Hello, I have a choke knob and a throttle knob on the console, yes I added a throttle knob by myself during its restoration about 3 years ago. But I have been thinking why there are 2 types of knobs? The round one is original,we know we can see it in the brochure, the square one is also from the factory but it seems later production parts? But Nov 1969 parts catalog's picture shows these knobs are square type. Which is original for my march 1970 240Z? Please see this, http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/choke.html Thank you, kats

Hello, Mark, This is the first time to see the rubber mat for me.It is quite different from mine.Is there any amco logo on the mat?Mine does not have anywhere. Carl and Alan, I knew that mistake when I red my service bulletin No.184. And it is interesting the picture for the floor mats and jutes are very close to actual shape. The picture in the Nov 1969 parts catalog's are not so great. It looks even 1971 later version. 26th-Z, Thank you for your great photo.I see your rear deck does not have insulator,I mean I see 12 holes on the deck. My understanding, this is a typical 1969(or Jan 1970) 240Z's featuring. My march 1970 240Z have insulator for the rear deck so holes are covered, just dents like a bowl there. I will post my rear deck's photo. Thank you, kats

Hello, 26th-Z, thank you advice me,fuel cap question is now clear.By hte way,I think I made a mistake that I posted at wrong category.I should look proper one. halz, thank you and would you want to see close up view? http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/custom.html This stripe I bought from MSA and I made DATSUN label by myself using a color copy machine and a clear vinyl seat. Ben and Enrique, Thank you but I am sorry not to show all pages here. But I know your feeling.I am always hoping we can buy reproduction books like owner's manuals or service manuals, but we want also sales brochures, parts catalogs(same size and same binder version),service bulletins, etc. If I have a good time,I will try. About a taillight,I found a different thing from my HLS30 reading at a japanese service bulletin Nov 1969.There are 5 bulbs for each tail light.BUT my 240Z have only 4 bulbs,is this difference between U.S. and Japan?Or happened in HLS in different year model? daddz, Thank you for your good Z's story.I want to have Z 2 or 3 more, but my wife never allows me to do that. Z's production plant, maybe Alan will know the better.Little bit offset, about parts plants,I heard from my friends in japan that sometimes there is a difference in the same parts sent from different plants. One plants painted the parts black, but other plants made it zinc plate.Even sometimes parts shape is different. Alan, Thank you very much for following up me.The stripe you posted seems to me hand-made look.I guess NISSAN had to prepair really quickly for the motorshow.Mr.Matsuo always told me at that time they were so busy and busy. Thank you, kats

Thank you Jeff, for seeing this thread if I find some interesting page,I will continue to post. Oh yes Alan,I hope so too.But I forgot onething the lady in this manual almost same age as my mother!!The lady must be over 50 years old. By the way how many girls have asked you to let her have a passenger's seat so far?Is the Z attractive for women in the world, is not it? In japan,S30 is recognised as a old car and a little bit wild car,(many japanese owner got fat wheels on it and big exaust pipes making very roud sound)so almost impossible to have a oppotunity to be asked from a lady for a drive. There is a option for japanese Z.The lady in this manual

Thank you so much,Alan! Now I am very very interested in fairlady Z in south africa, could you tell me more of it? And yes,you right. There were so many people buying japanese cars who could not speak or write japanese laungedge not only OKINAWA. I saw a 1969 fairlady Z-L on the ebay a few months ago,it was also bought in japan by militaly officer?then shipped to the U.S. Is there anyone can tell the LHD 240Z in OKINAWA? There must be some people bought S30 at there around 1970. The last photo shows a lady in this manual. I want to see her if possible, and how old is she now? She is beautiful in this manual. Thank you, kats

A hitachi radio with stereo casetto.Mr.MATSUO tryed to apply this for all S30 model but only for japanese Z.NISSAN did not allowed to him to do that due to cost cutting. He made test base by himself,he wanted AM and FM with stereo casetto. You can see number 7,if you want FM,you just install a packege activating for tuning FM like install casetto.

special clock for japanese Z. This clock needs oscilater for its accuracy,if not the time off sets very badly.

This tach makes Z432's owner proud, with its S20 engine. For me,L-24 is the best.(If some one give me Z432,I would love to have!!)

There is no date of print anywhere, but we can see the model must be late 1971 to 1972 S30Z by choke knob and consol design.

