  1. Thanks Mr C. I'll look inot it. But this problem will come up again when I replace the stock air box with a couple of aftermarket air filters. What do I do then? My compliance plate has always been there, as far as I know. It's a '72 model.
  2. Thanks Cuong. That sounds to be about right. My rego also says 'sedan' btw. Oh the competence of government bodies. Now, if someone from NSW could check their rego papers please. My thoughts are; >The NSW RTA system has the wrong Tare Weight. This is possible if the figures are entered automatically in reference to car makes and models. or >The Tare Weight is entered manually and they made a mistake when filling out mine. Cheers
  3. Can someone with a 240Z in Australia (NSW would be even better) please check their rego papers and tell me what the 'Tare Weight' is listed as. I think mine might be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time the RTA stuffed something up though. After coming off my license suspension they gave me a Gold license which you need a clean record for. :stupid: Please check rego papers though, I can't use guesses. Mine is listed as 1620 which looks very wrong. Also, what's the correct definition of 'Tare weight'? Is it car + full tank + driver or just car + full tank. Cheers
  4. It might help if you state the car model. I'd say there is no seperate switch. Check the dimmer (?). If that fails check your fuse. If that fails, take it to an electrician to check your wiring. Cheers
  5. I see, thanks halz. Still on the hunt for a car mate? I'd have given up by now. I envy your dedication.

  7. In respect to 1 Bravo 6's "Precious" What is your cars' name? I don't have one yet for my Z. She has yet to earn a name.
  8. So it is Carlos then. The rally car (the one you he's spent $100,000 on) he has has seen better days btw. He offered it to me for $40,000 and I had to exercise lots of self control to keep myself from laughing.
  9. Just curious what everyones home page is. Please post links to make it interesting. Mine was Google up until recently. Now I've gone back to an old favourite How Stuff Works. This site should be used on an almost daily basis by everyone. You learn a tonne of things and well presented explanations are easy to pick up by the simplest of minds (read: me):cheeky: The Auto section is fantastic!
  10. Do you have pics Carl? ------------ Damage doesn't seem that bad but if you are the owner it's awful.
  11. Damn! That is over the top. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just order it direct from Nissan? (rhetorical ?)
  12. The stock camshaft of a 240Z
  13. Finally, I have a question. What is this lever type thing? Thanks
  14. The Pipercross breather I just fitted. Threw out the hose and plugged the adaptor on the airbox.
  15. Under my battery. I think I'm going to treat this before it gets worse. There isn't any rust but surface rust is evident. I've also got some surface rust under the spare tyre so I'll get them in one go one of these weekends.
  16. It's Sunday and that usually means play with the car day. Today I took the rocker cover off to inspect the gasket as it was leaking some oil in a couple of corners. First thing I noticed was the bolts were loose (the handiwork of the gasket over time) and thought 'ok, the oil leak could be due to the loose bolts'. Having a look at the gasket reinforced my initial thoughts about the bolts as it was still rubbery and not really worn out besides one corner where there was no leak anyway. After having a good look around and taking some pics I put the rocker back and tightened them a little. I guess I'll know next week (I only drive my car on weekends) if the leak is actually due to loose bolts.
  17. Umm, dad, leave my carbs alone! I'd change the fuel filter. If that doesn't work take it back to the mechanic as he did play around with the fuel system. Goodluck.
  18. Hey Lachlan, what was the mechanic doing to your car exactly? If it was there getting a service among other things and he missed the fuel filter then I'd start looking for another mechanic. Most good mechanics would do a quick check of general servicable condition, some out of good nature while others trying to charge you more. Last time someone fixed my car (tuning my computer in my previous car) it ran ok for a day and then I got stuck with a further $1000 bill getting their work fixed. I fought it, lost and in the process made myself heard in the Skylines community. What they lost in potential customers after that incident was more than $1000. Should have just paid my bill in the first place. edit: point is, don't take s**t if you know you got ripped off
  19. Alfadog, if I own the car long enough I'd change my fuel filter with every second service so for me that ends up being 10,000 miles (16,000km) Just on the topic, my friend who has a worked Torana has been having fuel starvation problems recently and he has checked everything and I mean everything to do with the fuel. After it all his mechanic found that his new fuel filter (?) had some rubber ring lodged somewhere preventing propper flow. Bummer about your car but at least it's not a major problem.
  20. Speaking of Onion drinks, I was at the Food Fair here in Sydney about a year ago and there was a Japanese stand that had Onion Juice. I tested some and it was actually nice. I bought a 1L bottle only and have never seen a distributor since. btw, I'm a big big fan of the onion family.
  21. Welcome to the club:classic: Nice Z you have there. Is that a cowl induction I see?
  22. Yeah that's it. You've got a few? Heck, I've never even seen oneROFL umm, seriously, I've never seen an ashtray:disappoin Would you have one in good condition? I actually did find one new one (ordered by someone else though so I can't buy it) and a second hand one which I'm going to look at next week. Thanks for the offer though, that was mighty nice of you. :classic: Cheers
