  1. Thanks, i'll check that out.
  2. Looking to see if anyone has used a place local to NYC(10465) to have their parts plated? Thanks!

Thats a great site, Thanks! If you look at the first pic, the blue is spliced into the red. The wiring is factory(original tape)except for the direct connection to the flasher. I really think it's a dead connecton for the automatic like Eurodat says. I'll put a bullet connector on it and see where in the dash it goes. That's what I am trying to firgure out also. I removed the wiring tape for the flasher and traced the wiring all the way to the connector. I then checked the continuity from the flasher end to the 4 way flash connector and there was continuity. Also after searching the FSM I noticed the white wire on the engine harness uses a large connector, which luckily I bought so I'll connect that up.

Sorry for not being specific. It's for a production date of 8/72 240z manual. No alarm that I know of. Could the blue wire be one of those dead connectors that are never used?

Hello, Currently rebuilding the dash harness and observed a few wires that needed identifying. -Blue wire spliced into a red wire. PO had a green wire spliced in with a fuse directly to the green wire to the flasher. The green wire to the flasher has continuity from the connector to the flasher end. -Red and blue striped wire, has a red wire connected through the bullet connection. Also I completed the engine harness and replaced a white wire. The wire had no terminal on it, maybe it was torn off. What kind of terminal would go on this white wire(no pic attached). Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone. Has anyone purchased this hose recently? I know OE is disc. wanted to know of a supplier that has this hose braided. My current one "looks" to be in good shape, but would prefer to change it. I was considering this, even though it's not braided =( http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-AN-Push-Lok-Loc-Lock-Hose-Fuel-Coolant-3-4-Black-/330375714957?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item4cebed588d&vxp=mtr Thanks!
  7. Ok thanks! Thanks for the tip. I did notice some hardware being silver zinc? For example the flat head Philips screw door latch on the b pillar
  8. thanks for the replies! I am assuming Simple Green will remove paint off of hardware if soaked long enough?
  9. Hello everyone. I have some nuts, bolts, clamps basically hardware that are in pretty good shape. I would like to soak them overnight in a liquid cleaning solution such as simple green or Castrol's super clean. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to use that won't remove the original plating? Thanks!
  10. Thanks Mike. I called Waytek, to get a stripe painted its $10, then $.3641 per foot. Minimum feet required is 500'. I think I'll just buy 25' of white 8AWG and use a red paint marker and stripe in red, then on top place a WR indicator on it with a clear shrink wrap.
  11. Blue: too thin for the alternator circuit. Madkaw: thanks for the offer, but I'm going to step up to 8 awg. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Bringing this up from the dead. Does anyone have a source for tracer wire? I am redoing the charging/starting circuit and would like to get a hold of a white/red 8 gauge wire. Thanks!

Moderators, please delete my accidental post. thx
  14. Your website has been very helpful to me. I purchased my tank hoses from that vwbug place in California. If you don't mind sharing, how did you handle the charging and circuit harness? I see on my harness that there was some overheating that went on, some wires look slightly black. I'm not sure if it was the starter wire that got hot and the heat passed along to the other wires. Also since tracer wire is very difficult to find(I couldnt find any white/red 10 awg) how did you mark the wires? Thank you and everyone on this great board!!
  15. Good point, for some reason I thought it went into the alternator. I did find the original design though on Eastern Beaver. http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/312_Connectors/312_connectors.html
  16. first place I checked. I'm assuming your referring to MP1L? It's close but I don't have the top lock just a notch on the housing.
  17. Hello everyone, working on the dash harness and I am looking to buy the signal terminal connector as mine is all burned up. I'm going to try Mike at ZZX but wanted to have other sources just in case. Thx!
  18. Thanks to Chris for the rubber boots!! Here is the finished product. 2 harness down, 2 more to go!!

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I am properly converting the AVS to AWG.

Hello everyone, I was doing some research on swapping out some wires in the harnesses. I couldn't match the Z's wiring gauge to the AWG standard, I later found out the wiring in the Z is under the AVS standards. For example the main ground and green wire going to the fuel sending unit are AVG2 which is 26 strands and each strand measured at .32mm. The AVG2 converts to a 14 AWG wire. They go by increments of 2 for the AWG. Here is the AVS standards website: http://www.seaps.com.sg/cables/cab_general_avs.htm and most conversions is on page 15: http://www.sacramentoelectronics.com/images/bussmann/specialty_catalogs/BUSS_Auto-OEM.pdf If I am incorrect, please correct me!! Thanks!
  21. Thanks Chris, I ordered from both sites. Eastern beaver saved me on the .312" male blades that I needed!
  22. Found a very similar rubber boot, you would have to drill out the center, and also there won't be a lip to hold onto the "nail head" I'll keep searching http://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-s839
  23. And where to buy: http://www.repairconnector.com/brass-female-lock-type-tab-connector-5-pack/
