  1. Hi Mike, I have never seen such a long one.Good Find:classic: Has anyone noted two types of location of the strap with the buckles? You can see it in the service manual issued 1969,the ones begin from behind seats and the others begin from the tail light panel.BTW, the strap with the buckles looks ordinaly typical length, i.e,not so long. About typical length, I found 2 types of length.I do not know the difference simply comes from quality of manufacturing in late 60's or not. I will post pictures when I back home. kats
  2. Hello Alan, Congratulations on your attending the great festival:love: I see people are looking at your GTR and you!! I must go there and see your GTR and 432R project.I will fly to London June and July... Thank you for sharing pictures. kats P.S Thank you for the post on my thread, when I fly to you please let me know the meaning of the " casett tape". I will bring a small gift for your GTR/S20 engine.
  3. Hello Mike B, Great work, your #32 is really the best example 1969/blue unmolsted car. More pictures please:love: kats
  4. Will, great staff!!That is the one which I am talking about. At least two Vintage Z program cars have that pocket, because I saw those cars in some Japanese car magazines which are introducing Vintage Z program. I guess 240Z in the U.S. had no- choice of audio system, they all got radio as a standard, did not they? Japanese Zs/ Europe 240Z and some other exported 240Z had choice, few people made a choice and got that pocket, I think. Will, what the part number is the pocket? XXXXX-E4100? kats
  5. Thank you watching, Chris,it seems to me that 8 track is not so rare in Japanese Z, in my opinion most of S30 has 8 track. For me, the rarest featuring of japanese S30 is, Non- audio car.How about in all the other country? I saw some exported S30 does not have an audio system, they just have a plastic "pocket" insted of a radio. Carl, the multi recoder deck and the red 8 track NOS blank tapes(5 or so) were given from Mr. Kakimi who is also a pilot(captain) of All Nippon Airways. He used to own Fairlady 240ZG and Datsun 280Z , but they both are sold. The tape , top cover said " Radio Shack" you know this do not you? The Captain Kakimi said he bought the tapes in the U.S. in some 10 years ago. Alan, does your 240ZG also have a 8 Track, does not it? And I want to know the meaning of your fumor, but I could not because I am Japanese... I will look for some original 1970 8 Track tape in the auction, like Jimi hendricks, or Ozaki kiyohiko as an Japanese singer. kats
  6. Hi Joseph, Now I realized that there are two types of the hose, valve to manifold for RHD S30.And you could not apply the hose to your car, I am sorry about that. Let's find good ideas for it,if you have pictures of your car, please let us see.It will be some good help to think about. I made a video link for 8TRACK operation of Z432.Please enjoy it. I have a multi-recorder deck , I made favorite song tapes. http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/z432audio.html I did installed NOS but later gage facing (I painted white scale) , it was a hard work for me. kats
  7. The third day in my holiday: I painted white scale on the water/oil gage by myself!! Not so good but not so bad.Yesterday I replaced new gage face plates to its old originals. But I felt something uneasy. The amp/fuel gage and the clock are nos,so they are very white in their scale/letters.The old one is yellowish due its aging. Then I decided to paint the white dot and tomorrow I will remove heater system and the gage again:stupid: I also replace a horn pad,Z432's pad was cracked,so a new DTSUN pad became a donor,I removed the Z432 center metal badge and applied it to the new pad. Z432's badge is special, the letter of Z is painted red inlay. Radiator fan protector,my Z432 did not come with it. Z432's radiator is made of aluminum, and the protector is attached by screws not welded. But the shape is the same of all the other S30s. Mr.Nishi reproduced it , I painted by myself. kats
  8. Thank you so much Will, the highest praise. I am so happy you like it:love: Hi Joseph, I was thinking of you,I must tell you this finding and the part number before Chris tells us! I attached pictures from the U.S. and Canada parts catalog and service manual, also 240Z RHD model catalog for comparison. The number is 17239-E4600 , this can be seen in the illustration page , the hose is #18.The illustrated shape is different from the actual part, but it is just matter in this catalog. Joseph, you can buy this hose on Ebay I saw this quite often. Or try some Z shop like Motorsport/Banzai motorworks/e.t.c. I will try local Nissan dealer in Japan if they have or not. kats
  9. pictures of Z432's battery. kats
