So I was cleaning my sensors bc my car is running a little rich and my temperature sensor switch the one with the 2 wires connected to it one is te ground and the other is connected to another wire and the ground wire broke off totally from the tip of the switch. I researched to buy a new one and it looks like no one have those anymore. Can I run without it grounded or is there any suggestion you guys have? Please I need help. My car is a 76 280z
  3. Yeah ive driven the car forprobably another 50 miles. I've been busy with the holiday and all that but I will post back tommorrow when I start troubleshooting some more. I spent most my time reasearching and reading the fsm
  4. Thanks for the reply. But the problem is my plugs are foul and my oil smells like gas. Been trouble shooting for a few days now. So I'm just trying to make it run less rich at the moment. But I've been searching up all of the suggestions from everybody and trouble shooting it. Thanks people
  5. ok so i did a wet comp test on cylinder 1-3 bc thats all the oil i had for it. i warmed up the car made sure it i had it at wot and put a few drops of oil in and comp only raised about 10 psi on each cylinder. my compression was 125 120 130 125 125 125. with wet i had 135 130 140 on the first 3. so what you guys think? bad? or not to bad? thanks in advance
  6. OK thanks guys you guys made me feel a lot better I will try the wet comp test and let you guys know what's the deal. Then I'll have to look up how to do a valve adjustment... Is it hard? Sounds hard never done one before.. I'll look up All the running rich stuff and post back on what I encounter. Thanks again
  7. Head gasket would make me feel better.. But would that cause gas to get into oil? I think I'm running rich bc there is a strong fuel smell sometimes. And wouldn't a crack headgasket leak coolant into the oil? Thanks for the respond
  8. Ok well I just ordered a new slave cylinder.. But got some bad news guys. I pulled my plugs to do a compression test and they were all foul. This explains the fuel smell in my oil. I Also did an oil change and drive the at for about 50 miles and oil starting to smell like gas again. I did a compression test and got 125 give or take a 5 on all cylinder. That's fairly low... My exhaust was blowing out white smoke after a fresh oil change but after 5 mins of doing it it stopped and doesn't do it at all anymore. Now it only blows out black smoke if I really give it gas. Plus when I'm at wot it stumbles. Probably due to plugs being foul.. So what you guys think. Bad rings??
  9. it was a leaking slave cylinder. thanks guys for all your help. but why do you need to replace both slave and master at once?
  10. i added some brake fluid and pumped the clutch but the fluid is not getting pumped into the line.. so is my master out? or do i just need to bleed out the system. and also where is this FSM that i could download?
  11. I checked the fluid like you ask and found out there is none in the clutch master cylinder and there is a spot of what seem to be oil but it's clear on the floor so I'm thinking that it's leaking... Is the furthest one to the driver side with one bottle? And the leak seems to be coming from near the transmission...
  12. An you help me through the process of how to check for leakage? Bc I can see that there is a little oil an it's clear and thin coming what it looks like from the tranny but havenot lifted the car to see exactly where its coming from
  13. It will start in neutral and in gear but will move te car in gear.. Hydraulics are Tu? What does that mean. And how would I fix this problem
  14. well my clutch seems to be stuck because the pedal is real loose with no pressure and i can start the car without depressing on the clutch. anyway to fix this without going into the tranny?
  15. just picked up a 280z it. it was restored and was the last owner daily driver for about a month before he sold it to me. i drove home with it 2 hrs fine and he had to drive 2 hrs to that location so the z went through a total of hrs of driving. the next day i get into my car and my clutch was real loose like there was no pressure there. i start the car but cant put it into gear. so i shut it off and started the car without depressing the clutch pedal and it started so im thinking i have a stuck clutch! anyway to free this? without going into tranny and all that. and also i have a strong gas smell from the oil. and my dipstick isnt showing that there is oil in the car so i put in a quart of oil and still not showing.. going to change oil soon and do a compression test and hopefully my rings are not bad. any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!
