  1. Just how difficult is removing the automatic and installing a 5 speed tranny? Will the stock diff mated with the auto work Ok with the 5 speed?

Bought my first Z, a '73 with 28000 miles in 1975, Silver, 4 speed, slotted mags, I installed Marshal SEV's and Muholland shocks- paid $4200.00. Car was great. The seller also gave me the stock wheels, tires, hubcaps and 2 snow tires/steel wheels. had vapor lock issues in the summer. Car eventually rusted away, huge 8" hole in the driver side floor! Traded it on a 78 280 with a 5 speed, light blue with louvers, paid $10,800.00 and got $1800.00 for the 240. A great GT, A/c and that 5 speed was super. Three years later, got hit by a drunk driver and the car was a total loss- luckily I was not hurt but the drunk was. Then bought a used 79 two tone silver blue ZX which developed electrical problems. This is a great forum and I'm happy to see so many Z Car fans!:classic: I think I'll be getting back into a Z, the ideal situation, a 240 with a 280 five speed. Any thoughts or comments most welcome.

Hi folks, I've owned three Z cars, a 73 240, 78 280 and a 79ZX, all manual transmissions. Loved the cars, my nickname back in the 70's was "Z-Chuck". Had some of the best times in my life with those cars. I'd like to get back into a 280 Z and that's why I'm here.
