  1. Joseph, and all, I like to sit on the fence with this one. I think that buying a half decent car is the way to go. With these old cars there's always something to be improved so no matter how much you spend you can spend a bit more. I don't think you could buy a car that you are completely 100% happy with (even if it's just rolled off the showroom floor) so no matter how much you spend, be it a heap of s**t or a nice example, you will always have the pleasure of tweaking it. cheers
  2. Make that Aussie race the Targa:classic:
  3. I'm looking for an ashtray in very good condition. Anyone? I've got Nissan trying to locate one from Japan but it would cost AU$135 (new obviously) Ok, so some of you are looking at me like I'm crazy. I'm not really... ...no really I'm not :paranoid: Ok, so I have to ask, am I paying way too much and should I practise some patience 'cause one will come along in good nick? Cheers
  4. WOW! Very nice site. Good work.
  5. Congratulations Hawkwind. Hope your new car is what you were after. I'm interested to hear where this guy that loves his Z's is with 4 for sale and 30 wrecks? It wouldn't be Sportsclassic would it? Cheers
  6. Thanks Brett, and thanks guys.:classic:
  7. Ha ha, no offence taken mate. I'm just mucking around. I'm in a weird mood for some reason. Honestly though if I did have the money I doubt I'll spend it on this. More likely buy a nice '67 Fastback. Roadsters aren't my thing.
  8. Some crazy Japanese tune houses ay. Have you heard of Mario GTR from Sydney Ivan. http://exvitermini.com/ He was going for the world record 4wd qtr mile for a while there but he's gone quiet of late. How about taking on the HKS team at their own game. Crazy. Good luck to him either way.
  9. Yeah you got it spot on there... 2.5L straight 6 with a turbo
  10. Anyone have coilovers? What's the widest tyres you can fit? cheers
  11. Well I like it. Stuff you guys:disappoin I'm taking my ball and going home...
  12. I've noticed that Z's don't have much clearance in the rear for wide tyres. Maximum looks like 215's. Does this sound right? How do people overcome traction problems with high power Z's without chopping the chassis? Cheers
  13. "Show us yer tits" umm, yeah Not what they used to be but still fun I gather from what my friends have told me. Have missed the last 4 due to the wanker factor. Planning on going for one day next year. The Supernats are getting bigger crowds every year and some nice cars turned up last year. I walked in at midday just as Victor Bray was tearing the strip down in his '57 chev. MY GOD is this machine loud or what? Crowd went crazy and deaf at the same time. Some fine examples of XY GT's (one really nice candy apple red, yumm), Muzzy's aplenty, a Datto ute that lifted 90deg (I $^!# you not the driver was looking into the sky, nearly flipped so he was disqualified from running again), lowest pass was a high 7 by some black torana (forget which). Oh and the women! I didn't know where to look. You've got a show Muzzy on the left and a classy girl with short shorts (it was over 30deg last year) on the right. Sensory overload. Some really classy girls go to the Supernats, not like what I've seen at the Summernats unfortunately. And you don't get the "Show us yer tits" crowd which is fantastic. No alcohol = no wankers. Highlight of my day had to be meeting Gary Myers, getting his signiture on a big poster, getting a close look at the car and witnessing "THE KING" absolutely destroy the bitumen with the biggest burnout I've ever seen. Unbfrickingbelievable. http://www.supernats.com.au
  14. ...oh and I've been to Wollongong once too. The second time I set out to go my alternator died the night before. Lucky it didn't leave me stranded on the freeway.
  15. Hey man, no need to be sorry. It's all good.:classic: So when does the second half of your engine go in?
  16. Steve, that sounds like an excellent drive. Hope you had fun and your mind wasn't on the reliability issue all the time. Longest drive I've had in my Z was up to Palm Beach and back a couple of times. Had no problems either time.
  17. I just had to say that I like that comment. I'd like to think that applies to me as well.:classic: Time will tell...
  18. Ivan, I worded it carefully (reasonable hp) so that no one bites my head off. I know what these engines are capable of as I've seen it first hand. All I wanted to get accross was that this engine is certainly 'no overkill' and that it is a reasonable swap. As for torque, they lack a certain punch in that department. It isn't an 8 after all and you just don't expect that much brute force from them.
  19. I think that there are no more cars with SR20's coming into Australia. The last of them would have been the S15 200SX. Am I right?
  20. Why would you think this is overkill? These engines aren't that powerful (they have reasonable hp and not alot of torque) although the power to weight ratio would be good with one of these in a Z.
  21. The SR20DET is an excellent engine. You can double the factory power output with stock internals, give it the beating of it's life and it'll still take you home every time. Very reliable and tunable engine.
  22. Anyone want to go halves in one? Diva Roadster Stage 2 kit looks affordable:bunny: Forget the lexus engine, imagine one of these with a supercharged 350 chev hanging out of the bonnet.
  23. I don't know what these kits are but when I got my alarm installed I got the guy to disable the locks so now the keys are useless (as are screwdrivers :classic: ). At the same time the doorlock knobs from the inside were taken out and replaced with red alarm warning lights.
  24. I think you are referring to Kaminari. Pretty pricy stuff. http://www.kaminari.com/products/240_260_280Z.htm
  25. Hi Brett. Is that your car in your avatar? When I started looking for a Z I found that picture somewhere on the net and it was my background for about 3 weeks. Thought you'd like to know:classic: Nice spoiler by the way. I was looking for one exactly the same as yours for a while there but the bare look grew on me. I still might get one one day though.
