  3. I'll let you know if it ever does but the finish should last a life time.

There has to be a way to get the old Skylines in the states. I was lucky and had the military ship mine back. As long it is 25 years or older it's DOT exempt and 23 years or older it's EPA exempt. There was rumor of someone in California that was starting an Asian Sports Car Import business. They were going to specialize in old school Japanese vehicles. I would sell all my Z's to buy one, does anyone have a lead on this? Who is Katy's Nest, I would love to get in touch with the owner of the box and see how he got his? Do you have the website?
  6. Thanks again Vicky :classic:

Like this Stephen: http://www.j-garage.com/nissan/skyline/2000gtr/2000gtr.html.htm I would love to have a Hakosuka and a Ken Meri. Still wish I had my 4 door Hakosuka.... :stupid:
  8. A little late sorry. I hope these will do: The spindle is coated with the chemical bake. You can tell how everything was taped off before it was powdercoated. I need to hit the bearing race with some sand paper and it will come off for a smooth finish. This one I used the top of my trash can for contrast so you can see the detail in the texture. I will have more pics on my web page as the reassembly continues.
  9. It is sprayed on then baked. If you look at picture 013_13A.JPG (on the image station link) that is the before (after sand blasting) and picture 014_12A.JPG shows what it looks like after it's sprayed and baked. I will get some pics up tomorrow as I will be updating my web page too.
  10. It's a process thats not required but does help the metals pores prior to the powder coating being applied. I have some pics of it in the gallery, it's the process after the sandblasting and before the powder coating. The parts look brown. If you can't find them I will get them off the disc and post them directly tonight. I will also take some close ups of that textured look for further inspection.
  11. Correct, plus mine was chemical baked after the final sand blasting to ensure the quality and help add the the life of the coating.
  12. I went back and forth with the same reasoning. Should I prep it and paint it myself, or spent the extra money and get it done and over with for good. I chose that finish because I plan on driving the Z so with the textured finish I don't have to worry about chips or scratches. If I was building it as a show car or trailer queen I would have went more glossy but that is more prone to scratch easier than a textured finish. There are thousands of colors, styles and textures to go with. It comes down to your preference, I plan on keeping her forever, so it's a wise investment. Before my suspension looked awful and had a mixture of 30 year old Ziebart and discolored, faded and missing paint. I will show you pictures once it is all assembled.
  13. 90% of it was masked and plugged, I will let you know how it goes as I go along.
  14. Here is the link to the pics that the powder coater took for me with a disposable camera. I will get better up close pics but it turned out awesome. I did most of the under coating and paint removal before bringing it to him and he took care or the rest. Here we go: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2390495093&code=12898485&mode=invite&DCMP=isc-email-AlbumInvite The final color is a textured black and grey hammer tone, since my Z will be grey with black over fenders when finished. Reassembly will begin this weekend, I'm so excited :classic: :classic:

Good find, I was looking on ebay just yesterday and didn't see one. Is it possible to get a couple of pics of your harness, and where it plugs into the engine bay? I'm curious to see if it's at the same place where a Z goes? If so I'm almost certain one from a Z/ZX will work. Thanks for the lead.

Stephen, I just got back from vacation. I talked to Rob and he said everything arrived, and that the shipping was very quick Thanks. I'm meeting with him today and he's going to pass along the parts list for now. Now that I'm thinking more about it, you don't happen to have the wiring harness for the manual transmission? I wonder where that harness will tie into... We were thinking of going with this under the hood, what do you think?

Stephen, The original radio is gone and a crappy tape player is in there that doesn't even work. The dash was trimmed slightly to fit this radio in there. The plan is maybe a decent radio with XM, but we'll see. The switch for the original power antenna is there, but is frozen too. :stupid: We cleaned the engine bay the other night, it wasn't to bad but did clean up nice. I'll try and get Rob over and take some more pics before I leave for vacation tomorrow.

Good news from my new friend at:http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=78894-W0530&submit.x=12&submit.y=8 and http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=77795-U8700+&submit.x=10&submit.y=6 according to them they have both on hand. What manual do you suggest we purchase i.e. Nissan, Clymer, Haynes, Chilton? I would actually want something like a Nissan manual to reference part numbers in purchasing odd ball items as this. Thanks for the part number reference. I need to update my signature and add the vins as you and Rob have, plus I have a new addition to my minuscule fleet an 03 Honda Insight, my wife's new commuting car, as she commutes nearly 100 miles a day.

Stephen, Sweet, I will let him know first thing this morning, I'm sure whatever your asking we'll take it. Unfortunately, the only documentation we got on it, was the owners manual with nothing written in it. The car lot where we bought it from got it from an auction a year ago, and has been in their possession until selling it to us. Only 400 miles was put on it within the year too. We were told that it came from Arizona but are not sure if that's an accurate statement. I think with the condition of the car, and after cleaning the engine bay last night the mileage is correct. I did take a look at your photo gallery and l do like your 810 and your vanity plate. I wonder if we can still get the Datsun 810 side emblems from Nissan as ours is missing from both sides? This is my Shiro 1988 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 1 of a 1000 made. Read more about it here:http://zhome.com/History/SSZ.htm Here is somemore pics of it on my site:http://240ztt.com/300zxss.html
