  1. I would say a Corolla. Toyota make the most reliable cars I have ever driven. My current Camry has been run into the ground, I mean thrashed real hard, and she still runs. I've had her running weeks with but a drop of oil, had her running on 3 cylinders for a while, she's had a main seal leak for months and months (you should see the front of my house ). They have a good reputation for being a workhorse and rightly so. Also, if you start shopping around you will notice thjey keep their value a lot more than most of your small to medium capacity tin cans that come from Asia. So my vote goes to any Corolla or Camry model from the mid '90's. Good luck to your buddy.
  2. Welcome to the site. If you do go ahead with your purchase, bookmark this site and place it at the top of your list. Lots of help around here and a nice bunc of people. As far as buying a Z as a daily driver, it really all depends on what condition it is in and whether you have spare weekends to maintain it I would love a reliable Z as a daily but to me it kind of defeats the purpose of driving a classic car. I tend to think that the less you drive it, the more you appreciate it and love it when you do. Good luck with your purchase
  3. I just ripped out my system so I guess I'm listening to nothing at the moment.
  4. Enjoy Razor. Don't firget the camera This looks like a very fine example of what Nissan is capable of. I'm a bit perplexed as to why they chose to make only 20. Surely there will be more demand than that. In any case, making only 20 of these will turn them in to a super collectable car. If I had the cash I would definately buy one, and thrash the f' out of it. So much for collectable... Umm, I wonder if can afford those brakes...
  5. Gee thanks. I didn't want to be a part of the club but now that I'm in it, how do I resign? I bought the fuse box today. Second picture, 12 circuit model. The top one is 18 circuit and used for race cars apparently. Carries a big price tag as well.

  7. The guy that bought my first Z off me installed air con in it. Some mob in Melbourne did it for him and I believe they had a kit for it. Not sure who but if you are really interested I can put you on to him. Also, the guy that bought it off him is on this forum too.
  8. Well this kit costs me AU$165 without wiring and I can have it this afternoon. Car will be back on the road next weekend at the latest. MSA kit (not sure who makes it?) costs US$160 plus shipping and it will be here in a few weeks. Does anyone know how many fuses come on the MSA kit? As it stands I need 10 and if the MSA one is a stock standard replacement it's no good to me. At the end of the day there is not much $$ difference considering I still have to buy wiring with Painless but there is a difference I imagine in quality and in how quickly I can get my car back on the road. I don't have much of a choice really. I'm just worried about the size of the Painless kit. Might be a tight fit and I might have to cut away the original fuse back plate.
  9. I found a local that sells the following. http://www.painlesswiring.com
  10. I was taking my sound system out a few days ago and when I got to the actual deck I discovered the fuse box cover had a bit of heat distortion. Checking the fuses I found the top two on the right hand side had overheated and melted the plastic box. They are still holding on but it’s bothering me now so I’m going to be replacing it. The weird thing is there were two wires that had been tapped in to two separate fuses. I’m no electrician but I’m willing to bet that this could be the cause of the overheating. These wires were not there when I bought the car so some electrician has done a dodgy job of it. I have heard of the fuse boxes melting with stock load but putting extra current through them will accelerate the process right? Now that I think about it, when I bought the car the cover had been melted extremely. The box itself was fine which leads me to believe that either the cover was from another car or this car has a recurring problem. My question is, would there be an independent fuse solution so that I can avoid tapping the two wires in to the box to avoid putting extra load on it? Also, I’d be right in thinking that if I were to trace the wires that use the two fuses where the melting occurred I would find a short somewhere? What else could cause the fuses to overheat? Thanks
  11. Realised I was being an idiot and woke up to myself. Glad to be back
  12. I keep an excel sheet with a tally of expenses and a description of what was repaired, replaced etc. It's a good idea for when you come to sell it. The prospective buyer will love to see it even though you might get heart pains each time you see the total spent. I can tell you (less petrol) how muh I've spent to the cent. Interesting poll daddz.
  13. Oh never you mind about my Fastback. It's always been in my mind and it will always stay there but I did realise something- there is no way I can get rid of the 240. So the form is the current version with the updated classes then?
  14. Thanks for the article. If I was a moderator I'd be removing it quick smart but I'm not. :cheeky: You even posted the copyright footer
  15. Which one are you Carl? Umm, you have way too much time on your hands Rick and I just have to say that I can't wait to be in your position. Maybe not with the age thing and all but you get what I mean. :cheeky:
  16. Have you ever tried working in the bay of a 300ZX? Good luck to you.
  17. I'm not so sure about that one. I've seen maybe 10 240's on the road in the past 2 years and only 1 Fastback...
  18. Shelby GT500 or a custom Hot Rod that'll be the day...
  19. 140 mph (225kph) is an insane speed in a 30+ year old car. Hope your brakes are up to the task if you need them.
  20. I've asked Alex if he regrets selling it and he definately does. The buyer is local. He's actually an older brother of a friend of mine. Something I'm looking forward to if I don't sell it. heh. No way will I be able to do a better job than Alex did and it's not possible to do the same conversion anymore due to some law changes 10 years ago. A decent Fastback would set me back around $30k so yeah...