  10. Hi, Now Japan is in a long holidays, very nice sunny day so I have done some works for my Z432. My Z432 had been using OEM new master vac hose, but it was not cloth-braided. How everyone is doing about master vac hose? I have never seen NOS one in the EBAY since I have joined it in 2002. So, I made it. It is not an OEM, it is a fake. But it looks pretty good shape is not it?? I use a NOS fuel hose, and a brass rod. That is all.The rod can be anything if it has enough strength to bend the hose and keep its shape. Just cut the rod appropriately and let it go through the hose. Then you can bend the hose as much as you satisfy, now you go it. Just apply the hose to its original place, the rod is sitting inside with out problems. My 240Z has done same thing and still without problem ,4 years has passed. And the temp/oil gage, my Z432 got NOS one but it is for 1972 or 73. Indication scale is different, later gage does not have white center reference(actually for the water,it is not in center though) So I replaced later scale to original re-conditioned ones.Only facing was replaced. Heater panel label,Mikuni carb label, are in place. Did I show the battery? Fairlady cars have a small battery not like exported cars, the battery hard ware is completely different. Thank you, kats
  11. Hi, Thank you 26th-Z and sblake01, I also imagine when the Z was assembled in the factory. There is a good reference, Mr. Watanabe who owns a 1969 Z432, he has been tracking chassis number and color of Z432 in Japan. Currently he confirmed 80 Z432s still existing in Japan(one or two were shipped to abroad maybe). Most of them are still running on the road, even including 9 Z432-Rs.Here is a link, http://www.geocities.jp/ps30diy/genzon/kekka.html (you need to translate this page to English) You can see same color gropes quite often. Especially Z432-R were produced as an block which contain 4 or 5 cars. kats
  12. Hi Carl, You have good eyes!! I am impressed you pointed these out.Especially a wing nut of the air cleaner box. There are some things that are still misssing, does enyone find out yet? kats
  13. Thank you Filipe:love: Last year I owned this Z432 but I had not enough time to drive her.Only once a month, 1 hour or so each time.I kept her at my parents home. But from now, she is in my house.I drive and drive , even in the rain.I have to take a lot of pictures of this car before she gets dirty and old. About a rally clock, in Japan many owners say it eats a lot of battery power, you will end up complete discharge in three days if you park the car with connecting the clock. I did not believe it, but I had just same thing yesterday. This morning I had to do start Z432 with external power from another car. kats
  14. When I dropped at Mr.Moroe's shop, I happened to see PS30-00087. What a wonderful moment that my Z432 actually met her sister again since they came apart for delivery from the Nissan factory back in January 1970. Like 26th and 27th, Chris:love: They must have wonderful times. PS30-00087, she is now belonging to a new owner recently. She is very beautiful , still keeping original body paint with lots of original part.Amazingly, she has not been restored. Her S20 engine and suspensions have been modified, and she has got AFM air conditioning system. I was lucky I met her, she came to the shop to have totally restoration!! For someone may interested in, she has got reproduction Z432 aluminum wheels. It looks perfect, center cap is also reproduced.I do not know they are still available or not. If you see my Z432's original Magnesium wheel and cap in my website, you can see how the repros are close to mine. kats
  15. Thank you tbone82:love: I love blue , looks great in 240Z.But for Z432, blue is not listed in the catalog. I do not think my 240Z's blue suit for my Z432... I drove my Z432 from Sendai city to Nara city approx. 600miles in one day.I drooped at a Z factory in Kanazawa city on my way, Mr.Moroe who restored this Z was waiting for me and Z432 to see and perform periodical maintenance. When my Z432 is inspected,I decided to replace original fuel tank , because it is not good for use, it is rusty inside, fuel pomp's filter gathered many rust. Mr.Moroe switched old one to NOS tank ,but the new one is for 1975 Z. I t is bigger than 1970 original, but I did not have any choice at that time. I hope the original tank is restored soon and gets back to my Z432 in place. Two pictures, the first one is an orange Z432 pictured in 1969 motor show(press day?) I love this picture , it is a good to know to find the originals. The second one is myZ432. Let's try to find out what is wrong and what is different.Be picky:geek: kats
  16. Hello Arne, I see this tag is a very interesting find,I did search the part number in both US catalog and Japanese catalog. But I could not find. What that number is for? I see these words in the tag, " Hokubei-Shiyou" this means " North American model" below the HLS30-UV. About the red round stamp, " (Kabu) Sankyou-Kousan " on top, this is the manufacturer's name. There is a small red stamp next to the date 46,7,20 (20th July 1971) is craftsman's or inspector's name, " Tanaka " . In Japan, stamp is usually showing Last (Family ) name. At the bottom, "Kensa-zumi" means inspection has completed. Hope this help, kats
