I spy an orange 280Z parked in a lot on Hwy 45. The exterior looks good, but the interior needs lots of work. Still good to see a survivor here in Mississippi!!!
  4. Thanks for all the input folks. Apparently one of the rims was badly out of balance. He put it on the rear and balanced it and it drives pretty good so far. I am still going to go thru all the front end, bearings, ball joints, etc for peace of mind. Back on the road for now............................
  5. They are the original size tires(195/70/R14). But they are an off brand tire and not Goodyear, etc. He was going to put a different new tire on today and see if that solved the problem. The old tires were not name brand either but may have been a better built tire anyway. I am thinking the new problem came with the new tires too. Thanks guys!! After I get this problem solved I am going to try to charge up my air conditioner and try to get it working. Whew.... it's hot down here!! I will let you know as soon as he gets it solved!!
  6. Thanks tlorber. It tracks down the highway perfectly and doesn't pull to either side when I let go of the steering wheel. I will get him to try switching rear to front, maybe one at a time, to isolate which side is the problem.
  7. Oh, and by the way, with the old tires the steering wheel had just a slight (hardly noticable) shake to it. I would have driven it away from the tire shop with that little bit of shake and been happy.
  8. I have a late 260. I have owned it about 6 months and ran the tires that came on it until hot weather got here. They had just a little cracking showing around the rim so I got new tires. I was leery of a blow out in the 100 degree Ms heat. My tire shop cannot get the frontend to align with the new tires on it. There is a terrible steering wheel shake that starts about 45 mph. He has aligned the front end and spin balanced the tires a couple of times. I have mag rims on it and not original wheels. Today he put new lug nuts on it that were supposed to help center the wheel better on the studs but that didn't help at all. The tie rod ends are all ok and they have been greased as well. Does anyone have suggestions? It is practically undriveable as it is now.
  9. Wow!!!! Looks like it was stored in a time capsule. Congrats on a great find, especially in the South. Enjoy......

Thanks, I plan on getting back on it this weekend. Any tips on where I might find the bushing?

I am having the same problem with my 260 fuel pump. Fuel is leaking out of the port hole. So, do I need a new diaphram for the fuel pump?? I pulled the pump off last night, cleaned it, installed new gasket, and it leaked just as before when I reinstalled it. Thanks for the help.........
  12. My "kid" is 21 and just loves Driving my 260!! My gas gauge doesn't work so the only way I can get him out of it is tell him it's out of gas!!
  13. Thanks, no it's not the 1st oil change in it's history, I hope!! I have owned it a couple of months and just now getting it road worthy. I don't know what oil the previous owner used. Just wanting to get started off right. It is not a daily driver, just weekend fun ride. Thanks again........
  14. I have a 260Z with about 157,000 miles. I am about to change the oil for the first time and need some opinions on oil and filter to use. I live in Ms where the temps in the summer will get up to 100 degrees. Thanks!!
  15. Jeff, thanks. Mine also is missing the rubber bump guards that I see on yours. I know it is missing the rubber spacers between the bumper and body as well. I intend to have it painted one day. I will look at going back to a chrome bumper at that time. Also, the original color is orange. The number is missing off the paint color sticker under the hood. Does anyone know the number for orange?
