from Oct 1971, these part numbers must be for the new changes. And N3000 etc was applied from Oct 1972 and later, 20100-N3000 has a shorten exhaust chrome finisher to compare E4100. Please note the 4th picture from the bottom, paragraph 4-3 , it says " ....the exhaust system has a new shape where the two pipes between one pipe." And also the 3rd picture from the bottom, it says "....applied a dual vibration-proof mounting (manual trans only) " the 2nd from the bottom and the last pictures confirmed the description avobe, I am so sorry using these pictures without permission. I believe the car was on ebay. Kats
  7. Hi, here are some additional information of the exhaust system . Pictures from Fairlady-Z and Datsun 240Z service manual and service bulletin. We have 4 types of front pipe, #1 early manual trans #2 early auto trans #3 later manual trans #4 later auto trans The early type has a junction between dual pipes and single pipe, later type does not have it , just welded two pipes together. Kats
  8. Wonderful thing! Never seen like this before. I think this is a pretty Japanese-ish way of correction. We do this usually in a contract. Stamp is needed everywhere in Japan. Kats
  9. I drove my Orange 240Z 900km from my home to my mother's home. It has got a an automatic transmission, the trip was so easy and I loved it very much. Everyone may think the auto transmission is not desirable, less sportiness , less joy of driving . Yes I know what people are saying and I was the one who was thinking the same way without experience driving the auto transmission of S30. Unless you are at a circuit , you will be happy with the automatic transmission 240Z. I must say my 240Z is keeping preserved condition and mechanically maintained very well. Kats
  10. Hi hr369, I am planning meeting you on May 17 or 19 or 20. Let me know anytime. I hope the sky will be clear for a ride. Kats
  11. Thank you Patcon, I am safe , Kumamoto prefecture is far west from my home. I hope the earthquake will calm down and people over there will have food and water , and good sleep. Kats
  12. It was replaced to my blue 240Z. I want people in Japan to be interested in export S30 more and more . Kats
  13. Hi hr369, I do not think I have ever seen the car, Kyoto is pretty close to my home. Some Japanese shops do rebuilding the S20 pump,. They have all the parts which are necessary for it. My Z432 is now having a temporary stay at my house, Kats
  14. I went fishing with my son by my Z432. After arriving home I found a water pump leakage. I intalled the osccilator of my 240ZG correctly which was installed up side down . I checked it and still keeping accurate time. Kats
  15. I am talking about this, http://www.auto-adviser-stuff.com/stock-cars/Z432.html The white is this , is not it? http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU4072480302/index.html?TRCD=200002 The seller is saying this is not restored, but it is not true. This white car is restored. Kats
  16. Hi Careless, I hope these pictures help you a bit. I did it for my car back in 2003. At least 1969-1972 have all same system Fairlady Zs and 240Zs. Kats
  17. S20 water pump , most Z432s now use GTR water pump , just because Z432's new one is impossible to get. NOS GTR's are still you can find in Yahoo auction. You can see the different angle of inlet tube. And a pipe is sticking from the body at the left corner in the picture , it splits and has two fingers this is for heater of Z432. GTR pipe is a single at the same location. Z432 has a inlet tube which is slightly bended upward while GTR's is straight. Z432's S20 is mounted higher than GTR is and has bigger angle of attack as well. This makes the difference between the two. I need to replace the water pump I noticed little leakage under the pump. Kats
  18. Z432 & S20 engine is expensive now, it was 6,500,000 jpy for an engine itself built by well known builder last year. Not good condition Z432 is 15,000,000 to 18,000,000 range. You can buy a restored Z432 21,500,000 , the one which has been on sale in Nagoya since last year. I think sellers are dreaming too much, price does not look right for that restoration level and quality . Kats
  19. Hi hr369, Thank you for enlightening me, I checked it and I think ethenol is used only a very few brand in Japan. I have never used it and I do not have to warried about losing ordinary hi-octan fuel in Japan. And 240ZG, this car was built for regular (low octan ) gasoline, now I use high octan gasoline for good driving performance. Service manual says if you use high octan gas, you need to have a proper destributer and change timing. Kats
  20. 240Z tool box, I showed these pictures before, onece again I put them here. I lost one tool, that is a ST08900000 a tool for removing a flasher. I have been searching it in my house almost 5 years, but no-luck. I played my electric guiter and I wanted to try to imitate a Hawaiian guiter. I used the tool but it could not make a nice Hawaiian tone. Then I lost the tool, the yellow one in the picture. This time Chris (26th-Z) kindly offered sending it to me, I am so happy that I have the tool again. The new one came here is a silver , same part number on it, I could not be happier. I found out some differences , not only the color but also the alphabet. You can see a M on the right end of the yellow one, on the other hand there is a P on same location of the silver one. It is interesting ! Kats P.S. You can see two types of flaser, the right one is for Fairlady-Z, a small box. The next one is for US 240Z with a big box.
  21. Hi hr369, I am still learning about the ethenol in fuel in japan, I hope some one will describe properly for me. I have the book too, it is a great to look at. I want a book for 1970 Z432 racing also, still looking for it. Kats
  22. Hi Motezuma, thank you and of course I will let you know when I go to Sandiego! Kats
  23. Nissan shatai started assembling Fairlady_240Z/240ZG from Oct 1971 ,all Fairlady-240Z/240ZG came with unleaded engine, valve seats were newly applied for unleaded gasoline. The factory service bulletin explains about it. I am curious how people in the other country did for gas for their 240Z? When did people have to use unleaded for their 240Z? Did owner have to use leaded gas continuously for their 240Z? I want to know about it . Kats
  24. Hi hr369, From the memo I think this car have the clock and oscillater replaced . Both are early type because the owner complained about it just after he bought the car. And when Fairlady 240Z and ZG made a debut , only regular gasoline engine was available . Z432 and Fairlady Z and ZL were available both high octane and regular gasoline. Kats
