  1. 20/12/02 stock except for the wheels. The day I bought her.
  2. Taken the day I paid the deposit (20/12/02)
  3. If ever you are in Sydney, I owe you a beer or two. That comment couldn't further from the truth. I called Carlos on Thursday morning with little hope but that all changed when he mentioned he had a car sitting in the back and that it was in top condition. He wasn't out to sell it but I could have a look at it and if I liked it he'd consider it. I went to see it yesterday & I loved it. We struck a deal today when I returned. You can see some pics here
  4. Just had to share with you all. I've just put a deposit down on this little beauty. It's not registered but it should be on the road by Tuesday making for a perfect Xmas present. According to the owner, Carlos from Sportsclassic Cars in Sydney, it's never had any rust in it's entire history and I believe him as I've been through it all and even had it on his hoist. It's had a bare metal respray not long ago but only on the outside. This has left the original paint in the engine bay, around the doors and all the other usual places. The quality of these unpainted spots shows that it's never had any rust. It's an ACT car so it was away from the sea which helped immensely. The underbody is straight as, everything original and it's in great overall condition. Well, better than any I've seen so far by a country mile. It came off the production line as an auto but it's just received a 280 or 260 5 speed box. I forget which. It's a 11/72 model so it's just turned 30 and been classified as a classic. Basically, I'm over the moon with my purchase.
  5. Thanks ozlime. The Trading Post Unique Cars Just Cars These are all online and a waste of time and money to buy. They are covered by- Carpoint and Auto Trader/Trading Post Not too sure about Just Cars though but I do remeber it being online too. Somewhere...
  6. I've spoken to Warren. Great bloke. I haven't contacted anyone from the Sydney club as yet. I will do so today though. Thanks Rick Is there any other classifieds that specialise in classic cars or anything of that sort?

Very nice car there mate. Old school seamlessly mixed with new technology. Gotta love it. Two thumbs up!
  8. I see. :stupid: Thanks for that explanation
  9. Just out of curiosity, what was the reserve?
  10. I've got the pics thanks. So you are the guy he told me about. He mentioned that someone had offered him $8k and he wouldn't accept it. check you pm
  11. Yes that's the one. Lime yellow right? What did you think of it?
  12. ...so has anyone done a conversion on a 240z? is it a mirror conversion?
  13. Thanks Mike but I've got my heart set on 240. A 90% complete project just sold for $3.5k. All the body work was meticulously done so it would have been perfect for me leaving me to go either this way or that way with type of engine diff and tranny but alas it was not meant to be. Ben, there's one in the paper now advertised for $9.5k (he will go lower too) but it needs a blue slip which he said he'll provide. It's been off the road since May and is in relatively good condition. However, he's had it painted last year and rust bubles are appearing everywhere and in high concentration under the bonnet. It doesn't seem like it's worth the money or hassle to me. How is the SVD club going? I don't hear much about them in Sydney.
  14. Yeah I've been checking the post and every other classified paper I can find. Not too many in there but what I have seen has been a dissapointment. Patience looks to be a must if I want a decent one. Either that or spend a stack on restoration. How long did it take you to find yours? I see you're a Skyline man as well. Go to www.skylinesaustralia.com This club is growing everyday.
  15. ...and you didn't buy it? it'd be worth it just to tell the story on a Friday night at the pub.
  16. i'm in the same boat. the day that i decided i was going to buy one i was out under the harbour bridge where some nice cars meet on the weekends. anyway, i'd only ever noticed one on the road that i can remeber and being rare over here too i was blown out of my socks when this deep red one drove past. as soon as he'd parked i went over to talk to him and man was this car mint or what. he'd just finished it after a couple of months in the shop where he spent over $35k on it. Loud, proud and quick was this car. btw, i'm thinking of importing one from the US but i'll leave that as a last resort.
  17. Help stop Need Z stop Will travel stop Hi guys. I'm a young (quickly getting old) lad from Sydney and I've recently fallen victim to the Z charm. I've been looking for a very short while and the two Z's I've seen have not been exactly what I wanted. So what is it that I want? A great body naturally and a decent interior. Mechanicals do not matter much. I'm prepared to pay for a good example and prepared to travel. However, please be honest if you are from interstate. [rant] Last trip I made to QLD for another car I got burned as the guy was not too honest. Fool must've thought ''Yeah, he'll change his mind and buy my piece of crap if he comes all the way here."[/rant] Will only travel after holiday season. Thanks for reading
