Bob Sharp Mini Lite wheel decal
Does anyone have a source for Bob Sharp wheel decals, original or reproduction, for the Mini lite wheels as sold by Bob Sharp? I am wanting to replace mine on my 71 240 Z. Jim Bell

junky carbs?
I seem to recall the E88 head came from a 280 Z, with maybe square ports? A 240 Z has an E 31 head with round ports? Do the exhaust and intake shapes on the head match the exhaust and intake shapes? This could be your problem. Carb issue, i too had carb issues. Bit the bullet and had the carbs overhauled my Z Therapy. They now run great! Jim 71 240 Z

At The Crossroads of Color - Paint or Sell?
Hardway, Having restored the same 240Z twice (the second time due to 2' of salt water flooding) and spending $10K the first time and probably $5K the second time, my opinion is that if the paint is still good, leave it the color it is, unless you are willing to just have the outer skin painted (just tapping over the trim and glass). As far as new floors, since this is not a structural area, I would recommend you weld them your self. My first street/race Z developed stress cracks behind the rear windows due to a large floor rust pan (i.e. no floors) issue. Also, not only the cost of the restoration you want to do, the time also. To rebuild my running Z after it was flooded has taken four years. I also had to weld in new back up supports for the T/C mounts. Though not a "pro" job, the work came out well. Jim 71 240 Z

Tachometer issue
After spending five years re-restoring my 71 240 due to flooding of two feet of sea water, it is back on the road. One minor issue I can not rectify is that the tach is pegged over to 8K at idle. This is an occassional issue. I checked the wires to the coil and ballast resistor and they seem to be ok, though i cleaned the contacts and applied dialectic grease with no change. Any ideas? Thanks Jim 71 240 Z

Electrical Issue?
Duffman, I have been away from this site for a few years trying to restore my flooded 240 Z. Saw your inquiry. I assume by now you have the problem fixed. If not, I experienced the same thing, car would run and as soon as I would let the key back, it would die. The problem was the ballest resistor located just below the coil on the driver side engine fender. I replaced the resistor and it ran fine. Jim

Speedometer gear
Is anyone familiar with speedometer gears, the plastic gear that fits into the side of the transmission? My stock one was destroyed, I purchased an used one - 17 teeth on the gear, and my speedomoter now reads about 5% slower than my true speed. For exxample, an indicated 60 mph is actully closer to 65 mph, (as tested by a second hand on watch against a some measured miles). Any suggestions on whether I need to install a gear with fewer teeth or more teeth? I can't remember if I have a 3.36 or a 3.54 rear axle and tires are not stock - 205/60/14, so calculating from rear a axle ratio or tire size won't help. Thanks Jim Bell