Hello everyone, Today I would like to show this one,an owners manual for fairlady Z.This one is something unusual, written in english. I do not know why?fairlady Z is the only one sold in one country, japan.Written in japanese one I have ever saw. Alan, please help me.You can answer this question. I guess this is related OKINAWA prefecture ?There are huge military base in OKINAWA and OKINAWA was under contorl by U.S. after W.W.2.Some officers might buy 240Z at there,of cource LHD.Because in OKINAWA traffic was same as in the U.S. until some around 1975.OKINAWA was resume to JAPAN in may 1972,but traffic was not changed immediately, needs time and money for prepairation for changing everything on the road. Yesterday I was staying at OKINAWA,I was told taxi driver he is 55 years old,"my gland mother did not know the traffic change at that day,she claimed me she waited 2 hours for a bus at the bus stop but she could not catch the bus because she waited opposit side, as she usual did." And I asked him "were japanese cars LHD?"he replyed"YES" So I think LHD 240Z was sold in OKINAWA,is this right? And this english manual for fairlady Z existed for forein country driver? Or just NISSAN well prepaired for possibility driven by westeners in JAPAN? Thank you kats

Hello Alan, Thank you very much for your replying. Now I am clear for side sill trims. And my opinion,HLS30 have both nature of fairlady Z(even some of them Z423R) and ZL.They are mixed into HLS30.(In this thread when I say Z means fairladyZ,the basic model for japanese market price was the lowest Alan sometimes mentions) HLS30's carpet looks like Z-L,But 1969HLS30's rubber mat looks like Z,side sill too,and 1969HLS30 does not have rear glass defogger, this looks like Z.The 240Z showing in the press kit does not have a clock, radio, anntena do have ruuber mat for front floors and I guess on the rear deck. These points look like Z. And Z432R has a beautifull knob for the fuel lid which same as early HLS30 has. Today I show you rubber mats I bought from the U.S. by ebay. These are amco,I sometimes put them in my car but its shape is something different from the ones which I saw in many cars. Are they for 240Z? Thank you, kats

the mat is made very profesional work,is not it?See the triming around edge. But I do not know this is factory original. Hello Marty! Thank you so much for letting me know. The rubber mat I saw on ebay was amco, but slightly looks different from service bulletin's one,I will post tomorrow. Thank you, kats

Alan and 26th-Z, As I see the Nov 1969 service manual(HLS30) and the May 1970 service bulletin(HLS30) and Oct 22nd 1969 press kit,I can see these, #1 May 1970 service bulletin, there is a rubber mat with datsun logo on the drivers front floor,I think this is almost same as japanese rubber mat,the difference is only with logo or without logo. #2 Nov 1969 service manual, there is a rubber mat on the rear deck, also this is formed leather touch surface. #3 but in the manual, the rear deck mat looks different in another page. This mat is very very similar the one is still available in japan, light grey and very short cut pile surface not rubber mat but fabric surface mat.The first service bulletin (Nov1969?)in japan shows this light grey mat. #4 Oct 22nd 1969 press kit,the rear deck mat seems to me made of rubber, the reason is, it is reflecting camera's flash very well, looks rubber. But I am not 100% for sure. #5 I saw a Nov 1969 HLS30(forgot chassis number, 0048X? anyway late 400s)in japan 2years ago, that has rubber mats for rear floor, behind seats(tool lid area) Onething we have to mind, factory manuals is not always true. HLS30's manual sometimes show the japanese Z's photo, viceversa. My guessing,1969 HLS30 has rubber mats for floor front and rear, for the reardeck, rubber mat or light grey mat I do not know. I put a photo of light grey mat which I used to have,I am wondering this is the one which I saw in the service manuals. Thank you, kats

Hi, I want to know one thing, this side sill carpet I bought from Mr.NISHI together my all the interior carpets and jute pads. My march 1970 240Z's side sills are black plastic made. But I saw Mr.WATANABE's dec 1969 fairlady Z432 got carpets for its side sill. Fairlady Zs got carpets for their side sills? How about U.S. and CANADA Zs?Should they get carpets? Or like mine, plastic is original? Thank you, kats

The answer of a photo which I posted last is,the center tunnel jute pad. This was a bonus from Mr.NISHI,I did not expected he present this for me.Now I do not plan to replace center tunnel jute pad, so just keep this for someday. Many of you made coments about dipping the jute into "something special liquid",I do not want to comence that procedure now.Because like many of you mentioned I do not want the jute to be sticky. Mr.NISHI do not know what the liquid shoud be now,but when he find out about it,I will ask him to dip my jute maybe. Thank you, kats
