  1. I am a research equipment machinist/fabricator at University of Toronto. I plan on taking advantage of the free education. :classic: Ahmed.
  2. I think it would look better on a 240sx or 280zx then a 240z.
  3. I guess your right from what I know some of the british car tooling for components were bought over by individuals as scrap and production was resumed. Do you guys know if the tooling is still around for the zed car. Most of the components look like they were made by Hitachi. I was just wondering but are zed parts more widely available in Japan then they are here in North America or Australia. Is there a better network of zed parts retailers there then there are here. Ahmed
  4. Thats why I feel envious for the American or British classic car Industry. Man I wish Nissan/ Toyota/Mazda/Honda would have as much pride and responsibility, as Ford GM or even chrysler to maintian their heritage. The Classic Japanese car niche in my opinion will never attain the recognition or respect it deserves for being a true classic, until an industry is established. No one wants to go hunting around for parts that don't exist or are priced well beyond there true value. Come on Nissan back your heritage up. unless Nissan steps up and takes responsibility and invests in NOS parts. The zed will be just another car that is a "sort of classic" That cost way to much for the amount of recognition it gets. It would be awsome if all the Major Japanese car manufacturers got together and started a common heritage product line. What if Nissan brought back there NOS parts under the Datsun brand.

I went to the Drift Nation show down at Mosport park this passed sunday. The show was featuring the Signal team as well as Drift Extreme. Sadly they ran it on the oval course instead of the go cart track. There are only so many moves you can do. The highlight of the show happened half way thru. Team signal had there famous 1000hp R34 Skyline sitting on display in the pits. The whole crowd in the stands started to chant "Skyline" for a very long 10 Minutes, drowning out the announcer. So the Signal guys relented and brought out the beast for a few very quick laps. Damned that thing is fast. I have to rank the RB26DETT at full song, one of the most intense and viceral sounds, I have ever heard. I would put it up there with the Panoz LMP cars. The rest of the show was pretty dull in comparison. The Signal team to me brought alot more skill then the Drift Extreme guys, who BTW distroyed two of there cars. I liken professional Drifters to Circus performers that wow and dazzle the crowd with there supernatural abilities. http://www.signalauto.com/4_24R34COVER.jpg Ahmed

Hi The polyurethane airdam would be more resilient and less prone to cracking if you were to bump something. important if your car is low in the front. from what I know the middle of the urethane dams droop so you would have to fabricate a support to hold it up. It would be awsome if someone made the BRE type "spook" in urethane, as well as the ZG flares, instead of fiberglass.
  10. I think this comes back to the whole argument about "which market it was designed for" I wouldn't be surprised if they originally made a right hand version, and used it for the left hand side as well to save cost. I have a 1970 240z, unfortunatly the previous owner removed it a long time ago. So I can't help you ID it.

Just wondering but what part of your car are you using this 1/4"drive set for. It is good for removing interior trim and such. But, when it comes to underhood, or undercar, repair work you might want to look at getting the 3/8"or 1/2" drive sets I like the Mastercraft Professional tools that crappy (Canadian) tire sells. They have a lifetime warranty, and I was really impressed with the quality/fit/finish of there tools. Does anybody know who they are made by. BTW What is it with these companies that sell there sets in either standard, standard and metric, but not metric alone. :disappoin

  13. "Or build a modified Z with similar performance for 1/4 the cost!" I guess that's the conclusion that we all came to and thats why we all have zeds instead. Hey what do you guys think of the mechanical layout of the 911? Do you think the rear engine layout is restricting to the development of the car? I'd hate to be the one designing the 911 at porsche you would have to always keep it retro, but somehow try to keep it fresh and competitive, without being different.

Man, imagine if they made a "Legends of motorsport"or even a "Victory by design" show on the Prince/Datsun. but we all know how it will never happen
  15. You have to admit the 911 model was never a show stopper when it came to interiors. I would rather have the engineers spend the funding on the performance of the car. They were always very raw, minimalistic and purposeful interiors. Afterall would you drive a 911 for its coziness or for its performance.bacause if its luxury your after maybe you belong in the Cayenne. I think it would be great if porsche made a Limited Club Racer that was a stripped down base model 911 much like the GT3 but with the lowest cost of the lineup. Perhaps it could have an emphasis on handling and weight but not necessarily the monster power. I think it would definitly bolster the racing heritage that seems to be waining Just a thought Ahmed.
  16. The Cayenne SUV makes up 2/3 of Porsche's North American sales. All I was saying is that the New 911, in my opinion, is not a radical enough car to warrant a new 997 designation. I understand that the basic layout/shape of the 911 is querky and difficult to shape. but I also think a client who is willing to pay well over a hundread thousand for a car deserves more then just an update. Am I the only one who thinks that Porsche is very secretly owned by VW.
  17. Hi I dont wanna be a d*ck or anything, but the new 911 looks like an update rather then an actual new car. Look at the difference between the older versions, like the 996 and 995, or even the 995 and 994. It looks like it was designed back in 1998. I don't think porsche pushed the envelope far enough. Anyway thats my opinion. Do you think it has something to do with Porsche's shift from a sports car company to an SUV company.

From where I am the insurance rates go up so much that it is more cost effective to not report the claim and just to do the repair alone. The insurance goes up for the claiment reguardless of whos at fault Do your homework and make sure you dont fall into a trap.

  22. I miss understood where the speed star was written. Well there goes my theory out the window in a hurry. I am also interested in this SSR and Watanabe association Maybe Alan the "all knowing z guy" can shine some light. Ahem, Ahem, Alan!
  23. I am not sure who the rims are made by but the three birds in a circle are definitly Watanabe. May be the rim has been replaced/repaired with SSR parts. Does the rim look like it was refinished or is there an inconsitency in the wear of the rim and the face.(does the rim look newer) can you take a picture that shows the three bird crest more clearly I just went to the SSR site and It seems they still sell their old school wheels. Definitly an option when I get around to buying new wheels.