  17. Thank you for all of you making various inputs for my question. I am sorry I could not make reply quickly. I learned about Porsche little bit here,it is interesting to know about 914,924, etc there are stories behind those car,it is interesting. Some of you are pointing out about "Jaguar" as the car talking about here, "poor man's Jaguar " yes, I have heard it before in some Japanese magazine. What am I feeling about poor man's Porsche at this point? With regarding all of your inputs, I do not think many people were saying/considering 240Z as a poor man's Porsche (Jaguar). A very few journalists commented in a few magazine? kats
  18. Hello, I would like to know about "Poor man's Porche" , yes I knew this word and I new Mr.K told this in some books by interview. 240Z is a Nice sports car but inexpensive, Porche was used as a comparison. But I want to know much more , not only from Japanese people saying,I want to know how people out side of Japan feel and use this word. What is a correct meaning for this word? I want to learn this from native speakers. My primary question is, When did people start saying this? In 1970? Did people say 240Z is a poor man's Porche(911)? Or much later, let's say in 1980,did people say 240Z WAS a poor man's Porche(911? ) Or, "poor man's Porche" this word was used for 924/ 917 etc originally?? Did people say 240Z is a poor man's Porche , it is just like 924/ 917 etc? Please tell me this, please. Thank you, kats
  19. Hi Chris!! I started a new thread,please join:classic: kats
  20. Hello, I would like to tell " how much " in Japan right now. I have to say $30K+ condition 240Z in the U.S. is priced $60K in Japan. Now I have been watching 2 U.S. 240Zs(Vintage Z program car, red and gold both 70') they are on sale $60K in Japan but nobody wants to buy it for that price. In Japan, an U.S. 240Z is lowest price range.Japanese people want to pay over $60K for a Z432 if it is not so good condition . Z432R is over $100K, Fairlady 240ZG is like $50K. Japanese people's MAX money for really clean U.S. 240Z is $20-30K.A not so good U.S. 240Z is like $10K -15K. (These are all my own impression) How much does serious U.S. collector pay for a Z432R? My guess is,20 years later I will be 60 years old , I do not think there will be much remaining professional restorers(I mean really skilled mechanic who used to work at Nissan factory when he was young in 70') can take care of my Zs, nor there will be much remaining parts for Zs. In Japan people around 50 to 60 years old lead the pricing for vintage cars. What will happen 20 years later ? Only few enthusiasts will be remaining. The price range for Zs will be going down in 20 years. kats
  21. Thank you everyone, I post a few more pictures.I am sorry I did not take close up view shot . kats
  22. Hello, I have got a nice Safari rally memorabilia badge in Japan.I really love this shape and color. I had been staying at hotel in Tokyo this month, and I found a wonderful thing... The hotel is located just 2 blocks west of NISMO - Omori factory.I looked around entrance and immediately I found a badge collection. There is a description plate tells, "Nanba Yoshiharu-the first president of NISMO- Car badge collection" Mr.Nanba is famous,he was a general manager of Nissan rally team late 60's to 70's.His telling stories are really fun and worth to read,I want to share with all of people but I do not see any publication, have you ever seen in English? Anyway, the collection has an exactly same badge which I have.Is this a kind of an official memorabilia? If someone knows this badge, please let me know. kats
  23. Hello everyone, This winter in Japan,we have got snow quite often.Terrible salt spread on the road everywhere especially country road and some highway.I know but I drove my 240Z and Z432 a little:ermm: Thank you geezer and sblake01, actually My Z432 is not using original nut E4200, I now found Z432 is using the nut you posted, R4670.I did not know that. E4200 is just little bigger than the hole,it can not be in the hole. My friend who is also a Z432 owner,he trimmed the nuts at a professional factory and use them. Probably E4200 used to small as an original made back in 70's, as opposed to the nuts which we can get now is original Nissan made but it is not completely the same like used to. Today some pictures, please note the spare tire cover,it is different from other model. It is made two pieces for Z432 only. This is a reproduction has just completed for me. The material is exactly same as an original. The jute pad you can see is also same material but not dyed. And an oscillator,I replaced to a NOS one.It is bolted, the bolts are welded on the fire wall. kats
  24. Hello Chris, how are you doing ? how is the Restoration going? Will, thank you for the info of nuts.Nowadays tapered basement is common, but AP and American racing need flat basement nuts, right? And this shot is only one Z432R in the brochure. No precise description/specification data.Very cool! kats
  25. Hi 240znz, The grommet for the choke cable is not an original.I just could not come by an original so applied this like throttle boot. Please see the picture of service bulletin. And the duct,it should be go down due to an air cleaner duct running through upper hole. Thank you, kats
