  1. I've now located some new OEM ones. Still waiting on info about having some made though.
  2. ETA, The main reason is that a 240z is one of my dream cars, I've also always wanted AP calipers, so i'd put the two together!
  3. In no order. history, quality, looks, fit, details, colour, weight. The thing that really did it was that their such a proven caliper in all situations. Look a little more correct also.
  4. to show i've not gone crazy. This is how the caliper looks behind the wheel. IMG_4734 by jason spencer, on Flickr quite subtle I think.
  5. Thats the problem I had. a lot of 'bling' looking setups about, mostly the same as each other. I wanted something that'd suit a bit more.
  6. As a small update, the cars away again having the paint sorted. Had to blast the engine bay back to bare metal..... While its out of the garage I've started on bits that should speed up getting it rolling. I made a bearing guide on the lathe to support the control arm after bending one myself. Took just over 8 tonnes to press it in! IMG_4705 by jason spencer, on Flickr I had a load of stuff plated. IMG_4701 by jason spencer, on Flickr Took some advice and just gave a tub full to a company, who cleaned and yellow zinc coated it. Great work and surprisingly cheap. Saved me a couple of days work also. I know the bonnet supports should be body colour but I don't like how the paint can rub off. IMG_4696 by jason spencer, on Flickr Finally made my mind up about calipers. It was helped by the fact the replica mk63's aren't being made any more. 1.8kg vs 4kg. The should look very subtle behind the wheels. I'm going to run 280x25mm discs. I'd like discs and bells but the budget won't allow for now, however I think i've found a disc I can use by just redrilling. I'm going to buy the cheapest version I can as a test(£25ish), then go for a quality version once I know I can measure correctly. Just to compound things. A replacement rear arm i've got has damage/bend and seems to be a couple of mm out so I need an arm again. I'd like to get all the chassis parts ready to bolt on(ish), when I get the shell back.
  7. me neither. current thinking is to buy some 70sha bar, machine the bushings, then with a large washer, bond a disc of 70sha poly to it using silka flex, creating the exact same setup out of 70sha?
  8. it never rains!! I think thats an easier fix though.
  9. I'm looking to see if you can get those washers also?
  10. Interesting. I've got this company on the case for us. http://robush.com/
  11. I've thought about those points, the lower shore polybush is an easier fix, most are about 85sha, going for 70 is about 20% softer and comparable to a metalastic arrangement(nominal). I've got a couple of UK companies looking into it for, to to replicate the oem one. Might have to be a 'group buy' as I might not need 40odd kits myself
  12. No I know theres a thread! So whats your thoughts on going for something like 70Sha poly bushing?
  13. Thank you Captain. I wasn't aware of that thread!
  14. I did email and had the same response. I'm looking for alternatives. I could get some lower hardness poly bush ones made, thats one option. The other is looking for something like this http://www.fibet.co.uk/perch/resources/flanged-headed-bush-fbf.pdf I really need accurate measurements of standard ones though, that'd be a massive help.
  15. Hi, looking for some oem type moustache bar bushings. Part number is 55476-n4300. Thanks.
  16. you should have been asked when you ordered. Just makes it easier for setup as everyone seems to have webber jets.
  17. thats lovely work you've done on those bits Mr Obvious.
  18. have you got the version that take webber jets?
  19. 270$ for 100$ worth of nuts and bolts? There's no flange headed bolts, they're all stainless(which doesn't appeal). I think we can put together a better resource with the correct nuts+bolts.
  20. Hi - I've also put this on the UK z-club forum. I can't seem to find a comprehensive nut and bolt list I know the size is in the FSM manual, but the length and full/part threaded isn't. If we all measure our nuts and bolts, we could produce a definitive list under each section. That way we can build up a useful document? Ie Body wing to body bolts m8x25 Chassis Spindle pin nuts m12x1.25
  21. Hi Kats, Yes I did. Its always good to talk about cars and have a coffee/beer. I've got some spindle pins being made, when I go to collect I'll show the shop the video's and can ask if they'd be interested in making a small batch if you'd like? Lovely to hear the twin idler gear. its a great noise.
  22. That is Nuts. I use a small engineering shop who only make prototype runs, (small batch engineering is how they formed their name!). I'm not in the enviable to need them, just if it would help yourself. They're going to make a set of spindle pins and little bits for me.
  23. Hi Is it a slip collar? Have you a pic from the other side? I'm going to see Alan for a coffee in the next week or so, i'll ask if he's got one I can look at/borrow to take to a local machine shop to see what they say about making a batch, if that would help and its ok with Alan?
  24. Its a strange one, I can see the value in rare parts, however the glass I can't. Not unless you've a 432 etc.
  25. you could make them at home with a lathe. if you're anything like me it'll take about a week per nut. Or take them to a local machine shop and it'll take a couple of hours for a set!
