For 170$ or so for jdm's, you did real good, it will make your 280 Z to stand from the run of the mill , the 240 Z euro/jdm are commanding real crazy $$$ . ALOHA

Here is my added no value to this thread, the original steering wheel was made of a composite hard plastic that simulated wood . It did not match the color of the real wood knob. The Z skinny steering wheel had no grip at all, I had them on my former 510 and Z but it was the first mod done along with cutting the truck like stick shift. IMO the wood knob is a nice classy touch on a vintage GT if it matches the steering wheel, Nardi made them and are still around but the "purist''will not touch them. I rather have a nice grip on both and mine are leather cover Momo's.

Mine was more acute on reverse and if I hammer her , the clonk was there, after the magical weld no more clonk and I drive her hard at times, she likes it and she was overbuilt to take it . Metal fatigue , that mount is 40 yrs old ( well most of it , there was a mod made for the Q45 diff) , I have secure a spare just in case

  14. Zed Head, just passing info on what I thought that it could work , good luck on the repair, these oldies some times require the extra care given by their caretakers , I at times feel lucky that most of my ''FrankeinZ'' drivetrain is current GM bits..............

I have a 6 layer cover and as above , after rain I end up washing it , so it seems as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle

I have 2 in 1, the Classic lines of an iconic vintage Japanese Sport Car and the drivetrain from an iconic modern American Sport Car . Best of both worlds, looks that create envy, plus power-reliability-ease of maintenance and she gets 30 MPG

Yes they were very popular on Z's, Camaro's, Mustang's,Javelin's,Challenger's,Malibu's,Torino's, and almost any car from the late 60's to early 70's. My former Z had them and seems that most Cali Z's that I looked during my first hunt had them. I rather have a less popular look and add a little personality
