I have nothing against the the 350z. It is a great car that has been designed very well for the American market. Personally I would have liked the 350z to have been a smaller leaner and more nimble car with a smaller more spirited engine. I think the first gen miata or the s2000 were the last of the no gimicks all out sportscars ever made. for this reason i would probably never buy a 300zx or a 350z(x). Then again, Nissan obviously did not design this car to attract my demographic. If i was looking for a similar car to the 350z I would probably buy the G35 coupe as I feel it fits the niche better. 5. Hi EScanlon Thanks for the reply I was only 18 when I replaced the quarters so did not have alot of experience. however I did but weld all the seems. It would be alot different if I was doing it now Can you tell me if the gas door sits flush against the rest of the quarter. if not how much does it stick out. Thanks Ahmed
  6. Hey do you guys have any experience with the fit and finish of the aftermarket quarter panels. I replaced both my quarters way back when I was in high school. I have been trying recently to complete the assembly of the car. I have noticed that the quarter panel flange, that the door buts up against is not as deep as it should be so the gas door sticks out say 1/16-1/8" Also the door gap is about 1/2 an inch wide at the latches. do you guys know what size the gap should be. I am afraid I might have to cut and extend the quarter panel where the door is. BTW The car has already been painted and is ready for assembly.

There should be a very severe penalty for DUI. He will probably get a pat on the wrists and be let out of jail. Ready to kill someone else. Ahmed
  9. The subaru's generally use the r160 or r180 differential. I have heard that some of the higher output models (wrx) used an r200. (read bigbucks) I have never heard of anyone actually attempting it. you would be breaking new ground. please document the conversion. Thanx Ahmed

Hi I am a student/worker in my colleges tool and die program. Well, me my boss and another coworker/freind where sitting around thinking of a new project. And we decided on a few english wheels. we are presently making the rollers. we are going to harden them and then cylindrically grind them to the right profile. we need a few recommendations for the profiles of the interchangable rolers. is it possible to use the same setup for a bead roller. Thanks Ahmed

Hey did you guys see the Monster Garage, where they turned a Peterbuilt into a trike. I was wondering if anyone had anymore info on the "Blastolene special" I have been to the web site but would like more on the build, apparently it took them a year to build. blastolene special.bmp

I have used the silica type of abrasive at school in Autobody/restoration class it works pretty good for surface rust, but any scaling, and it just takes to long. The Blaster I used was a portable recycling type. The gun had a vacuum attachment with a brush bristle seal that would seal around the gun/material and suck the sprayed abrasive back into the guns filtered hopper. I was very impressed with its versatility. You have to be very careful with the silica as it is harmful. In some areas it is actually classed as a "controlled substance". You can only buy it here in Toronto if you have a licence (or if you know a bodyshop:). Ahmed BTW does the playsand still give you the dust cloud I would think that because of its large grain size it would mist less.

Hi Just for a little background I started my 240Z restoration as a high school project in autobody/restoration class three years ago. I have had my engine sitting at my high school. since I started my extended restoration. My brother and I decided to finally bring it home this morning. So we went to rent a van When we got there, Budget only had one van available. And there was another person, Kevin Taylor who wanted the van for a whole day. We decided together that if he gave us a hand for an hour we would pay for half of his rental fee. We where lifting the motor into the cube van and I guess one of the wheels on the engine stand snagged on the lip of the flatbed. and fell over. And kevin, I guess from reflexes went to grab it. The 1 inch vent tube that sticks out from the side of the block landed square on his middle finger. The pipe basicly severed his finger. His wife was told that he might loose it. not good if your a carpenter. We did basicly get the engine home. Because his employees needed the van. but every time I see it I feel uneasy. Kevin was just being a good samaritan and he got hurt for no reason. I can't describe how sorry I am. Just thought I should share. Thanks Ahmed

Hey Kerrigan "My '71 Fairlady Z has an L20 inline-6 ... did they also come with the 2400cc engine? It has a factory 5-speed which uses the same driveline as the Roadster. Did the Roadster have a 5-speed?" From what I know all the 1971 zeds imported into north America where HLS30 models and factory equipped with the 2400cc engine and 4speed transmission. The 5 spd was a sports option part and could be purchased from the dealer. I have a feeling it might be an import from a different market. Because if it isn't, and everything is stock, you might have a special car. BTW-The North American roadster came with the 5spd from 1967 A few Fairlady zeds where imported into the US by officers positioned in Japan, but would obviously be right hand drive. Hope I helped. Hi all I have seen a few engine stands that hold the L6 engine from the side. I would like to mount my engine this way for ease of rebuilding, and the fact that the weight is distributed more evenly. I just got a standard engine stand, and would like to make an adaptor plate out of some half inch stock. I was wondering which mounting holes on the side of the egine to use. Thanks Ahmed

THE THING THAT REALLY GOT ME WAS IT HAD ONE OF THOSE BIG ALUMINUM WINGS ON THE TRUNK LID. EXCEPT! IT WAS BOLTED ON BACKWORDS.
