  2. How do I tell what my five speed came out of? I pulled it out of a 76 280z, but it was not the original transmition (obviously).

I work at a Nissan shop in Az (BRW's Nissan Autowerks 623-581-8440 north phx) and working in the tight areas of new cars bare hands are the best. I tried gloves, but they kept getting snagged on things. The soap we have here is great, it will even remove JB Weld with a bit o scrubbing. It is called TKO Hand cleaner by Zep.

is there any differance between the timing chain on a l24 and l28? I am rebuilding an l28 and dont want to have to buy another timing set when I could just swap the brand new one off my l24

If you went with a high performance grind cam, I would go with a header to take full advantage.
  6. I would do anything to have one of the originals, Almost anything for an exact replica.
  7. Me and my friends went to the barret jackson auction and gawked at all the cars. We were on our way out and I noticed the Shelby tent in the vendors area. Then I noticed a Datona Cobra Coupe and about crapped my pants. I knew it was a replica, but I didn't care. It was an exact replica of the original down to every detail. After lusting over it for a few, I hunted down the guy running the tent and begged him to let me sit in it. After brown nosing him a bit and explaining to him that it was the car of my dreams he finally agreed. I sat down it in and it fit me so perfect, like it was built for me. I could close my eyes and knew where every switch and button was on the dash. I almost broke down and cried I was so happy. I'll have pictures soon!
  8. I bought my Dellortos form this guy as well and I was very pleased with what I got. He cleans them and packs them very well and sends them promptly. The only thing is that they came off a random car so the throttle linkage needed to be changed out.
  9. I have a set of triple Delorto carbs that I am putting on my z and would like to know if the 4 psi from my pump is too much. I havent had any problems with the DGVs that are on it now.
  10. That is what I thought. I don't plan on racing my car except for club or free track days, so they are not justified by the improvements, but I think I will still try to weld up a set myself minus a few of the adjustments. I have a 280 parts car to use as a template. I think the "trick factor" would be pretty high also when you get to tell people you made them yourself.

I am building a L28 for my 240 and want to keep my triple carb setup. What would be the best head to use with flat top pistons? The car will be a daily driver so I dont want an incredible amount of compression, but I have no problem with using premium gas. I also dont know of any differences in valve sizes or anything like that, so any info would be great.
  12. Has anybody used Arizona Z cars' cro-moly control arms?? I am just curious about the quality and benifits. The price is a bit steep and I think i could weld up a set for cheap, but I would like to know if it is worth the time. Here is a link if you havent seen them...... http://www.arizonazcar.com/lowarms.html
  13. I agree, If they stayed with the original intent of the first generation z's of having a very affordable car that could keep up with the expensive European cars they would have been more successful. The only thing cheap about the 350 is the construction and attention to detail. When in comes to originality, they fell very short, although the original generation z's look very similar in styling to the '67-'68 Toyota 2000 GT.
  14. A wile back I found a web site that sold wheel adapters that would allow you to run honda bolt pattern wheels on your z. I lost the address a wile back and would like to know if anyone has it.

  16. That is the reason I have two kill swiches. One disables the ignition and one diables the fuel pump. If they manage to find one, they still have to find the other.
  17. How much would my gearing drop if I went from 195 70 14 tires to 2somthing 60 14 tires? I am tired of having pizza cutters. BTW: I am running 4.07 gears.

There are plenty of decent Datsuns around here in Az, but it seems that I never come across any when I am in my 240z. I did pull behind a new 350z in the Sonic drive through in my z and got a few looks.
  19. if you right click on the link and select "Save target as...." you should be able to download the files
  20. Are you building the BRE 240? I built one with a few fittment problems, but nothing a razorblade couldnt fix. I modified mine a bit buy lowering it, custom exhaust and a DOHC crossflow head.
