original 240Z Part 2 No Flames
I can't believe you closed the thread... I'll start off from page 3 then.... Point well taken. Regardless, whoever buys it knows, or I hope will understand no matter what he/she decides to do with it, it will need a going over. That speaks for any car that sits for a long time no matter the mileage. Not for $^!# sakes but for safety sakes too. Everything that Z needs and with the right mechanic or do-it-yourselfer with patience this would be a perfect fixer-upper over the some weekends. All the parts are still available (that it needs). Afterwards, you can drive, trailor to shows, go to club meetings, cruise, and enjoy what have you. Sure you can drive it, will the brakes stop you, will the clutch depress, or will the original tires go flat, who knows it's a roll of the dice. For $13K, I'm sure most of us our conservatives and others have deep pockets, which ever this Z is for you.

original 240Z for sale
Mike, I know Dan from NOVA and MD Z Club, I believe he paid an arm and a leg for his '71 240Z $16K or more (According to Sports Z Mag). He brought his to Mike McGinnis over at Banzai Motorworks to have it completely gone over. This was just to get it up to par and he spent another $4-5K. I've seen it in Mikes shop a few weeks ago and its now having the whole suspension rebuild and powder coated, probably another grand or two. Dan's Z is a low mileage Z as well but not a low as this one. So he is one to talk about that "people pay way too much" his situation is a great example. To each is own, if you have the bank account the possibilities are endless. Apparently he does. :classic: I appreciate Carl Beck's insight, However, I don't agree with some things he says but his points are well taken. He has been around longer than me doing this. Like I said I have some people serious and I hope for the owners sake that these potential buyers (someone) comes through. People say this Z is the less desirable #1 the color and #2 the carbs but I don't believe every car guy or Z enthusiast feels this so this will be a gem in someones eyes not Carl Becks.

original 240Z for sale
This Z has 8728 original miles. It has no rust, no nothing. 30-year -old cars or Zs for this matter don't acquire anything in this condition. The interior is not even faded. I don't know why your ROFLthat black paint on the air cleaner was from a Nissan service campaign Re-jetting and adjustment of the Flat Tops having vapor lock or hesitation, and or stumbling problems. The dealers painted that on there so if it ever returned the mechanics new the work had been performed. That device is the ARC air conditioning controller. I'm not sure if it was factory or dealer added on a/c. Joe

Well I went to the storage facility and took lots of pics. Unfortunately, the rear brakes where locked and there was another car in the way so I couldn't move it out and take better pics. As I was told from the owner it was bought from Bob Tedd Datsun in Fairfax, Virginia it has been in the area all its life, and in storage all it's life. According to the gentlemen that is storing and watching the car over the past 12 years he says it has hardly ever been in the sunlight, it has a few dings on the side and in the drivers side rear quarter by the tail light and the front bumper but this Z is an absolute time capsule. Obviously, I was only able to take pics of 3 out of the 4 sides and because it is in a sea-land container, the light was not very good. I took many pics but in it's current location they didn't give the Z do justice, you have to see it in person to believe what a true treasure it is. The owner put the Z in my hands to make sure it gets a good home. I want to let our Z community know about it first before releasing it on the open market. However, before knowing the owner he almost had it sold to a teenager but the insurance killed the kid so the deal never went through, thank goodness or this Z may have been a loss cause. I would like to add, please pass the word around the Z car community. I will try and answer your questions to the best of my ability but this car has no history, hidden past other than it is a 30-year-old new car. All original no rust no nothing other than the few dings as listed above. If you’re wondering about the steering column, the ignition was replaced but the plastic was not put back on. I will try and find out why, if someone inquires. Here is the link: Original 240Z Thanks, Joe
