  1. Picked up an 83' 5 speed and 3.90 rear end a couple months ago. Got the rear end blasted and rear painted with the diff cover clear. The trans was painted black, blasted that and am going to clear over the aluminum.
  2. Thanks. I pulled the spindles out of my 240 before and I remember thinking "How the hell am I going to do this?". Two things are allowing this project to go so quickly. Having enough money saved up so I don't have to wait on ordering parts, and having friends and family help me. Without those two I'd still be in the beginning stages. It's crazy how much you can get down when you have 4 people working on it at once.
  3. I spent a lot of hours over the weekend behind the sand blaster, nothing fun about it, but it has to get done.
  4. The parts not being powder coated have their 1st layer of primer. Front air dam came in.
  5. More progress being made. Got the seat skins in, they look great! Can't wait to get them to the upholstery to see the final product. Got the rear bumper filler off to get it ready for the 240 bumpers. The suspension and fuel/brake lines has been completely dropped, disassembled and primed. I dropped the brackets and control arms off at the powder coat shop to get coated black. Hopefully they'll be done this week so I can reassemble them this weekend. Spindles are kicking my butt still, I cut them into pieces to separate the control arm, still need to get them hammered out from the strut assemble. Fenders primed and welded in the emblem holes, with some grinding and bondo over them. Made another big parts purchase, ordered the 240 bumpers front and rear and a bunch of things from Autozone.
  6. I didn't even think about a nut and bolt. Easy fix. Thanks!
  7. I'm in the middle of a restoration on my 280. I noticed my brake lights were always on. The plastic washer that is located on the brake pedal that keeps the brake light switch engaged was cracked and broken. Does anyone know where I can purchase this small plastic washer? I've looked around, but no luck so far. Thanks!
  8. Does anyone have any opinions or experiences with the triangular rear strut brace? A setup like this. TOP END 280Z Rear Strut Tower Braces | eBay
  9. Got the battery tray cut out and removed the remaining tray that's pictured. Hopefully get it too my sheet metal guy in the next 2 days to see what he can do.
  10. Thanks! I'll bookmark it now.
  11. Awesome thread. I'm in the middle of a rebuild too. Who makes this header? I'm going to need to pick one up soon. It looks like a pretty beefy one.

The best thing I can suggest is google image Datsun Z and scroll through all the pictures to figure out what you like and go from there.

ebay has one for $69.99 plus $5 shipping
  14. Tonight I ordered black seat skins with the embroidered "Z" on the head rest with matching e-brake/ shift boot. I'm switching the interior to black so here's the first step. Making progress!!!
  15. Yeah, I'm a little concerned on how they'll actually bolt up. Hopefully I'll get them mocked up soon to see how they fit.
  16. Heads up guys. Amazon says they have 6 Tokico HZ3013 HP Rear struts left. This might be the only performance struts we can get for awhile. Andy's Motorsports has KYB GR2's which are suppose to be the performance KYB strut, haven't seen any reviews on them though.
  17. Got the fenders in today. Don't have a chance to check them out, but my Dad sent me a picture. He said they look great. No OEM Nissan sticker on them, so I'm assuming they are aftermarket. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/ResizedImage951376945489712.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/ResizedImage951376945489712.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo ResizedImage951376945489712.jpg"/></a>
  18. I got them off Amazon which said they had 8 left. Hopefully the website wasn't lying. If it was, I'm not sure what I'll do.
  19. It was sand blasted before the paint. The sand blaster has been running pretty constant so far.
  20. I ordered them from Black Dragon Auto. Nissan wanted $770 something out the door and Black Dragon was $500 something. They come in today, I'll let you know how they look and if they are OEM.

  22. Good catch, all just typos in my post. I did double check my order though, I ordered 4 rears, so I'm good. They should be at my door Thursday. Thanks again!
  23. Ordered the front air dam, Ebach lowering springs, Tokico HP shocks, master bushing kit, and MSA sway bar kit. Getting things ready so I'll be able to tackle the suspension soon. Making some killer progress on the body. The hood is looking good. I'll need to prime it again to do a final check. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5470.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5470.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5470.jpg"/></a> Headlight buckets are all done, they just needed a little work. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5471.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5471.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5471.jpg"/></a> One of the doors has some rust holes on the bottom so got a patch panel made for it. Got that welded on and started getting it ready for bondo. Couldn't ask for it to come out any better. Here's the patch. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5497.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5497.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5497.jpg"/></a> And welded on. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5501.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5501.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5501.jpg"/></a> Started working on the rear quarter. It's still going to need more work. It took a good beating some point in it's life. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5533.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5533.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5533.jpg"/></a> Something else that I'm pretty excited about is the air cleaner housing. My dad surprised me and blasted it and painted it for me. It came out great. It's really going to make the engine compartment pop! I was going to go with some sort of aftermarket intake, but I think this stock intake with a good air filter will work just as well and look even better. Before the clear coat. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5495.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5495.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5495.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5496.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5496.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5496.jpg"/></a> With the clear this thing screams! Can't wait to see it in the car. <a href="http://s254.photobucket.com/user/taillonml/media/IMG_5498.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh101/taillonml/IMG_5498.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_5498.jpg"/></a>
  24. Good info! I just ordered 4 front HP's from Amazon and Ebach lowering springs from MSA.
  25. I tried ebay and Amazon, I could get the front Tokico HP's for the rear, but not the front. I'd take either the HP's or the illuminas.
