  1. Why bother with something you'll drive a few times in your life when you can go to work each day with this... http://www.mclaren4sale.com/ I would have bought it but you can't register them in NSW so I had to pass.
  2. Value of 240Z's in Sydney Aus according to NRMA (insurance company) is $4500AUD
  3. Unfortunately I'm a bit worse than I thought so I'm going to have to give it a miss.
  4. 24 over here. good to see so much diversity
  5. I'm a bit under the weather but I'll make it. Now that I think about it my car is a bit under the weather too with the broken diff mount but it should be fine if I take it easy.
  6. Hi Nigel, it is with the Skylines club but we encourage all other clubs to join us so everyone who's around can join us if they wish.
  7. Anyone from Sydney going to the Australia Day cruise to Wollongong? My car club meets at Humebush car park 6C at midday for a casual cruise up to Wollongong to enjoy the sights and sounds. All are welcome. If you think you might be coming, drop me a pm and I'll send you my mobile number to keep in touch just incase you get lost or something. Btw, thanks for the new sections Mike. :classic:
  8. When I was buying my car the previous owner knew where I was coming from (ie I used to own a relatively new turbo car-Skyline with all the power options and comfort you expect). Anyway, he could see it in my face after the first test drive that I was a tad bit dissapointed. What he said next set me on the path I am now. "A 240Z is a drivers car" That comment was a warning in as much as it was a very accurate description of what I was buying. A drivers car. It's not always comfortable, it's not always fast and it's not always reliable but I'll be damned if I don't get goose bumps every time I sit behind the wheel. There's this feeling you get driving a classic that I've been trying to put into words but however much I try I can't describe it. It has to be experienced to be appreciated. So the point of this post is... Don't expect value for money performance wise but do expect value for money pleasure wise.
  9. Where can I find these in Australia or where can I order them from o/seas for my '72 240Z? The guy that's doing my engine reco has found everything bar the rockers. With a higher duration cam, are the rockers different? ie should I first set my mind on a cam and then buy the appropriate rockers or what? :stupid: Another option he told me was to swap the head with that of a 260/280? Is this the better option considering I want more perfomance out of the car? I'm planning to use 27/70 cams or should I go with the slightly milder 25/65? I don't want to loose out on too much bottom end power. What other options do I have with heads and/or cams? Sorry about all the questions but I'm going to be spending a fair amount of money very soon and I want to get it right. ANY help is much appreciated. George
  10. Thanks Carl. It appears to be ok as long as I take it easy on the car so I'm not terribly worried as yet.
  11. The guy that did my exhaust today told me this mount(?) is stuffed and that's why I hear the loud clunk most likely. What is this mount(?) called so I know what to ask the wreckers? What is this mustache bar you guys are reffering to? Is it that bar the mount is attached to? As you can see I'm a bit lost when it comes to this. Thanks.
  12. Item 4 of 6 done today. Got a new Lukey 2.5" exhaust system fitted with a 3.5" tip that covers the hole very nicely.
  13. it's not a model car is it? either way i hope it brings you joy.:classic:
  14. you'd be able to find some K&N for sure. or http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5106
  15. One guy I was speaking to that's been in the business of Z's for years and years has told me that Australia only got 2003 Z's imported. He was adamant that it was that exact figure and he repeated himself a couple of times. I was under the impression that it was more like 3000 as I've seen that figure thrown around in this forum. Does anyone know for sure? ie, not what you've heard from someone, like myself. The person in question is Ando from All Z 16 Autoparts in Sydney for the sceptics. Thanks, George
  16. Bambikiller, Thanks mate. Orthadox is a form of the Catholic religion. We follow the 'old' calander in which X'mas and New years are a fortnight later. Yes they are chromed and look too good to put in the old engine bay:ermm: The tube you speak of is actually a spring & it moves freely. kmack, they are original SU's built by Midel from parts acquired by them. I don't know all that much about them but that is what they told me. Royce, thanks, they are 1 3/4"
  17. I got it from Midel in Sydney. I can't vouch for it's performance yet but it looks very promising to say the least. Intake surface is huge and it's got a dry 3 layer foam with each layer progressing from a course to a fine build. It fits very nicely in place of the stock air box for the 240/260z from initial measurements. It retails for $120AU GST incl, measurements are 435 x 80mm and part number is PX-C6003 You will also need the base. This will cost you $72.30AU GST incl, part number PX-C6006 I also advise using ram tubes with this system for increased air flow. I am in no way endorsing this product for them, I just think it's a very nice set up so I wanted to share it with you all. George
  18. I was actually speaking to Ross (dohc) since I thought it was out of your price range. Definition of shell is literal. Just a shell, no driveline, no interior (as far as I remember). It's from one of the local Z guys so it's not a private sale as such. trs, yes it does sound expensive but if it's in the condition that he described it to me it's well worth it in my opinion.
  19. Ross, I've found a RUST FREE shell for $3k firm in Sydney. The bloody thing is pretty far but if you are really interested I could possibly go and take pictures of it this weekend.
  20. I am stoked! Got a new carb system today. Woo hoo, scratch one item off the list. See this thread for details
  21. So I woke up this morning and doing the rollout of bed in that instant I decided to call in sick as it's my X'mas today. I'm an Orthadox, albeit an atheist at heart I still respect my parent's traditions. So what to do to kill some time before our family BBQ? ummm.... So I bought myself a new set of SU carbs, a kickarse filter that's a box as well, 2 ram tubes (2.5") and a breather. I can't believe the filter I've bought. If it does half of what I expect it to I will be very happy. Here are some pics of the shiny new toys Santa (read: me) brought on my X'mas Sorry about the quality of some of the photos.
  22. Well, I've already changed my mind about a couple of things. Over the weekend I've decided not to just reco the engine and carbs but to buy new SU's and go mild on the engine. Have organised the 2.5" zorst and carbs and am shopping for a mechanic to do my engine work. Have spoken to a guy from Thornleigh Cylinder Heads & Engine Reconditioning and also to Ned from Hercules who builds animal engines. Either of them would do a good job in my opinion.
