Reliability?
As with any type of car that is 40 years old, the car needs to be well sorted to be reliable, the bonus with the S30 is they are relitively easy and in expensive to fix. Fun factor for the dollar is second to none, and the people associated with the S30 are a great and extremely helpful.

Please allow me to explain last weeks thread.
This z community is just like a family, and we have all had one those days, weeks or even years. Glad to see you were able to work it out, diplomacy prevails. You are a wealth of knowledge and inovative ideas, which you are quick to share with others in the community. I always read your threads and posts as I am sure to learn something. Thanks for sticking around. Brad

So I thought I could install Pertronix Ignitor Myself......I'm lost.
Good luck Once you get it installed it is a good idea to keep a spare set of points in the glove box, just incase the electronic ignition leaves you stranded on the side of the road. They give no warning when they decied to go bad. That way you put the points back in and your good to go again. Let us know how it goes and if you notice the difference

Good job ......satisfying when you find it!

blowing tail/park light fuse new gremlin
My short was caused by a screw mounting the rear speaker behind the back side panel, someone had used a longer drywall screw to mount it, and had gone through the tail light wiring harness. After the basics it is usually something that man has touched that goes wrong. Start tracing, you will find the cause.

Vinyl Seat Replacement Kits
I have never heard of them or used their product ....but the phrase "you get what you pay for" will surely apply, especially with seat vinyl IMHO

Free donor seats
If I was closer I'd take them off your hands. We are planning on moving back to Victoria sometime this year( went to Oak bay high school back in the mid 80s) Really miss crusing the water front and meeting up at Clover point. Is Speedline performance still open in Victoria? They used to be the z place back then.

Assembling early 260Z
That is the way I fell about mine right now, but all it really needs is a good clean an buff. Except for the paint which is toast from Las Vegas sun. I am the 2nd owner on title 78000mi, car was parked in 91 because it did not pass emissions in California. Every thing is very well preserved (rubber will all be replaced) Thanks for the info on zeddsavers I will definitely sending him my business on a couple of parts, Prices seem reasonable for the quality.

JCR California z body kit question?
I have a JCR California z body kit on my 1973, but I do not have the rear bumper for the kit. I require the rear bumper for an out of Province inspection, therefore going bumperless is not an option. Besides I prefer the look with the bumper, it balances the large whale tail IMO. Does anyone know what the bumper was made of or was it a modified 280z bumper? Any help or sugestions would be greatly apreciated

Assembling early 260Z
Rainman fantastic job, you have definitely peaked my OCD.......now I'm scared to go out to the garage and look at my 73 z. The quality of the job and the short time frame is a insperation. I've been restoring cars for years and I can relate to the emotions driving you to get it done. looks like Zeddsaver does great work how are his prices? Keep the pictures comming,

Bolts!
I would always try to use as close to the one you took out, if you believe them to be original, that should prevent complications caused by thread where there shouldn't be etc......Why take the chance, and make sure you use the proper grade or better! We have Bolt Supply Wharehouse here and they carry most bolts to change or upgrade. Just my 2cents Brad

frustrating lighting problem solved
I Recently purchased a 1973 240z, which had been stored for may years. After doing all the necessary things before I could fire her up ( runs strong buts need fine tuning) , it was on to electrical. I had working headlights reverse lights left signal left brake ( heavy draw) front parking lights ( right side dim and heavy draw) left rear parking light My marker lights have been removed? I did not have working right rear parking light brake lights licence plate light dash lights After cleaning every switch, socket and checking every wire from the front to the back the only thing I had found was when the front parking lights had been removed someone pluged the front right wires together. Unfortunately that only fixed the front parklights front signals and dash lights.( when the rear harnesses were un pluged) Thus confining the problem to the rear. I started re traceing the harness back over the wheel well, removed the expansion thank and pulled the speaker in right rear corner......at sometime someone had installed a drywall screw to attach the bottom right of the speaker, peircing through the wiring harness causing all my problems ( and yes I did the victory dance). Fixed the 2 damaged wires and every light on this car glows to perfections .....or as close as they can get until I buy my PLH and HLH from zs-ondabrain. Moral........it is usually the things touched by man that go wrong, so look there first! The only bonus of me starting at the wrong end is that the entire electrical system has all been cleaned, greased and inspected If it weren't for all the excellent info within these posts, who knows how much longer this would have taken me. Thanks to all those that don't even know they helped

New member in Denver
Welcome! I too just joined classic z after purchasing a 73 from Vegas, after 20 plus years without a Z. I agree they are a blast to drive and east to work on (except for electrical gremlins) I collect old cars also (1972 chevelle ss convertible, 1969 427 corvette,1953 chopped P/U, and best of all my new to me Z!) The long wait for spring when we live in the Rockies can be tough, but just makes the time we actually get to drive our cars that much more enjoyable.

I wanted to introduce myself, my first 3 cars were 2-240z and a 260z, but that was in the 80's when these cars we closer to new. I have a couple other classic in the garage but could no longer fight the urge to find another 240z. I fould a 1973 in las vegas with 78k that has the jim cook racing rear fenders and whale tail. I am the second owner on title (a couple of other owners i think, but hadn't registered it) Basically it has only been driven by one owner and that is obvious because it isn't all hacked up everything is there and stock.( even things i didn't know they came with} It has sat awhile so just starting to go through things, I'm like a little kid in the candy store.....re-living my late teens early twenties in victoria bc canada. i now am in calgary ab . the questions and knowledgable answers on here have saved me many headaches already Brad
