  1. Last night I started writing a reply to that effect. I thought Z kid took it personally and felt that you were showing off when it was plainly obvious to me that you just wanted to say that you bought them so there's no need to ask Richard about them anymore. I hope you don't judge everyone by one persons actions Joseph. I for one would like you to stick around. cheers
  2. MR C, I don't know about WA but NSW only has sedan in their records so that's what they classify them as. I asked them about this.
  3. ROFL That made me laugh so hard that I had to put it in my sig. Umm, I'm going to see Warren like I told you so we'll see what he says. He did show me a centre console like mine once and from that he told me that I'm after the chrome/aluminium ashtrays.
  4. Hey Rick. I actually just found a pic of a 240 in the galery with a chrome ashtray top. Here 'tis Cheers
  5. But you can't argue with the centre of gravity... I think it looks hot anyway.
  6. I was at the newsagent today and found this in "Australian Classic Car". Does anyone read this mag btw? I nearly bought it but saw that it was 80% advertisements so I changed my mind. Any of you Mexicans (read: Victorians) know about this guy? Lawrie Nelson Nisszed Spares 20 Kerrs Rd St Andrews VIC 3761 Ph 03 9710 1091 Fx 03 9710 1887 I was just curious if you guys know about this 'cause nobody has mentioned him. On a sidenote, I took a pen from their collection at the newsagents and wrote down the address. I returned the pen and a minute later I got told that it's against copyright laws to do that. Had no idea so I apologised.
  7. trs, shhhh! you're going to jinx me. They didn't actually admit anything. The gentleman said that he has to check the blue slip and that would arrive at the particular RTA tomorrow. If there was an entry error they would refund me the money. If not.... Funny thing is I got their tech department to fax their spec sheets to me which shows that these cars have a Tear Weight of only 1020. Apparently they are meant to use these as a guideline but the gentleman wouldn't have none of that. He wanted to check the blue slip. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing... If there's an entry error on the actual blue slip then I imagine they will give me the run-around.
  8. I'm from Macedonia and our language dictates (ie, it's not a choice) that cars are female. Everyone I've ever known has also considered cars to be females.
  9. What was the luxury car? The ZX probably was a piece of $^!# compared to it. Grim realities of life:disappoin
  10. So I payed the RTA a visit today and it looks like I'll be getting a refund of $120 as the tear weight was recorded wrong and I was overcharged initially.
  11. Brett, you can fit an engine 15% lager than stock without engineering cert. Anything bigger and up to limit, it has to be engineered. The reason you have seen big V8's in NSW with engineering cert is because they would have been engineered pre '96. The rules changed around that time but these cars are still around and can still be registered. Lucky them! I've spoken to the RTA tech department, engineers and have downloaded some information from the RTA site itself. Here is the RTA information on light vehicle modifications
  12. No guys, unfortunately that's it. That is the maximum capacity I can legally get engineered. For forced induction engines there is another formula. I'll post it up tonight as I've left the info sheet at home.
  13. What's that Steve? Yeah I have to agree with the great engine bit. Getting performance out of them is easy and cheap too.
  14. Exactly my thought. He would have carried out the work himself naturally. Had he paid someone to do it then I might believe him.
  15. You might be right. I only saw it briefly and I was in shock so I couldn't function properly.
  16. Is that all? I don't want to sound rude but if Carlos spent $100,000 as he claims and all he's putting down is 120kw on the ground then there's either something wrong or I'm missing something. Someone please enlighten me.
  17. Hi guys, I just came back from watching a movie and in the previews they had one for the new Pizza movie coming up. To those that haven't heard about Pizza, it's an SBS comedy show about these ethnics that deliver pizza and get in comedic situations. Pretty funny show at times. Anyway, in the preview I saw a 240/260? red in colour with cowl induction doing a burnout. It looked and sounded good but it was a short scene only. Now, this show is filmed in Sydney so logically you'd think that the movie is filmed in Sydney and that this car is from Sydney. Does anyone know more about this car? also If anyone buys High Performance Imports magazine, in issue 30 there is a black 2000GT Toyota (I hope that's right) and a red 260Z with an RB25DET from Sydney. Cheers
  18. Thanks trs, I called the RTA today and they confirmed the 1020 weight. Since they got it wrong on my rego they have overcharged me. There is a threshold of 1500 and anything over that they charge you more for rego. So the RTA owes me around $100. I'll have to try to get a refund tomorrow.
  19. Ok ok I must fess up. I have been researching a Chev 350 transplant for my Z.:disappoin Unfortunately, or maybe a blessing in disguise, the RTA's rules prohibit me from going ahead with this project. They have a formula for acceptable engine upgrades which goes like this... Tare weight x 0.294 = acceptable maximum engine capacity. In this case using NSW's Tare Weight of 1020 I can go as big as 299.88ci. Nowhere near a 350 Chev. If it wasn't going to be a 350 it wasn't going to be anything so I'm bailing on that idea. A couple of things... Prior to finding out that I can't legally do it I had a nostalgic moment working on my engine where I actually felt sorry for it and started to second guess my decision. The fact that I can't do it was a load of my mind. Fianlly, I feel reborn in a strange way and have more respect for my car. I can't describe it and I don't want to belittle my feeling by trying to put it down in words so I won't try... phew, had to get that off my chest
  20. My friend on another forum posted up a story of how he got in a cop chase last night and how he flipped his car over and it burnt to pieces etc etc. I must admit he got me.
  21. dero, generally cars are given female names but there's no reason why your car can't be gay... :cheeky:
